AMY KLOBUCHAR’S “BIG OIL” HYPOCRISY

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 1, 2006

(St. Paul, Minnesota) – For nearly two years Amy Klobuchar has campaigned across Minnesota railing against oil companies saying they are, "ripping us off," and "lining the pockets of their executives."  What Amy Klobuchar hasn't mentioned is that while she talks about the evils of "big oil," she is personally benefiting from those oil companies.

"Amy Klobuchar frequently says we need to 'follow the money,' well, when you follow the money of ExxonMobil it ends up in Amy Klobuchar's pocket," said Heidi Frederickson, Press Secretary for Mark Kennedy.  "The problem here isn't that Amy Klobuchar owns oil company stock, but the fact that she has been saying one thing to voters and doing another.  This is another egregious example of Amy Klobuchar’s hypocrisy."

Of the twelve largest mutual funds owned by Klobuchar, nine of them contain ExxonMobil stock.  Further, the largest single holding in those twelve funds is ExxonMobil.

"It is time for Amy Klobuchar to stop saying one thing while doing another," added Frederickson.

This is a reminder that I am a part-time consultant to Mark Kennedy's U.S. Senate campaign. Minnesota Democrats Exposed is not created, endorsed, sponsored, or authorized by any political party, candidate, or candidate's committee. It's all me and always will be and I am very proud of Minnesota Democrats Exposed.

    No disclaimer? Just a thought.

So then there must be no hypocrisy in Kennedy taking $50 grand in Big Oil PAC money, then turning around and running an ad which claims he’s taking on the oil companies.. Riiiiighht.

Can rattle off all of the stocks held by your mutual funds? Ready, go!

Many of the funds I invest in have money in companies I don’t like. I choose my investments based on fees and returns, not on individual companies. If I wanted to invest in individual companies, I would buy stocks, not mutual funds.

I’m sure that if Kennedy has any mutual funds, he has money in companies that he doesn’t agree with. Who cares? Getting PAC money is a much more significant connection that merely investing in a mutual fund.

I love how MN Campaign Report and MN Politics Guru justify the hipocracy. It’s almost as bad as Hillary Clinton serving on the Board of Wal Mart for years (and presumibly voting on whether to provide health care for Wal Mart employees as well as making a lot of money from the Wal Mart company serving on their board) and then criticizing Wal Mart for being a “bad corporate citizen.”

It’s more of the do as we say not as we do mentality typical of DFL candidates and office holders.

Oops, I accidentally spelled hipocrisy wrong. I’m sure that the spelling wizards at MN Campaign Report will catch it, so I am pointing it out in advance (rolling eyes again).

Such as his calling out of DFLers about “George Bush is not on the ballot” yet citing Mark Dayton references to Amy.

As well as Kenney’s gem today that “Jim Ramstad is not on the ballot”. I guess he pulled out of the CD 3 race. Surely this will be deleted soon though…

Such as Kennedy calling out DFLers about “George Bush is not on the ballot” yet citing Mark Dayton references to Amy. Is Mark Dayton on the ballot?

I’ve always found Mark Kennedy to be an annoying doofus, but after listening to their debate yesterday, I suspect that he may have brain damage. Or, he’s as stupid as he sounds. If you’re involved in his campaign, you may want to get him in for a MRI. This constant reference to being a CPA makes him look like not just a doofus, but also a complete nerd.

I agree with Paul,( about the CPA, not the doofus part) when my husband became a comtroller for a small business he let his accounting license expire..and was infomed he could no longer use that with his name..
Every CPA out there knows Kennedy is using this title illegally..He can call him self a bookeeper..period..

    MIchael your not playing nice…

Chris, you spelled “hypocrisy” wrong twice.

I’m getting tired of all the talk of Rep. being the only owners of oil stock and companies. Is there A way to get A list of Dems. that own same stocks and companies. I would love to be able to argue this point. THANK YOU!

“Minnesota Democrats Exposed?” Please. The only thing this blog post exposes is its author’s desperation in the face of changing tides.

Changing tides??? Oh, you mean Minnesota changing from a Liberal state to a even more Liberal state.

And how can you listen to a debate with her and call him the Doofus? She’s about the biggest simpleton nerd I have seen who should be running for local librarian, not congress. I think she’d be over whelmed.
