[...] The Kennedy campaign, of course, worked to capitalize on the matter, and I can’t blame them for that. But the campaign took things too far by pretending to shutter their site (except, of course, for the donations page). And once called on this by my friend and colleague Patrick Timmons, the campaign responded by sending out part-time staffer Mike Brodkorb to take a whack at Timmons’ kneecaps. Not because Timmons had hacked into Kennedy’s site–he hadn’t. Not because Timmons pretended to be Swiftee to gain the trust of the Kennedy campaign–he identified himself as Patrick Timmons, and gave out his home phone number. Not even because Timmons hid that he was writing on the subject–Timmons identified himself as a Minnesota blogger. No, Timmons got the kneecapping from the Kennedy campaign because he had the temerity to fail to identify the precise blog he worked for–something Brodkorb described as “unethical conduct [that] once again proves the tactics of liberal bloggers have no boundaries.” [...]

patrick is in class currently, and will respond when he gets out. He was fully aware that Michael was going to attempt a frivlous post, he was only hoping it wouldn’t happen until after he was out of his college class so that he could repond immediately.

As Michael no doubt knows, which is why he didn’t provide a link to DFLsenate.

BTW: Don’t threaten me. I have no problem with Mr. Timmons’ pursing a story. In fact, I have consistently recognized the writting of liberal bloggers in Minnesota as being second to none.

I do think Patrick should have identified himself as the blogger behind Minnesota Republican Watch and as a contributor to DFL Senate.

There ARE no security features on Mark’s Web site. To see it, all you have to do is change your browser settings to “disable META redirects” and enter any page other than the top level (find them in Google or the search engine of your choice).

This is a cheap political stunt by a dying campaign. Or maybe it’s just ineptness and a sign of the quality of his part-time campaign consultants.

Thought Mark might take the high road on this and try to start talking issues. But instead, I guess he’ll keep dragging the rest of the ticket down.

The rest of the ticket is NOT enjoying this, doofus.

Did the Kennedy web provider ask who was calling? Did Mr. Timmons identify himself as a Kennedy staffer?

I fail to see how it is unethical to not identify yourself when you are NOT ASKED TO DO SO. I can walk up to any random stranger on the street and ask them for $20. Its up to them if they want to give it to me or not.

Why is it that Kennedy can’t find competent people to control his online information? Is this the sort of leadership we can expect from him in the Senate?

“Improving your security” can amount to just deleting the most sensitive material from the site, so there’s less to steal. The website host doesn’t have to be involved in that process.
