WALZ VOTED FOR PELOSI, SUPPORTED HOYER AFTER HE WAS AGAINST HIM

By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 17, 2006

"WASHINGTON — Rep.-elect Tim Walz of Mankato on Thursday joined fellow House Democrats in reaffirming Rep. Nancy Pelosi as their leader and the next House speaker, while also signaling his support for Rep. John Murtha, her unsuccessful candidate for majority leader.

Murtha, a combat decorated former Marine from Pennsylvania, infuriated Republicans last year with his call for a quick withdrawal from Iraq. He lost his bid for the post on a secret 149-86 ballot to Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md. The victory nets Hoyer the No. 2 job in the majority leadership, which puts him in charge of day-to-day legislation on the House floor and gives him a key role in the caucus agenda.

An Army National Guard veteran, Walz refused this week to publicly state his preference between Murtha and Hoyer, both of whom campaigned with him. After the vote Thursday he declined to reveal who he chose, but appeared to indicate his preference for Murtha in an interview.

One of Murtha's key allies in the leadership fight, Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., counted Walz among the minority of the 40 House Democratic freshmen who backed him. 'I think so,' said Moran, when asked if Murtha had the backing of Walz and other freshmen veterans.

For his part, Walz said, 'I ended up voting for Hoyer in the end,' via a ceremonial unanimous voice vote after Hoyer won the secret ballot. Walz quickly added, 'I'm fully behind the new majority leader.'" Source: Rochester Post-Bulletin, November 17, 2006

Congressman-elect Tim Walz can't be called a straight-talker.  Did you read this article?  It appears he supported Hoyer, after he was against him.

You really must be desperate from the unceremonious ass whipping you recieved a few weeks ago… you forget to highlight the rest of the sentence…

“via a ceremonial unanimous voice vote after Hoyer won the secret ballot.”

    Putz.

    *sigh*
    God, you’re tiresome.
Nice use of the word “appears.”

    from the article:

Walz said, ‘I ended up voting for Hoyer in the end,’ via a ceremonial unanimous voice vote after Hoyer won the secret ballot.

So, in a secret vote, he likely voted for Murtha. Or maybe Hoyer. We don’t know.

But we know from that final quote in the Strib that he’s only referring to the “ceremonial unanimous voice vote” when he says he ultimately voted for Hoyer in the end.

Illusionary mountain out of a non-existant molehill.

The GOP is back in the underdog role, where they operate best. Which is good, because then they’re simply fighting and complaining, as opposed to incompently governing. Roy Blunt’s statement this morning amounts to the GOP failing to open a tight jar lid, and then throwing it at the Dems spitefully, saying “Here, you try it if you’re so strong…”

you’re not even good at distorting the truth anymore. a pro would have left out the ceremonial voice vote part. you should turn this operation over to kyle.

    putz.

    “God, you’re tiresome.”

Don’t you just enjoy people who aren’t forced to come here calling things like this “tiresome”?

Might I suggest you go elsewhere? Comments like that, and “putz”, are timesome to me.

“The GOP is back in the underdog role, where they operate best.”

    - – -

The Dems remain in the delusional role, thankfully, where they operate . . . well, not “best”, but maybe we’ll just say “comfortably.”

They hold the official vote, Pelosi . . sorry, I mean Murtha . . . loses big time, then the Dems all get into a room for a Group Hug and have this ceremonial, faked “voice vote” – yeah, they even call it a vote! – where they unanimously vote for . . . wait for it . . . The Winner!

So now, they can all say they voted the correct way! And even Walz, who wouldn’t seem to have been there long enough to have learned these silly, devious tricks, announces that he voted for Hoyer after he voted against Hoyer. THAT took a long time, huh? (There must have been an “incoming mamber ProperSpeak” seminar yesterday.)

Migawd. These schlubs can’t even handle reality alone, amongst themselves.

I think the good ole boys spanked Pelosi but good when they nixed Murtha. She may think she’s got the power…but we all know who pulls her strings.

So Walz is a lap dog for Nancy Pelosi, being one of the few House freshmen to vote for Murtha. So much for independent leadership.
