PELOSI’S FIRST SETBACK
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 16, 2006

A very unhappy John Murtha looks on as Pelosi and Hoyer embrace after his election victory as majority leader.
This is from Stuart Rothenberg's column on Political Wire:
"Pelosi's political antennae appear much less sensitive than I assumed, and if you are a Republican looking for a quick reason to think that you may be able to take back the House in 2008, the incoming Speaker’s intervention in the majority leader race – a race that her candidate lost rather decisively – has to give you some reason for optimism.
Instead of generating front page stories about the Democrats' agenda, Pelosi has made herself and divisions within her party the story du jour.
In publicly backing Rep. John Murtha – and apparently strong-arming Democrats to support him over Hoyer – Pelosi threw her support to someone who has plenty of ethics baggage and contempt for the reformist agenda that many Democrats, and many Americans, seem to want." This doesn’t change her agenda at all though. I think it is a good thing for the Democratic Party, and will show America that at least the Dems aren’t in lock step with their leader to the extent of covering up for every mistake made by the leader.

John Murtha is a crooked politician.

Is it just me, or does Rahm Emmanuel look like the evil emporer from Star Wars – minus the robe – in that picture?

Wow. What an uncomfortable-looking bunch that is.
I’m uncomfortable just looking at their uncomfortability.

Frank, Rahm and Jack were mad because they had to clean their language up in order to be able to speak to the public.

Murtha looks like his diaper is full.

Yep, those Fox News links are just great. How would you respond if I linked to daily kos for a story?
Damn, though, I really would like to see a picture/clip of Pelosi without the frozen smile on her face; it’s hard not to grimace when looking at that so often. It would have been great if she would have come out of the room frowning, headed straight for the cameras, and said “Shit, that sucked the big one.”

Dude, – why not comment on the story not the links – the facts are Murtha is dirty and he was caught on tape – no phony CBS letter here.

Murtha guilty… of what? Not reporting a bribe attempt. He repeately turned down the bribes.
Murtha is just one more great American veteran that is getting slandered by divide-and-conquer Republicans.
Pitiful.

Michael, maybe you should start a poll on here to vote on which smile looks more contrived: Pelosi’s or Hoyer’s.
