DFL SECRETARY OF STATE CANDIDATE ENDORSES GOP INCUMBENT MARY KIFFMEYER

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 29, 2006

This press release was sent out on Tuesday. Almost 76,000 DFLers voted for Franson in the DFL primary on September 12, 2006.

##

MINNEAPOLIS–Dick Franson, who received nearly 30 percent of the votes in the DFL primary for secretary of state, today announced his endorsement of incumbent Secretary of State Mary Kiffmeyer, a Republican.

"I like Mary Kiffmeyer and what she has done as Secretary of State," said Franson. "In the race for secretary of state, she is the best qualified.

She has done a bang-up job and will continue to do so for the next four years."

"As a retired Army 1st sergeant, military career counselor, and Minneapolis alderman, I have been a leader and have always selected people who were the best in their fields," said Franson. "I have a degree in public administration and have always focused on the people's qualifications. As such, I have sought to vote for the best qualified candidates for office.

In this race, Mary Kiffmeyer is the best choice, by far."

"In my opinion, Mary's DFL opponent doesn't have the qualifications or character to serve as secretary of state. That is why I ran against him in the Primary," said Franson.

"I want all 75,938 of the people who voted for Dick Franson in the Primary on September 12th to vote for Mary Kiffmeyer in the November 7th General Election, and I'm going to do everything I can to encourage them to do so," said Franson.

In receiving the endorsement, Kiffmeyer said, "Dick Franson has distinguished himself as a veteran and as a public servant. He's a great American, and I'm humbled and thrilled to receive his support. His endorsement really means a lot more than words–I look forward to him joining me on the campaign trail during the upcoming weeks."

Roving Reporter will return… he had to fetch a clean pair of shorts.

Franson probably feels sorry for Kiffmeyer, because her DFL opponent is such a lying sack of….

Kiffmeyer is a good person who does a good job. I’ve voted for Democratic Sheriffs and County Clerks as they did their jobs and I had no reason to believe the Republican challenger was better.

Yep, I get worried when the guy who all by 70 percent of the vote throws his support elsewhere.

I’m still waiting to see if Sharon Anderson will direct her 62,000 supporters to vote for Lori Swanson over Tom Neuville…I mean, Jeff Johnson.

What! No attacks from the Troll Patrol?

As the smell of victory quickly disappeared – the left quickly retreated to their former state of no new ideals (lets just say they cut and ran).

That is like Ole Savior endorsing Tim Pawelnty.

Mark Ritchie is no liar and should replace Mary Kiff. Remember November 2 stickers and t-shirts? That largest non-partisan voter mobilization in the nation? That was Mark. He didn’t care if you voted dem or gop, as long as you participated. That is integrity. He didn’t try to only get dems to vote, but everybody.

….of stuff that Roving just deposited in his shorts?

That’s OK, as you read this Mark Ritchie is working on getting Harold Stassen’s endorsement!

    What? He’s what? Oh, Nevermind.

Who are the Republicans endorsing in the Hennepin County Attorney race? Hard to believe it’s a race between two Democrats. Why didn’t the Republicans put up a candidate?

Dick Franson is a pickled old codger, having witnessed him drunkenly fall off of his bar stool at a VFW.

To boot, Franson is a homophobe having called one of his opponents in the Secretary of States race a slur.

While I don’t care for electoral shenanigans, thank you Arne Carlson for whatever it was you did to beat Dick Franson!

“Remember November 2 stickers and t-shirts? That largest non-partisan voter mobilization in the nation?”

Oh yeah, the ones I saw coming out of the DFL office in Duluth and later were “polling” people in Canal Park, saying they were “non-partison”.

Franson is a joke and not a serious candidate. Let’s see, in the past four years he’s ran for US Senate, Mayor of Mpls, US Congress and now Secretary of State. Oh, and a score more offices since losing his Aldermanship in the 1960s.

Kiffmeyer taking this as a serious endorsement shows how wacked out she is.
