RR: Your going to be sadly disappointed, I got nailled for “hacking” into a computer that had the password written on the whiteboard in the room it was in(and I had legal access to the room). This was under CO law, but the feds have similar statutes. Kunin better get a good lawyer fast and shut up, probably too late now, as he’s just made the prosecutor’s case about lack of authorization.

There are a number of potential crimes here (presuming the facts pan out). They include 18 USC 1029 (fraudulent use of an access device); 18 USC 1030 (fraud related to computers); and 18 USC 2701 (unlawful access to stored communications).

Roving Reporter, the “password” page makes it pretty clear that the pages behind it were not meant for public consumption. Hacking past web pages, while a venerated collegiate passtime, is still an intentional violation of privacy.

(“Allen”? HTF did Noah Kunin come up with “Allen”? The name “Allen” doesn’t belong to any of the parties identified in stories I’ve read on this, so the method Kunin used to get “Allen” will be interesting to learn. Somehow, “lucky guess” doesn’t pass the smell test.)

I bet you think you’re on the side of the good guys. Well, here’s a clue; good guys act like good guys, not like sleazy opportunists. Re-think.

I’m vaguely recalling a recent episode when a GOP staffer was browsing the mutually shared network in D.C. and noticed the Democrats had unsecured their portion of if. The staffer promptly found memos pertaining to Democrat strategy for stalling judicial nominations for little reason than certain lobbying groups willed it. The Democrats howled then, the GOP prostrated itself in response. I supposed “Roving Reporter” thought the Democrats were “just stupid” then for leaving their files unsecured and the GOP staffer did nothing wrong?

Just FYI. Grassroots Campaigns International — far from grassroots, it’s one of those well-funded grey area outfits. More like Astroturf.

And it’s also one of your more amusing hypocrites. While it fights for “social justice,” it’s been caught cheating its own employees out of minimum wage. It pays its door-to-door shakedown artists, excuse me, fundraisers, 30% of what they collect and a bonus of 17% more if they make quota. Given that the for-profit company has another rakeoff to pay its well-compensated execs in Boston, it’s probable that candidates are only seeing 5% to 10% of what the door-to-door dweebs like Noah are collecting.

The reason I don’t put all the contents of my hard drive on the internet is because I don’t want people looking at my stuff. When I DO put stuff on the internet, generally, it is so other people can see it.

Or, am I just being a jerk for pointing out how stupid your ad guy is?
