There was a big turnout for the primary, I understand. There’ll be a big turnout in November, too.

The more the Republicans help to get Keith’s ideas around, the better the Democratic turnout is going to be.

We know the Republicans tell lies, and the lies told about Keith will be dismissed. Instead, his face will be getting into every household in the state, and his ideas about getting us out of Iraq are going to resonate with every National Guard family in the state.

Times are changing, GOP. Best try to make the most of the time you have left.

He took everything the republicans had, and he beat them running on a simple message of peace, justice and hope. These concepts were so confusing to the republicans, they had no choice but to fear the messenger.

The DFL honchos blew their wad on the 5th CD.

DFLers from outstate and the suburbs have been complaining for months about all the attention and money given to the 5th CD primary.

hatch won what? the primary? beat lourey? so what? that surprized you? anyone who counted swanson out wasn’t thinking, hatch has an effective machine and she had a very good line to campaign on. having a tough guy woman image in these times didn’t hurt her either.

ellison’s on his way to dc, i agree. the 3/5 rule was abhorrent, no argument. who said it wasn’t for cryin out loud? but it ain’t 11/8 yet , pal.

You know who else won? Mike Hatch. For all the bullshit you read on here, that guy still knows how to win. You all were oh so ready to count Swanson out because of her ties to Hatch (the NUMBER ONE VOTE GETTER in our state), and it put her over the top.

The 3/5 rule wasn’t just about representation in the House, it was about a sub-human class with zero to very little Constitutional protection or liberty. It was disgusting and a chicken shit way out of what eventually led us to the Civil War (actually avoided four times in the previous 20 years).
Anyone who tries to defend this as a simple number game, can line themselves up with those who are apologists and admirers of the greatest traitors to America- The Confederacy.
In terms of symbolism, that rebel flag ranks just below the Nazi flag.

Will we come to regard him as a leader for freedom and justice or as a shrill voice for the islamofacists that have infected the DFL?

Time will tell. But, history and FACTS are not on KE side.

So, picking one endorsed candidate over another is a sign that we undermine our candidates? Interesting. And I like how ruthlessness in our candidate is proof they can not be trusted, but when one of your candidates acts like this, they are simply determined.

Dumbing-

Every election season, staffers from both sides of the aisle volunteer on campaigns. Since they work together, often they campaign together in blocks. There is nothing illegal with co-workers getting toegether to door knock or lit drop for candidates.

Obviously I don’t have the full story on this yet, but if that is the case, that is a major campaign finance violation.

It deserves further investigation.

People like Mike Hatch as Attorney General. He’s been a great advocate for regular people, and has agressively prosecuted companies who needed it. People would like to see that continue, and electing Lori Swanson is the way to do that. This race won’t be close in November.

I’ve been surprised at Hatch’s strength in the few polls for governor that have been released. I think his tough image is appealing to voters, despite what people here think. Everyone knows Tim Pawlenty seems to be a great guy to have a beer or a cup of coffee with. I don’t think that’s enough in this cycle. The fact that he had a bar owner take 11 percent away from him in the primary shows that he isn’t exciting the base.

George Bush did no Republicans a favor playing politics with 9/11. People are fed up with politics, so I hope Michael Brodkorp continues to use the scant weapons in his arsenal to continue to make molehills into mountains and avoid issues. He’s helping the Dems.

Two quick historical points. 1) If black people had been counted as 5/5 of a person, rather than 3/5, what would be the effect on voting power of slave states? 2) If we did revert to pre-1869, would you be a member of the Democrat party?

He will be a GREAT congressman.

Ooh, play the race card instead of admit the truth about Ellison….have you been hanging out with Spike Lee, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson this morning?

Looking at the numbers from last night, it appears that Ellison’s precence on the ticket is going to pull out a lot of people who don’t usually vote to the polls in November. I think that can only help the Democrats.

Last time I checked, Keith Ellison was just as endorsed and Steve Kelley was.

While I am sure you would like to revert to pre-1869 standards, and see him as three-fifths as endorsed as Kelley, the fact remains, Keith was endorsed, and Keith won.
