“NONPARTISAN” SECRETARY OF STATE RITCHIE TO APPEAR AT DFL FUNDRAISER
By Michael B. Brodkorb | January 4, 2007
According to an email sent out by the Minnesota DFL, Secretary of State Mark Ritchie will appear at a DFL fundraiser/inaugural ball.
But Ritchie promised to be a "nonpartisan" Secretary of State:
- "… the office of Secretary of State must operate in a non-partisan manner." Source: Mark Ritchie press release, June 7, 2005
- "Imagine an Office of the Secretary of State where non-partisanship is the guiding principle…" Source: Mark Ritchie speech at DFL Convention, June 11, 2006.
- "I will protect your vote by restoring trust and nonpartisanship to the secretary of state's office…" Source: Pioneer Press, November 1, 2006
Should a "nonpartisan" Secretary of State attend DFL fundraisers or events? It will be tough for Ritchie to claim he is "nonpartisan" when he attends DFL fundraisers.

You must be so niave MDE to try and hook a politician on a promise.
Politicians make promises and break them all the time.
Example – Reagan letting people believe he was even a little be conservative.
Get over that fact and move on.
Stop Whining!!!

What the ? dude? You must really be pissed off that Secretary of State Mark Ritchie had no idea who you were (and could care less about you and MDE). OR, Mary K. is paying or has promised big bucks or a big contract for you.
Yes. The office will be run in a nonpartisan manner by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, BUT Mark Ritchie is a DFLer, a progressive, and a community activist. That’s his base, those are his supporters and his super volunteers.
You can be an independent voice and still maintain a party affiliation you know.
