Give Roving Reporter credit peopled for presenting facts on Foley than berating him.

I have noticed the more you present the truth with facts, Roving Reporter, the more you are called a liar. Is it that the GOP hardliners here don't want or can't handle the truth when presented?? I am getting that impression.

Honestly!! It's quite comical to read how unglued they get.

Here's what I learned from some vigorous Sunday morning channel surfing (news shows on NBC, ABC, and Fox)

Former Congressman Foley had considered retiring, but the caucus leadership kept encouraging him to run, particulary in 2006.

Tom Reynolds, the erstwhile head of the NRCC, has put out his own ad that sounds an awful lot like a 'mea culpa' regarding the Foley mess. Tim Russert ran a clip on 'Meet the Press'.

Foley is a Gay Predator.

TO: Roving, Brian Hanna, etc. Say it out loud: Foley is a Gay Predator.

TO: GOPers. Every referrence to Foley from now on must be Gay Predator Foley.

There's a reason I say this. The Dems aren't denouncing Gay Predator Foley. They can't do that. It would put the spotlight on a Gay Predator.

This would 1) alienate their base (many of whom are gay predators) and 2) hurt them in the states were amendments on the same-sex marriage ban are waiting voter approval.

So, from now on, refer to this miscreant as Gay Predator Foley.

Kyle-

Read more. There are now allegations that Foley was drunkenly cruising the page dorms. But before you accuse me of getting this news from Daily Kos and a democratic source, here is a link to the story on Fox News, with republicans asking for the investigation.

And while there are several pages now suggesting that Foley harassed them, and that not all of them are over the age of 18, the fact remains that Foley was in a position of power over them. If they are 18, it just makes his illegal act a small bit more legal. It is still sexual harassment when an employer makes a move on an employee.

This isn't about him being gay. This is about him sexually harassing boys who worked for him, and the republicans covering it up. To prove this fact, I will point to the fact that I am just as outraged at Alan Fine for beating his pregnant wife.

Patty is right on the money. Predatory signals, and swept under the rug is exactly right.

Hastert and others made a decision to turn a blind eye on the Republican Congressman breathing heavy and typing furiously on his pager on the floor of the House of Representatives.

They turned a blind eye to a Republican Congressman offering pages ice cream, wearing a tuxedo to their prom, and taking them out to fancy lunches in his expensive car.

They knew or should have known about the behavior.

Try and keep up fellas. This isn't a gay issue, this is a pedophile issue. There has been a pattern of behavior with a number of incidents that the leadership of the Republicans has choosen to ignore for the purposes of retaining a big fund raiser. This isn't the worst that the Republicans have done. We're closing in on 3000 dead service men and women for a war based on lies. The Bill of Rights has been nearly completely castrated by the Torture Bill. The war on the Middle Class has hamstrung the economy. What the majority of Americans are in agreement on, Kyle, is that it's time for a change. It's time to start investing in the power of invention and innovation instead of draining the principle. This regime has been disgraceful and has made American a laughing stock. We should all be ashamed for having put up with their nonsence for so long.

You guys truly don't get it, do you? The Republican Party is now defined as a Safe Harbor for child molesters and wife beaters. Whether the charges are technically correct or not is beside the point. Your ship is sinking fast and, instead of trying to right the ship and save the passengers, you're all busily attacking folks like me for noticing the iceberg.

Roving says: "cruising the page dorms"... and "Dennis Hastert was warned..." 1) last I read, this was confined to e-mails and IMs... with an 18 year old page. 2) Hastert was made aware of a complaint.

Stop stretching the truth.

BTW -- Are liberals now attacking a congressman for being gay? Are we in agreement that gays are immoral?

If anyone here has experienced their children or grandchildren being preyed upon, abducted, murdered, etc., raise your hands!!!

If not, your rants about Patty Wetterling are nothing but fluff. She has been there. She has suffered the loss of a child taken from her in the budding time of his life. She lives each day with that. A parent who has lost a child never gets over it.

I personally have not lost a child that way, but I experienced a near abduction/rape myself when I was 11 by a pediphile neighbor when I was growing up.

And Ralphy molests the truth. Foley's target wasn't a child and he wasn't molested. Fine's wife withdrew her complaint and the incident was expunged from the record.

