LIBERAL BLOGGER WRITES THAT RYBAK’S CHANCES IN ’08 HURT BY “APPOINTING AN UNQUALIFIED LESBIAN TO BE FIRE CHIEF”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | November 30, 2006
"Finally, does this hurt Rybak '08. I have to say yes. But if there really is such a thing as Rybak '08, then I have to say that he has larger statewide acceptability problems than appointing an unqualified lesbian to be Fire Chief through affirmative action… not to say he can't pull it off…" Source: MN Publius

Unrelated, but wanted to let you know that Ellison is refusing to be sworn in with the Bible, and wants to use the Koran ….
Ridiculous.
November 30th, 2006 at 6:14 PM
How exactly is that ridiculous? Jews swear in on the Torah, Christians have refused to ‘swear’ and instead have affirmed their oath, and others have used prayer books.
I think you’re either hyperventillating because it feels good, or a bigot.

I think a stack of Marvel comic books would be most appropriate in Keith X’s case.
November 30th, 2006 at 7:17 PM
Keith,
Jason Lewis just reported that there are only two options of swearing in, the Bible, and a non-religious oath. Are you sure that Jews use the Torah? I heard most of them use the Bible.
November 30th, 2006 at 7:26 PM
My take is that the Bible is considered customary in the US, even if you are non-Christian. To refuse it reaks of anti-Christian bigotry. Remember what happened when Arizona decided not to give the government boys an extra paid day off on MKL day? Everyone said it was racist. I see the same thing here.
November 30th, 2006 at 8:00 PM
Koran or Bible, it won’t keep him honest either way.

I think a stack of Marvel comic books would be most appropriate in Keith X’s case.
Or a stack of unpaid parking tickets.

North, great comment.
Dare2sayit.com – Also a good and factually correct statement. How more people don’t find this repulsive is mind-boggling to me.
First this guy snubs the POTUS (no matter if you like the POTUS or not, you don’t snub him/the office as a freshman congressman), then he refuses to swear in on the Bible.
Who knows, maybe he’ll make his debut issue in congress a “crusade” against “the man” and attempt to villify the american public as Muslim-haters, especially the brave passengers of that US Airways flight at MSP last week who had 6-Muslim passengers removed. … OH, WAIT …

It is SOOOOO entertaining to watch you Republicans plot for a future … that has little interest in you, because of your mismanagement for the past six years.
Keep posting … I appreciate the entertainment!
Do any of you actually “believe” the party line you’ve been suckled on, or ist it simply connecting-the-dots on your programming to date?
I’m not as meanspritited as it may seem, , which I guess truly shows I’m not a Republican.
December 1st, 2006 at 8:00 AM
Dare2Sayit, I think you were directing your comment towards me.
And Jason Lewis is a dipshit, but that’s besides the point, if you can tell me where in the constituion it says that you have to be sworn in on a Bible or use a non-Religious oath, I’ll give you a cookie.
But I’ll give you a hint, it’s not found here:
Amendment 1: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…
The key line there is the “prohibiting the free exercise thereof…”
I swear someone on the radio says something and you nimrods take it as the lords truth. God knows it’s too damn hard for you all to look up the documents yourself.

Likewise– went to my handy dandy Constitution (I keep one handy) and stumbled across this…
“…The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
(Article 6) http://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/constitution.articlevi.html
So, maybe you should
1.Start thinking for yourself
2.Call up Jason Lewis and let him know that he’s a putz.

Rybak is a classic example of what happens when you pick a fire chief because of what she does in the bedroom.
Personally, I like fire chiefs that put out fires and resscue people.

Just remeber Minneapolis is a liberal run city. Does not matter who they pick to represent them, it is the great liberal experiment and it is failing so bad, they will not be able to hide for much longer. Liberals are so proud of themselves for the list of nut jobs they have voted in for themselves it will be funny to watch them drive the city into total poverty and a crime wasteland.
Poor schools, higher crime, higher taxes and the such are what the folks of the 5th will see for their liberal voting records. What I do find odd is that things just keep getting worse and worse for that arear yet the knuckle heads there keep voting for the same type people and hope it will get better. It never will and will not be long before both Minneapolis and St Paul need the rest of the state to bail them out of the mess they are headed for. At some point the country will wake up and realize just how bad democrats and liberals are and dismiss them from office.

