MEET A MARK RITCHIE CONTRIBUTOR: FINANCIER OF ULTRA-LIBERAL ACTIVISM DRUMMOND PIKE

By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 1, 2007

Drummond Pike, the founder and president of the Tides Foundation, contributed $500.00 [joint contribution with wife Liza] on September 2, 2006 to Mark Ritchie’s campaign.

WHAT IS THE TIDES FOUNDATION?

“The Tides Foundation gives to causes to the left – sometimes way to the left – of the Democratic mainstream. It has been a big supporter (to the tune of $1 million over the last three years) of the ‘living wage’ movement, which seeks to force urban firms to pay up to double the minimum wage – a sneaky way of bringing socialist economics to America’s cities. Tides has also helped bankroll environmentalist radicalism, shelling out $205,000 over a two-year period to the Ruckus Society, a wacky anarchist Green organization, and nearly $500,000 over the past decade to the alarmist National Resources Defense Council, responsible for the Alar scare a while back, which wrongly convinced people that eating apples sprayed with the chemical put them at higher risk of getting cancer. Growers needlessly lost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Most recently, Tides has donated $500,000 to set up the Iraq Peace Fund, which contributes to a motley assortment of hard-left groups that opposed the war. Among the recipients: MoveOn.com, the George Soros-funded outfit that notoriously featured online ads comparing President Bush with Hitler.” Source: The Boston Herald, April 14, 2004

“The Tides Foundation and its closely allied Tides Center, which was spun off from the Foundation in 1996 but run by Drummond Pike, distributed nearly $66 million in grants in 2002 alone. In all, Tides has distributed more than $300 million for the Left. These funds went to rabid antiwar demonstrators, anti-trade demonstrators, domestic Islamist organizations, pro-terrorists legal groups, environmentalists, abortion partisans, extremist homosexual activists and open borders advocates.” Source: FrontPage Magazine website, accessed January 1, 2006

I would suggest reading this article from Front Page Magazine which details the ultra-liberal groups supported by the Tides Foundation. This group is crazy.

One of the best ways to learn about Minnesota’s new Secretary of State, Mark Ritchie, is to examine the background of his camaign contributors. Over the next week, I’ll be posting information about the ultra-liberal, leftist, pro-Castro, anti-business, communist sympathizers who contributed to Mark Ritchie’s campaign.  Check back tomorrow for another post on a Ritchie campaign contributor.

Well, it’s “Moveon.org”, not com, but anyway, don’t forget that they are an anti-Catholic hate group also. I really don’t care if you believe me, but if I get the time later tonight, I’ll post a source for their Catholic bashing.

BFD. Left-leaning groups give money to left-leaning politicians. Rightwingers quote FrontPage magazine as a legitimate source for a story. Tell me something I don’t know.

Wow – $500 bucks total from him and his wife. Mac Hammond and his wife, of the Lying Word Christian Center, gave Michele Bachmann $5900.

    Hey blueJ

Take a look at the contribution limits before you express your ignorance.