Hmm, how would Hennepin County's confidential expunged records show up on a regular background check by journalists anyway? What does it mean to expunge anymore if regular background checks outside a criminal investigation can discover it?

And why might the same organization of journalists refuse to report that Ellison had a motion for a restraining order against him by a woman who called 911 and alleges Keith punched, shoved, verbally assaulted her, and left harassing phone calls, ... as recent as a year ago?

As I said elsewhere, this sealed court record about Fine in 1995 showing up in the Strib stinks, and it's not necessarily the matter that has been reported.

As I said elsewhere, this sealed court record about Fine in 1995 showing up in the Strib stinks, and it’s not necessarily the matter that has been reported.

Bill Clinton is not a serial rapist. If you can prove otherwise do so. Otherwise, shut up. And as for why democrats get a free pass on this, it is because people on this side of the sepectrum don't use the bible as a campaign reference and try to convince the people that we are more virtuious than our opponents. If you want to be the faith and values party, that's fine. But don't whine when the people turn against you for beating your pregnant wives or molesting your pages.

MB, we got Republican child molestors in DC and Republican wife beaters in Minneapolis and you're worried about sourcing ads? "Family Values" just became your worst nightmare, and parsing ad text about it is the political equivalent of rearranging Titanic deck furniture. Getta grip, MB, or you and your Wingnut Nation sleep with the fishes.

annie rice - Just wanted to say, keep up the great work! We all find it amusing, and I'm sure your compatriots here and everywhere enjoy the new and refreshing insights you bring to every conversation.

"Look at what annie rice did here! She purposely misspelled 'Dem', a common shorthand for Democrat, as 'Dim', as in something or someone that isn't bright! That works on sooooo many levels. That annie, always coming up with great stuff! She should totally do stand up."

It's people like you that keep the Republican party growing with quality people, who want to change the world for the better!

"OMG! annie rice is hilarious! Look at this one. She's done it again! She's taken the word 'Liberal', a term that is defined as: 'favoring proposals for reform, open to new ideas for progress, and tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others; broad-minded', and changed it to 'LIEberal'! I don't know what that means, maybe someone who is opposite of that stuff, but I'm sure it's funny - annie rice thinks so!"

Creative solutions to problems are a Republican's bread and butter! There's nothing they can't do, especially given 5 or 6 years and a majority in every branch of government!

"You have to read this - annie rice just posted! She's misspelled almost every word, and her punctuation is like e.e. cummings! I'm sure it's a statement of something, maybe irony?..."

Don't ask a Republican what they stand for because they'll tell you!

So thanks again annie rice! You're doing a heckava job!

Being from Minnesota I have watched the transformation of Patty Wetterling from a distraught mother to an effective advocate for children and families. She was not a politician first. She was a woman whose advocacy led her to become the Democratic candidate in the 6th district. She was much loved in this state until the Republican attack ads began to skew her image. She is truly a caring "family" person.

On the other hand, her opponent Michelle Bachmann keeps a tally in her blended family on where they stand on gay rights. (She has a gay step-sister and a majority of the family, according to Michelle's count, side with Michelle against gay rights.) I don't know about you, but my idea of a "family" advocate doesn't publicly divide their own family up into "are you with me or against me"

Wetterling is just calling a spade a spade. Coverup is an appropriate word. It is still going on as we speak.

And I thought those "Reality Checks" were garbage? I guess when they agree with Bush Republicans, they are ok, otherwise they are just partisan rhetoric.

Why can't Michael Brodkorp tell the truth.

Harm a kid. Lose an election.

Nothing like some attacks on Minnesota's mom to run up the Democratic margin in November. Just keep on slinging your mud, bud.

Why can't Patty Wetterling tell the truth?

1) Because she's desparate.
2) Because that's what Democrats do when they're desparate.

Patty's entire address was different than the couple lines you exerpted - and it went beyond the page scandal - it talked about protecting kids from harm in schools (in the context of all the school shootings). I was actually for the first time, impressed. Her appearance on Channel 11 - also shown on her website was not so impressive. That sounded shrill.

Call me silly, but when a member of congress gets boozed up and starts cruising the page dorm, I think predator is a proper term for his actions. And when Dennis Hastert now admits that he was warned about this for some time, it is not wrong to say that it has been swept under the rug.

So, where exactly is your point?
