PIONEER PRESS CRITICIZES HATCH DECISION TO STAY
By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 3, 2007
"Hatch said Swanson pointed out that the law partners who wanted to hire him 'wouldn't show up to scrape you off the sidewalk unless you could bill a client for it.' He said that helped him decide to stay on under Swanson. He later told the Associated Press he would be part of a team working on complex litigation and would not dictate the office's agenda.
This calls to mind the crack of former St. Paul Mayor George Latimer when he was called to comment on the doings of his successors. He would say that former pols should keep their cold, dead hands out of the business of their successors. The joke has a point: A clean break is best." Source: Pioneer Press, January 3, 2007

Marvelous point made by Hatch as to the differnce between the rigors of private practice and the convenience, manageability, comfort and lack of accountability associated with the government teat.
