STAR TRIBUNE REPORTS ON OTTO’S FALSE ATTACK ON ANDERSON

By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 20, 2006

I discussed this during yesterday's radio program.  Otto's website still advertises her false attack on State Auditor Pat Anderson.

##

"Who's watching the watchdog who is watching the watchdog? [I prefer mine: Who's watching Rebecca Otto while she's watching the watchdog?]

State Auditor Patricia Anderson has raised that question in striking back at her chief election challenger's claim of finding repeated errors in Anderson's official reports on local government finances.

DFLer Rebecca Otto overlooked $18 million in grant revenues for school districts in her recent critique of an Anderson report, the Republican state auditor said. 'She made 18 accounting errors,' Anderson said of Otto. 'Her analysis is completely wrong.'

Otto acknowledged Friday that the grant money was in Anderson's report, but said she missed it because it was in the wrong place in spreadsheet tables. 'It's not laid out logically or properly,' Otto said. 'It's way off in never-never land.'" Source: Star Tribune, August 19, 2006

"Anderson also challenged Otto's claim that she had found no errors in the work of previous auditors. A decade ago, Judi Dutcher, then the Republican state auditor and now the DFL-endorsed candidate for lieutenant governor, reissued an entire report on city and county fund balances for 1993 because of mistakes.

'She's never looked, obviously,' Anderson said of Otto.

Otto said she checked only the reports going back to 1995 that are available on the state auditor's website. All those reports 'look good,' she said." Source: Star Tribune, August 19, 2006

i bet our friends at MNPublius will fail to mention this little gem. One would think that, with them so obsessed with truth seeking that they would expose Ms. Otto. I will not hold my breath.

What a relef, Pat Awada knows how to put all the numbers on the page, she simply doesn’t know the proper way to do it.

I can vote for her now. As long as she is incompetent with all the numbers rather than incompetent with most of the numbers, I like her as my auditor.

It’s not all about facts and figures (Auditing). And why do we need an auditor anyway?

It’s about being balanced and reasoned. It’s about One Minnesota. It’s about kidnapping stray dogs on 35E. It’s about teaching people when they are wrong, even if they never will get it. It’s about windmills and Priuses. Anybody can hire an additor, but aren’t we lucky that Becky has determined that Minnesota does not need an Auditor, so she is going to be our Chief Scolder.

As I stated in an earlier post:
    //Becky Otto is a wannabe.
    Wanna-be teacher
    Wanna-be scientist
    Wanna-be environmentalist
    Wanna-be school board member
    Wanna-be Legislator
    Wanna-be Auditor
Hey, that’s cute. It really sticks!//

[...] Who’s Watching the Watchdog: Part Deux By MNCR Remember this?  And this?  And then this, and it fizzled?  I have to admit, I was proud of the “RPM Otto-matic Press Releases” title. [...]

I think Anderson “wanna-be” a little more accurate, now that someone like Otto is watching…
