Roving, you said:

"When he says something other than that he hates Keith Ellison, perhaps it will get covered. Does Alan Fine have any positions on any issues? Transportation, education, health care?"

I'm glad to be the first one to point out that beyond any doubt, you didn't read Fine's editorial before attacking it. And it's right there, in the post! Come on - is there a reason we should take you seriously when you do that?

Number of times "hate" is mentioned in RR's post: 3

Number of times the Strib endorsed Ellison: 0

Number of times Sabo endorsed Ellison: 0

----------------

Let's talk of Ellison's hate:

"In Minneapolis, at the event where Ellison shared the stage with him, Khalid [Abdul Muhammad] delivered ‘racist ranting,' according to a Star Tribune article. ‘If words were swords,' said the article, ‘the chests of Jews, gays and whites would be pierced.' "

"In 1997, Ellison publicly supported Joanne Jackson, executive director of the Minneapolis Initiative Against Racism, after she allegedly stated Jews were ‘among the most racist white people.'"

"Using the name Keith E. Hakim. . . Ellison claimed that splitting America into two nations, with five Southern states set aside for blacks, would be preferable to ‘liberal social programs.'"

For those keeping score at home...

Use of the word "hate" in Fine's LTE: 1
Use of the word "hate" in RR's comment: 3

Which side is preoccupied with hate?

"Xenophobia"
Unreasonable fear or hatred of foreigners or strangers or of that, which is foreign or strange.
Unless that fear is based on history, which Ellison has, nice try Rover, it is time to realize that you and Star Bias paper are ignoring the facts - Ellison’s does have intimate ties to terrorism.

The editorial pages try to write new and thought provoking pieces each day. Anyone who doesn't already understand that Alan Fine is running his campaign on hate, fear and an avoidance of the issues has simply not been paying attention when the media in the cities repeatedly covered this as his plan for the race.

When he says something other than that he hates Keith Ellison, perhaps it will get covered. Does Alan Fine have any positions on any issues? Transportation, education, health care? Is he planning to do anything in congress other than not be Keith Ellison? Voters want to hear what people believe in, not who they are afraid of. We all know that Fine is afraid of Keith Ellison. But this is not a campaign platform. It is simple xenophobia.

I applaud the Strib for not rehashing his hate.

This DFL Newsletter (the FORMER newspaper STAR TRIBUNE) may win this NOVEMBER with such propaganda tactics, but IT will be a SHORT LIVED
VICTORY ! This will seriously compromise any credibility they have left as a FAIR,INDEPENDENT
NEWS SOURCE, with their RIGGED POLLS, DAILY SMEARING of the GOP and SLANTED ARTICLES by DFL
HACKS like CONRAD deFIEBRE ( How do you write an article on Peter Hutchinson and the Independence Party, without ONCE mentioning that HE IS a former DFLer!) MCCLATCHY WILL PAY A HEAVY PRICE FOR THIS, because the STRIB's OVERT BIAS WILL
result in MORE ALTERNATIVE MEDIA COMPETITION FOR THEM !