Sean, I was listening to Jason last night, and he reported (well, actually a listener called in to report) that one does NOT have to be sworn into national office using a Bible, or any other religious text.
Maybe if you’d actually listen to his show, you’d have first hand knowledge of what he did/did not say. But I guess maybe you were listening to the last gasps of Err Amerika, right?
December 1st, 2006 at 11:25 AM
Dear SDD– I didn’t listen to Jason Lewis’ show because I’ve got better things to do with my time. Like shake hands with lepers.
But what I was responding to is commenter dare2sayit.com’s comment (#4 on this thread) that said…
“Jason Lewis just reported that there are only two options of swearing in, the Bible, and a non-religious oath. Are you sure that Jews use the Torah? I heard most of them use the Bible.”
I only responded to his first statement and not his second, which is just as wrong as the first (see:Debi Wasserman-Schultz).
So, I was not wrong in attacking Jason Lewis, dare2sayit either made it up, or incorrectly quoted Lewis.
Either way, if you were read the comment thread you’d know as much.
Hugs and Kisses,

Further, ‘brad’ on comment number 8, said in reference to the afformentioned post…
“Dare2sayit.com – Also a good and factually correct statement. How more people don’t find this repulsive is mind-boggling to me.”
Which shows that you guys are a bunch of goobers.

Sean, I wonder why you come here when you claim this site has no credibility??
Maybe you are paid to try and keep the truth down about your crowd??
I find it so funny how liberals have to visit the other sides web sites to try and keep any other views from getting out.
Every so often I find myself wishing I could get my hands on one of the liberals and choke them out.
Sean likes to sign off with “hugs & kisses” where I would like to offer chokes and armbars.
December 1st, 2006 at 12:34 PM
I come here because I’m easily amused, and bored. What’s it to you?
I am not paid to share the good news with you guys. I do this of my own voilition. And I don’t see how my coming on here and arguing in the comment threads is “keeping any other views from getting out.”
Paranoid much big Kahuna.
And you can be as violent as you wanna be big boy, but I’d just give you a big ol’ smackeroo… a big sloppy kiss, ’cause I’ve got nothing but love, even for those people that disagree with me.
Smoochie boochies.

In my faith, we do not worship the Bible. That would be idolatry, since it is God alone that we should worship. Reading the Bible, however, is quite another matter. That wonderful book can be instructive in so very many ways. In fact, I would recommend that those who are upset by someone having some respect for the Qur’an actually spend a little time in Bible reading it by themselves.
I won’t suggest specific passages for you. I won’t give you some phony Readers Digest version or tell you what to think. Just read the Bible, for once. You may be quite surprised at what happens to you.
By the way, Islam also considers the Bible to be a holy book, just as the Bible contains the Torah (which some call the Old Testament). Islam also considers Jesus and, in fact, all the figures of the Old Testament to be holy.

Just curious.

The object of being sworn in is to tap the most idealistic, noble, inherently honest aspect of one’s being as a predisposition to making a solemn pledge to uphold the Constitution. Whatever it takes to get to that aspect within Keith Ellison I’m all for it.
Some Christians might actually be relieved that he’s not using the bible as his totem of central “best self”. I said might. If he were to swear upon something he does not beleive in that would make his pledge a bit hole-y.
As long as they don’t militantly chant “Allah Akbar” and burn W in effigy afterward I’ll be pleasantly relieved. That would seem a bit out of line to me.
But then again I’m told that I’m a bigot because I questioned, and continue to question, the Congressman-elect’s character.
I pray that Ellison gets his act together and serves Minnesota well. Amen.

If you think the libs voted in a joke with Mr. Dayton, wait till you see what a stain Mr. Ellison becomes. He will be the next biggest joke ever and may even top what a fool Wellstone was.
Well then again Wellstone was pretty bad and accomplished very little yet his followers drank so much of the Kool Aid they still think he did great things. They of course cannot name any of the accomplishments, but he “was for the little fella”. So nice to not see him make such a fool of this state any longer.

I do not currently, nor have I ever worked for SEIU.

Somebody please take the smiley face button away from the Big Kahuna. It makes his/her comments look like they came from Britney Spears.

At least Paul Wellstone was vetted by his party and put through the scrutiny ringer before he was endorsed. Ellison was not.
As much as I disagreed with Paul Wellstone’s politics he was an honorable man who treated people well regardless of their party affiliation.
Paul and Sheila were unrepentant left-wing whackos but they were people of fine character and integrity. No charges were ever made to teh contrary that I can recall.
Comparing Keith Ellison to Paul Wellstone because they share a fiery charismatic speaking style is where the comparison begins and ends.
I knew Paul Wellstone. Keith Ellison is no Paul Wellstone.
Whatever reputation and legacy that Ellison will leave is wholly up to him, the choices he makes from day to day, and his ongoing unflinching support from the Star Tribune.
Wasn’t it wonderful to have the Star Tribune explain Muslim prayer rituals in the paper today? Can’t wait until they do their big piece on Advent, Yom Kippur,Christmas, Lent, Rosh Hoshana, Easter, The Rosary, Transubstantiation, the Sacraments, etc.
The resurrection of investigative journalism?
Bring it on!

The simple fact is that it’s a slap in the face to this countries history and traditions. I wouldn’t expect anything less from this man.
