BUSH PROTESTERS DRESS IN ORANGE JUMPSUITS AND BLACK HOODS
By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 22, 2006
"About two dozen protesters waited along the road leading to the Marriott Hotel in Minnetonka early this afternoon awaiting the arrival of President Bush.
One group of protesters carried signs calling for single-payer health care reform. The second group was calling for Bush's impeachment.
Three of the pro-impeachment protesters wore orange jumpsuits and black hoods, mimicking the infamous abuse scandal pictures from Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
According to organizer Mikael Rudolph of south Minneapolis, 'This prince [Bush], who considers himself above the law, is not worthy of public office and completely unworthy of our White House. He's a tyrant. He needs to go.'" Source: Star Tribune, August 22, 2006

Liberals once again prove they appeal to the lowest common denominator.

So talking to a friend this morning, I said “check out the Mpls paper web site this afternoon. They will show a dollar figure in the first paragraph. You know, in a cynical sort of way”. Those moonbats never let me down.

If you’re referring to the front page reference to the Big Question, Eric Black says the Bachmann campaign called him and told him. He says they see this as news they need to get out to counter an impression that she’s laggng behind Wetterling in fundraising.

I think it is funny that the lefties are saying that Bush thinks he is above the law, and their candidate for Congress has admittedly acknowledged that he didn’t pay his personal income tax, which is against the IRS law, and why he got fined. What is up with this double standard that continues to haunt the left wing.

Hard-core lefties think moderates look at protests like this and think `hmmm…’ when really what they think is `sheesh’.
Keep it up guys!!
August 22nd, 2006 at 2:49 PM
And Paul why don’t you and Eric Black and Roving “STRIB” reporter start telling us about all the state candidates that are breaking the spending limits (ATTEMPTING TO BUY THE OFFICE THEY ARE SEEKING). They could start with DFLER STEVE KELLEY and then discuss Reps Denise Dittrich and Steve Simon !!

I wonder what the left would say if a 1000 GOP activists staged a protest at the Hatch rallies where folks were dressed as Ill state troopers with black tape over their mouths?
Shouldn’t it be about time that Hatch open the books on the tabacco settlement that he and humpty-dumpty helped to swindle millions from the state and into the coffers of RKMC Lawfirm?
As far as orange suits and black hoods, Abu Grab was a fraternity prank. Nobody died because of it and nobody got hurt. It was silly, but, not the fault of the President or his administration.
I suppose we should dress up as burning twin towers when Clinton comes to town… it all happened cause he was absent from WH and never attended NSA meetings in his oval office… just interns.

jimj, you’re late for your anger management class.
Seriously – toe whatever little version of the party line is floating around in your brain, or be expelled? Are you absolutely sure you’re not a Democrat?
My only point is – I didn’t think this particular one was an example of the Strib’s bullshit. That’s it. Can you handle it?

Orange jumpsuits were on the trip to Gitmo, not Abu Ghraib.
But the funny thing is that they had to buy these suits somewhere. I bet that’s the first time they’ve been inside Cabela’s or Mills Fleet Farm. They don’t sell orange jumpsuits at the co-op.

I would like to see Republicans come to the next DFL fundraiser dressed as Islamic terrorists wearing black hoods and carrying swords used to decaptitate Americans. Wouldn’t that be fun?
August 22nd, 2006 at 9:15 PM
Of course if they did that, Brian Hanna would come with his little handcuffs and try to arrest us like he thinks the UN will do.
August 22nd, 2006 at 9:58 PM
Good for the protestors. I understand they were herded into a “free speech zone”. Last time I checked, all of America was a free speech zone.
Abu Gharib was not just a fraternity prank. People were hurt, and people did die.
// An Iraqi whose corpse was photographed with grinning U.S. soldiers at Abu Ghraib died under CIA interrogation while in a position condemned by human rights groups as torture — suspended by his wrists, with his hands cuffed behind his back //

Worst of all, the abuse publicly violated the dignity of these prisoners (many of whom were innocent) in a way that increased hatred of America, and fueled terrorist recruitment.
Remember that beheading of Nick Berg? Yes, that’s right. It was in retaliation for the abuses at Abu Gharib.
// One of the men behind Berg in the video read a statement that referred to the “satanic degradation” of Iraqi prisoners //

You know, I can easily go to reputable sources and find this stuff. There’s tons more details available, too.
The American people know what you did. Just wait til your father gets home, boys. You won’t be able to sit down (in Congress) for a long time.

I understand there was also a “Dump Bachmann” flotilla at the fundraising event. The closed to the public health care speech was a way to stick the costs of this Bachmann fundraiser to the taxpayers. I for one don’t appreciate that.

