This is disgusting. Period. End of Story.

  2. Dumbing it Down For the Left Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:29 AM

I agree totally. Kerry’s comments were disgusting.

Interested Observer is right. Kerry should apologize.

  3. Jeff Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:32 AM

in case you missed it, Kerry has apologized:

  4. Interested Observer Says:

Dumbing, I meant the RNC ad. And I’ve never voted Democrat in my life. The Bushies know what he meant, are ignoring it, and making stuff up. Embarassing.

  5. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:40 AM

    Jeff: Kerry has not apologized.

  6. Jeff Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:46 AM

Michael, did you read what i posted? looks like an apology to me.

should he apologize directly to the troops? sure. but saying he did not apologize is not accurate, he has. maybe just not to whom you want, but he has apologized. it’s semantics.

  7. Interested Observer Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:47 AM

Michael, I’m with you on a lot of stuff, but not this type of crap. This is the kind of stuff that doesn’t help the overall debate. The President, like all who saw/read the entire text, know Kerry botched what was admittedly a bad joke. There was no intent to say our troops are stupid lowlifes with no other options, but they run this kind of stuff to exploit it. It does not make me proud to be a lifelong Republican.

  8. Bryan Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:48 AM

For a lot of people… what John Kerry said was right.

The military effectively targets people from poor areas with poor schools with financial incentives to join. Upon signing, they are trained and shipped off to Iraq 2, 3, 4 times to fight a war based on lies.

George Bush should be ashamed of himself.

  9. JOB Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:50 AM

“Let me be crystal clear” – Kerry has not apologized!

I never knew that my brothers and father were so stupid that they had to join the military to make something of themselves – My eldest brother has been in the National Guard for 30 years – has a BA degree. Another brother graduated West Point (1980) and has a Master’s degree. My father retired military after 38 years – has a two bachelor degrees plus a Master’s degree in Education.

If this is the best people we can find to serve – we’re in real trouble ;-)

Wow Bryan, I’ll be sure to tell my college-educated, two-degree-holding neighbor, who is retired Air Force, that’s he was duped by the military, just to get some extra $$. Bet he’ll appreciate that sharp observation.

  11. Jeff Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:57 AM

i think this just goes to show, how terrible our options were in ’04 for President.

let’s get some decent (ie: non-douchebags) people up for it on both sides in ’08.

  12. Dave of the VRWC Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 10:59 AM

The CFO of the company I worked for went to the Mideast. He’s not an uneducated idiot.

And lets go with that debate, the people who are products of poorly run schools enlist, isn’t that good? They will grow up fast, learn skills, get excellent resume builders. One of my biggest regrets is never servicing. Instead I went straight to college and wasted four years drinking beer and trying to find easy classes (went back a second time for an education).

  13. Dave of the VRWC Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 11:02 AM

Int Observer. The more I hear the recording, the more I think he may have been calling Bush stupid and educated, not our military personal. But then again I think of his 1971 testimonies, and things like what Bryan says on this thread. Or the “peace” protest I witnessed in Duluth a few years ago where the so-called “peace activits” ridiculed and yelled insults to our servicemen and women particapting in a demonstration excercise on Park Point.

  14. Ann Coulter Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 11:08 AM

ANN COULTER: “Soldiers are just cowards with their backs against the wall. The lowest IQ men in our society, those incapable of normal careers enlist. Their choice in life; prison or the military. Some will have to die in the support of our cause.”

    Intervention Magazine, 11/06/03

  15. Peter Says:

    “Kerry apologizes for ‘botched’ joke”

Thats a weird headline if he hasnt apologized…
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061101/ts_nm/usa_elections_kerry_dc

Please keep talking about Iraq and how the President has us stuck in Iraq because of his failed “stay the course” policy. Its a beautiful strategy.

  16. annie rice Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 11:20 AM

Nope, Kerry said exactly what he meant……..

The more the dims try to rationalize it, excuse it, defend it….the more the nail is driven into their political coffin.

Thank you Kerry for finally speaking from your inner soul and telling us what you and your lefty friends think of the men and women who serve our country!

  17. Interested Observer Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 11:22 AM

Dave, Kerry obviously misspoke, and clearly has no clue how to clear up the confusion. But stupid he is not. Even if he believed Brian’s um, logic, he would not say it as he did at this critical juncture. That’s why I’m disgusted with my side’s response. When is a party ever going to take the highroad?? Here should have been the White House response:

“We’re assuming that Mr. Kerry misspoke, and intended to insult not our troops in harms way in Iraq, but the President of the United States. We would hope in the future that Mr. Kerry and all elected officials, whether they agree or disagree with the President, would abstain from personal attacks on the President’s intelligence. Such attacks disrespect the office, and detract from a serious debate on the important issues of today, including the best method of securing peace in the Middle East.”

    Highroad.

But instead we get this ad, which ignores the plain fact to anyone interested enuf to care that Kerry misspoke. It insults my intelligence, and makes we wish I had better Rebulicans to vote for…

  18. Leaving the Left Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 12:13 PM

Ann Coulter is not an elected official. John Kerry takes an oath as a senator. You are comparing apples and oranges. Spin if you must, the real world knows it was wrong what he said.

  19. Bryan Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 1:52 PM

“Wow Bryan, I’ll be sure to tell my college-educated, two-degree-holding neighbor, who is retired Air Force, that’s he was duped by the military, just to get some extra $$. Bet he’ll appreciate that sharp observation.”

Of course there are plenty of very intelligent people in the military. Intelligence has nothing to do with who does and does not join the military. I simply said that the military will have a better chance of recruiting someone who doesn’t have the financial means or the education to pursue other alternatives.

I have many friends in the military. They are very smart. They are also mostly there to help pay for college and get an education that wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.

So, what John Kerry said was a botched joke. Does he over generalize? Yes. Should he apologize? No.

  20. Bryan Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 1:54 PM

Did Bush advocate Lesbianism when he said OBGYNs were being prevented from practicing their love with women in this country?

Of course not. We understood that. Republicans don’t get it, apparently.

  21. Bryan Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 1:58 PM

that’s true, the real world does know that it was “wrong” what he said, and when they consider what he actually meant to say, much todo ’bout nothin’

  22. Gwen Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 2:27 PM

That wasn’t an apology from John Kerry. The only time he says “I’m sorry” is when he’s talking about something a Republican is/has done. The rest of his interview is him trying to make excuses. He goes on and on about how you can’t do poorly in school and serve in the military, but never actually apologizes for what he said. Saying it was a botched joke is not an apology. Saying “I’m sorry I said something that implies soldiers serving in Iraq are stupid” would be an apology.

I will give Imus credit for telling Kerry to go home and be quiet – and for actually cutting him off when Kerry wouldn’t be quiet.

  23. Master of None Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 3:41 PM

Here’s another botched joke by Kerry

” They had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Genghis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the country side of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war, and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country.”

  24. Brian Hanna Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 7:11 PM

Kerry spoke the truth to the committee, and recently when he bashed Bush.

Republicans refuse to hear the truth, instead attacking the messenger.

  25. Kyle Says:
    November 1st, 2006 at 8:48 PM

Brian, you wouldn’t know the truth if it bit your pathetic head off. You’re too lazy to research anything yourself. And too blind and dumb to process it when it’s presented to you.

John Kerry is a fucking liar. He’s a goddam traitor. And he’s a pathetic excuse for a human.

You two have a lot in common.
