MDE EXCLUSIVE: DID DENISE DITTRICH FAIL TO DISCLOSE CONFLICT OF INTEREST?
By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 21, 2006
In the short history of Minnesota Democrats Exposed, I have not spent much time writing posts exposing legislators. But as I promised, this information is too good to pass up.
Representative Denise Dittrich is a freshman DFL legislator from Champlin - HD 47A. Dittrich spent over $90,000 in personal money in 2004 to beat Representative Bill Haas.
Haas was an outspoken critic of the Northstar Commuter Rail line – Dittrich campaigned as a supporter of Northstar. Dittrich once distributed campaign literature FOR Hass. Source: Coon Rapids Herald website, August 16, 2004
After spending almost $100,000 to defeat Hass, Dittrich is placed on the House Transportation Committee.
Keeping her campaign promise to be an advocate for Northstar, Dittrich authors legislation for funding. On April 12, 2006, Dittrich votes for the bonding bill that gives the Northstar project $60 million dollars.
But should Dittrich have authored a bill for Northstar funding? Should she have even voted for the funding?
Check back tomorrow morning for more information about a potential conflict of interest Dittrich failed to disclose.

I hope you have all of your ducks in a row on this one. It would be a tragedy if, say, an attorney or other expert had looked over this alleged conflict of interest and found it wanting.
Just sayin’.

So, let me get this right. She campaigns as a pro-Northstar candidate, wins, and then is expected to stay away from the issue because she campaigned as a supporter?
This may be hard for you to understand, but sometimes when people campaign, they do so on issues they actually intend to work on. Where, exactly, is the conflict there?

Nice threat MN Politics. Is that the best you have to offer?

Roving buddy, I love you, but the point is that MB is teasing tomorrow’s story. Nothing here was the real scoop, nor was it intended to be.

Clearly Dittich must own some land upon which some aspect of this obscene pork barrel boondoggle will be built.
The PorkStar Rail Line is Minnesota’s equivalent to Boston’s Big Dig.

Uh, I assume the conflict of interest is beyond merely voting in a manner consistent with a campaign pledge. I also assume the conflict of interest will be revealed tomorrow. Hence the “check back tomorrow” teaser.

Facts don’t matter. It’s the buzz that counts! Keep making enough buzz about slander, and hope something sticks!

“Check back tonight for more details!”
“Check back tomorrow morning for the scoop!”
“Help Michael build his traffic numbers so he can charge more for ads!”

“Green party paging Mr. Hanna. Mr. Hanna to the Green Party, please.”

A post that describes perfectly what DFL’ers do during every election cycle.

If Michael had something, he would post it. With legal action already suggested, he is to cowardly to post it now. I bet this one disappears like so many teased topics before.
What is the point of selling the sizzle if you don’t have the steak?

Brian, You mean slander like filing bogus charges against Sen. Ortmann?
Roving, once again your legal opinion is bullshit. Nice try though.