Brian,
I can’t believe you posted this statement in your comments:
One of the men behind Berg in the video read a statement that referred to the “satanic degradation†of Iraqi prisoners
Are you actually justifying the barbaric torture of Americans in Iraq? You are evil man.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:00 AM
The left wing kook who said that Bush is a tyrant and needs to go really makes me laugh. Considering that they didn’t support removing a real tyrant (Saddam) and think the President of Iran is a pretty neat guy after the 60 Minutes interview, I don’t think these whackos are fit to comment about anyone being a tyrant.

Chris: // Are you actually justifying the barbaric torture of Americans in Iraq? You are evil man. //
As you know, I do not believe there is any justification for torture or beheadings.
The quote from USAToday was a quote regarding facts. Apparently the kidnappers believed the beheading was in retaliation for the American abuses (torture and killings) at Abu Gharib.
Understanding how your enemy thinks is not the same thing as agreeing with it. But thanks for asking.

I don’t care to understand why they attacked us on 9/11 and killed some three thousand innocent civilians. I don’t care to understand why they beheaded Nick Berg on camera. I don’t care to understand why they kidnapped Fox News reporter Steve Centanni (speaking of which, I suppose you support their demands to release all Muslim prisoners in US custody). All I care about is that we have a President who is focused on defeating this barbaric, fascist group of terrorists who want to kill us.

Just checking in with my Bush loyalist fellow citizens to humbly ask you to consider the results of the election last week. I hope it is understood by some of you at least that true patriots of this great nation will never tolerate state-sponsored torture, corporate entities writing policy, rampant governmental corruption, lies leading us into war, rampant war profiteering, outing of active CIA NOC agents for political retribution, environmental ignorance, hypocritical gay-bashing by closet homosexuals in public office, etc.
“Governmental Corruption” was the number one reason given in exit polls across the nation for why people voted the way they did – edging out the Iraq War, which placed second.
You may not understand that to be why the election went the way it did, but I hope you at least will give it some thought as you work to re-organize and re-prioritze your party’s platforms. I am not a Republican, nor am I a Democrat. I consider myself “at large” although I see the nation moving back toward the true center at this point after a huge meander to the radical right over the last twelve years.
I look forward to a return of the GOP to core conservative values of fiscal conservatism, “States Rights”, individual privacy, personal responsibility (from those capable), small government, a balance of power between the three branches of government, etc. These are good points of debate between the parties and are worth consideration locally as well as nationally. To get back there we need to work together to demand accountability from all our elected officials for any illegal behavior, corruption or favoritism – be it President Bush or House Speaker Pelosi.
But base it all on fact rather than party loyalty or I’m not interested – and neither is the majority of the electorate despite the best efforts of partisan mass media hacks digging incessantly to reveal corruption and crimes where there are none in many cases.
I hope that you also come to understand that we of ImpeachforPeace.org are just as committed to holding Democrats accountable to the law and to their oath to the Constitution of the United States as Republicans.
We will be watching the Democrats, with their new status and clout very closely to see how much their promise of “transparent government, accountability and reform” is carried out.
Check out: “911 Mysteries: Demolitions” online. It is a hoot! Can you believe Larry Silverstein collected on not just ONE, but TWO insurance payments – one for each tower he had insured to cover “Acts of Terror” just six short weeks before 9/11!?! How great is that? To not just avoid being held accountable for admitting publicly that he agreed to “pull” Tower Seven, which was completely undamaged by aircraft, but to destroy WorldCom investigative evidence which would have been so damaging to the White House in the process!
Seriously. Don’t pre-judge it. It is a fantastic movie solidly grounded in fact and evidence. You may be shocked to find yourself wondering about “inside help” in those most heinous crimes against our nation.

jimj,
While you are criticizing Democrats for breaking spending limits, why stop there? Why not criticize the Pawlenty campaign for accepting all the last minute help from a newly-formed D.C. PAC that spent nearly a cool million in attack ads against Hatch?
Ancient history:
Teddy Kennedy should have been removed from office – if not face criminal prosecution and jail time – for his drunken liability in the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, right?
Bill Clinton deserved censure at least, if not an impeachment conviction for lying to a Grand Jury – whether or not the original investigation was warranted, right?
Anyone who has committed a crime while holding public office over the last six years should be held to the same bar, right?
I just want to see consistency from anyone being critical of public servants. Hold them all up to the same standard. Otherwise you run the risk of revealing yourself to be a hypocrite or a simple partisan hack.

I have been reading some of these comments in horror. What do you mean you don’t care why? How can you ever expect the violence to stop if you don’t question why it’s happening? As far as the left wing “whackos” I don’t think they support tyrany in any form, whether it be abroad or here. The difference is, we live in America, and it is our responsibility as Americans to keep our own government in check. We can’t fix the world when we can’t even fix ourselves.
