KENNEDY CAMPAIGN: AMY KLOBUCHAR HIDES FROM DISCUSSING MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE OF CAMPAIGN

By Michael B. Brodkorb | October 26, 2006

(St. Paul, Minnesota) U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kennedy called today for a debate to be focused on national security and the war in Iraq.  Klobuchar's campaign manager, Ben Goldfarb said, "Congressman Kennedy will be able to talk about why he wants to stay the course indefinitely in Iraq in each of the three debates scheduled for the last week of the campaign."

Pat Shortridge, campaign manager for Mark Kennedy responded:

"It seems Ben Goldfarb is as wedded to substance-free sound bites as his candidate.  It's time for Amy Klobuchar to quit hiding behind her talking points and finally, once and for all, debate security policy honestly and openly.  Surely a six-year Senate term is worth an hour of Ms. Klobuchar's time to discuss the most important issue of the campaign, the most important issue facing the country.  We'd hate to see Ms. Klobuchar's debate chair as empty as her rhetoric."

This is a reminder that I am a part-time consultant to Mark Kennedy's U.S. Senate campaign. My guess, based on the stories and Kennedy’s release is that Amy’s tracking shows whatever Kennedy’s tracking shows (if the two of them have decent pollsters) and that Amy doesn’t want to talk about the War on Terror.

Kennedy’s latest ad is one of the most powerful of the cycle. Lefties definitely don’t want to hear what he has to say, but independents are probably listening.

The analysis on Amy’s response to the challenge to debate the War on Terror is clear, if she thought it was a winner for her, she’d do it. She is probably seeing the same things internally that people are suggesting the Kennedy folks are seeing (a closing of the gap), so she is ducking.

We are in a War on Terror. Amy, if you want to be Senator, then let’s talk about it.

Kennedy needs to nail her to the wall on this issue. No Democrat will win if Republicans actual coax these phoney bastards in to discussing the issues in a live setting.

They will be seen for their incompetence and for their shallow rhetoric.

Coming from you, Kyle, the term “shallow rhetoric” is especially rich.

Your rhetoric is composed of bullying people with profanity, insults, and falsehoods.

Amy can’t and won’t talk about what she does not know. Sound bites are what the DFL is all about in the 2006 election cycle. That’s why they have never provided anyone with a plan of their own.

It’s time to stand up and address the most important issue in all of politics as Mark Kennedy has done. Since this is how the DFL wants to define the GOP then let’s hear from Amy live and in person and debate the issues face to face. Show the voters what you know and how your plan would fix Iraq and Islamic Terrorisum around the globe.

If you don’t have a plan then vote for Mark Kennedy on Nov. 7th because he is the most honest about the issue and is not running away like Amy and the DFL.

BH, I think you’re thinking of Alex L…. and yourself.

Ya’ll an come down to my neck of the woods in November for the Klobuchar-Kennedy debate. I’ll be there wearing my favorite color and wearing my Klobuchar pins.

Kyle: // BH, I think you’re thinking of Alex L…. and yourself. //

No, Kyle. Your foul mouth needs to be washed out with soap.

Actually, I see Kyle claims to have “served”. That would make him quite a bit older than I would have guessed. That also earns him a certain amount of lattitude with profanity, I suppose.

I take that back about the mouth-washing, then, Kyle.
