Rowley not qualified? After spending a career in law enforcement- at the federal level?

Wetterling as a citizen has been able to get more laws passed to protect our children and prosecute fully those who violate is not ready to help make laws?

Klobuchar who was twice elected in the most populus county in the state, is not ready to make laws? Even after over-seeing an office that prosecutes more than any other in the state?

Kline? What did he do that made him ready for congress besides get his ass kicked by Bill Luther twice?

Alan Fine. Alan Who?

Michelle Bachmann. This woman is so divisive tha she couldn’t get anything passed with a Republican House and Republican Governor. Cheated to get the endorsement (ask the Krinkie and Knoblach people). She’s ready?

And Mark Kennedy. His accomplishment is voting with the Adminisration with only 40% of the people support. He voted with them 90% of the time and that was enough for the GOP to clear the feild for him.

You guys are already sleep cause you’re dreaming if you think you got a chance.

Has that really changed anyone’s view who live by the words of MDE?

I am serious about Stanek. You can’t fool that many different perspectives.
Same with Ellison. His past seems to have past.

But I am voting for him, simply because he’s the alternative to Rich Stanek.

I know Rich Stanek, although not well; I met him for the first time when he was Norm Coleman’s emissary to the carry reform community, back when Norm was running for governor. Stanek made promises, never delivered, and never admitted that he hadn’t delivered, or apologized for it.

Stanek, despite his rewriting of history, was — at best — an unreliable supporter of carry reform, and during the 2002 legislative session, worked endlessly in support of keeping the unfettered discretion of the issuing authorities that had made reform necessary in the first place; he fought tirelessly for special privileges for cops; as Commissioner of Public Safety, instead of following the law — which allowed the CPS to disallow only those out-of-state permits from states where the issuance standards aren’t substantially similar to Minnesota — he came up with extra-legal requirements and disallowed all but four states, setting the precedent for the mess that some of us activists are still trying to clear up, three years later.

His private assurances to others that he won’t continue the gold-plating and featherbedding that’s been evident in McGowan’s carry permit program don’t impress me.

Just in terms of where I stand: I’m in the Fifth Congressional District; I live in south Minneapolis. I’ll be personally endorsing Governor Pawlenty and voting for him — how strong my own endorsement will be depends on whether his office finally cleans up the mess that Stanek left — as well as for Alan Fine, and most likely Jeff Johnson over Lori Swanson, despite the good job she’s done on the MCPPA while Solicitor General. (Johnson’s support is equally good, but extends over a longer period of time.)

Stanek? Nah.

Men and Women of Hennepin County who are eligible to vote, I think the choice is simple. Don’t make a mockery of Hennepin County as you continue to make of the City of Minneapolis – the City which exists despite itself, and it’s politics… Rich Stanek will do a fine job as Hennepin County Sheriff.

Stanek is 10x the person that Lopez hopes to be. Would that Ellison be willing to uphold the law and treat everyone equally (um, that little stint where the NOI called for the death of gays kinda contradicts that position) would put him in better company.

Pretty tough to explain to a suburban Mom why she should support a party whose candidates takes money from terrorist organizations.

No, Stanek was not quoting someone else. He admitted to using the racist language himself. The most disturbing part, however, is that to this day he has never admitted that he beat Anthony Freeman up merely because they were involved in an accident, and because Freeman was black. Stanek still clings to this nonsensical explanation that he was trying to save Freeman’s life because he thought Freeman’s car was about to explode. Stanek also claims that he didn’t know that Freeman was black until after the lawsuit began, which is a little incredible given the fact that Stanek pulled him from his car and cuffed him.

In short, Stanek is bad news, and avote for anyone but Stanek is a responsible, respectable choice.

Republicans are campaigning on fear this year, and it appears in a race like this, where your guy should be a lock, things aren’t going well.

Imagine how this news has to scare candidates in tight races like Gil and T-Paw.

Awad’s support of Hamas came before the group was listed as a terrorist organization, and he has frequently rebuked them since they got into the terror game.

And since when does getting a check from a college classmate for your campaign make you the new face of that organization? Maybe the republicans sell votes for campaign contributions, but to accuse Keith Ellison of acting like Jack Abramhoff without any reason proves what a partisain hack you are.

Keith Ellison has been taking money in the past few weeks from people leading an organization Charles Schumer (you might remember him, he is a Left-wing US Senator from New York) said, “we know has ties to terrorism.”

Ellison’s problems are not history, they are today.

And his problems that happened less than three weeks ago have yet to be explained in any honest way.

Stanek’s a great guy, good cop and will make a good sheriff. And yeah, he’s a tough guy and given we’ve got weenies running the Minneapolis police department we need someone with some ‘nads. It will be wonderful to have a sheriff who isn’t politically correct, and will kick a*& and take names. People like Ellison had better make sure they’re disobeying the law someplace else because Stanek won’t put up with it.

You’d have a Sheriff who can’t arrest or shoot people to help out the current County Attorney who apparently can’t prosecute.

Sounds like the typical DFL solution to our out-of-control crime problems.

It seems that Stanek has more lawn signs out than any other candidate, for what should be a fairly non-controversial election. I think his theme should be “If you want an ass-kickin’ sheriff, vote for me.” If you don’t want to reward his past bad behavior, you have to vote for Lopez.

If this site is going to take Keith Ellison to task on his past – as it should – it should be even-handed on its coverage of Stanek in the Sheriff’s race.
