It's too bad those folks didn't get a chance to watch the FBI tapes at Zimmermann's trial like I did. They would have heard stuff like this:

[...Carlson says “the problem is the Sabris, they’re poison.” Zimmermann adds, “it’s like grabbing a tar baby if you touch them.” ...]

That quote and more from the Zimmermann trial at the Minneapolis Confidential Blog:

The "Pod Squad", huh? That's cute. Next we will find out that Olson and Bachmann were also in some kind of crusty co-op cult... if that were true, it would ALSO be irrelevent.

Obviously it is a very slow news week for both Avidor and MDE.

Why don't you take on the war in Somalia, or Biden's approach to the "Surger" surge for deploying more troops in Iraq, against the better judgement of the generals in Iraq?

Charley, you'll be interested in this

The story covers how John Murtha uses a non-profit agency (appropriately named "PAID") to funnel money to lobbyists, who in exchange give him campaign money.

The story gets "richer"... Read it to learn how Murtha helped Nancy Pilosi's nephew make millions from a U.S. Navy deal... Must have something to do with her unabashed loyalty to him when she pushed him for the majority leader post.

I wonder how her fight against a culture of corruption is going...

In the case of Katrina bids though, there should be an investigation. My bet is though, it will swallow up the Louisiana DFL delegation pretty quickly. They might even find more cash in Jefferson's freezer.

First, Dean is a GREEN PARTY MEMBER.

Dean came to the DFL convention twice to get the endorsement and he was shown the door with a DFL bootstamp on his ass.

How many Republican office-holders are in jail now who just making laws a couple of years ago?

Charley Underwood's post is pretty interesting.

The comments on MN Speak and Democratic Underground though are somewhat bizarre, as is the assertion that anyone with the DFL Progressive Caucus invited Zimmerman. I was there, no one invited me, there is a public calendar on this website: http://www.progressivecaucus.net/

The idea that any caucus of the DFL should sanction someone based on criminality, consider them radioactive, etc., is actually a sign of mistrust of the legal process - a judgement has been made and a sentance will be carried out. THat's a criminal matter, but criminals, legally free from incarceration, if only temporarily, who behave themselves can certainly show up at public meetings. Bush has invited many, many Iran Contra criminals back into government (appointed them to posts like SecDef and heading the TIA program). If the next president pardons Zimmerman and appoints him to a cabinet level post, we have an equivalent crime. Maybe that's the kind of pattern that really makes people question the integrity of the justice system.

Also, there is DFL PC, and a Progressive Caucus that is more inclusive and Greens, Progressive IP members, even Progressive GOPers are welcome. I am not really a Democrat at this point, I resigned my party positions because I did not want to play along and accept bait and switch tactics and suppport Hatch when Lourey, and even Hutchinson, were clearly better on the issues. Perhaps I'll sign up again at the 2007 Beltrami Co. convention, but I'd need to see some impulse towards reform and real grassroots democracy vs. machine politics in that unit, and the 8th CD and State DFL organizations as well.

Dean "Zimmerperson" Zimmermann is a member of the Green Party of Minnesota, not a DFLer. He hates the DFL almost as much as Mike does. It was the DFL that redrew his district which doomed his re-election even without the bribes.

By the way Mike, you spelled his last name incorrectly: it is with two n's on the end.

Speaking of bribes, did you see the papers this morning? The Govt Accounting Office is estimating that ONE BILLION DOLLARS is probably a very low estimate for the corruption growing out in no-bid post-Katrina bribes. The figure it's probably closer to two billion.

The oddest thing is, it's mostly the same companies that have been making all that money in Iraq, while the US death toll passes the number of those who died on September 11.

Maybe we could get Norm Coleman to investigate this one as well, when he finishes his other investigations.

You mean that affable liberal darling found guilty of taking bribes? Oh, don't be so hard on poor Dean. He thinks the right thoughts, he can't be of any harm...
