FRANKEN HAS BROKEN PROMISE ON MAKING CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCEMENT

By Michael Brodkorb | February 1, 2007

Al Franken said on Monday that he'd make sure his "listeners, are the first to know after Franni" that he was running for the U.S. Senate:

"A lot of you have asked about the possibility that I'll run for senate here in Minnesota in 2008.  I'm definitely giving it serious consideration, and I plan to make a decision soon, and announce that.  Hopefully not on the day that Barack Obama makes his decision and announces that.  If I'm ready to make a decision before the show ends on the fourteenth, I'll make sure you, my listeners, are the first to know after Franni." But Franken's already broken this promise by calling DFL elected officials BEFORE telling his listeners:

"The Star Tribune confirmed today that Franken made calls to at least two members of the Minnesota congressional delegation in Washington to break the news. The sources spoke on the condition of anonymity, not wanting to pre-empt Franken's announcement.

'From his voice to my ears, he's running,' said one House member, who relayed the remark via his press secretary.

'I can tell you we got one of those calls,' said a top-ranked aide for another House member." Source: Source: Star Tribune, January 31, 2007

Oh crap! All 24 listeners to Air America are going to get wicked pissed!

Actually, Al then said that he’d probably should let his children know, too, and then a couple of other people close to him.

He then mentioned that his listeners would be the 8th to know.

Al will be all over the place with promises he will never keep. The man cannot help but lie as he has done it for so long. I also get a kick out of how he likes to make fun of Rush and his weight yet Al is pretty darn tubby himself. :)

In fact one might call him a big FAT liar. ;)

The way I see it, there’s a difference between “telling something to a few close people” and “announcing something.” “Announcement” implies a formal statement to a large group whereas “telling something to a few close people” implies pretty much the opposite.

If people are going to get irritated about anything, it should be Franken’s apparent habit of telling important personal information to people he can’t trust to keep a secret.

So, if you don’t post something about Al Franken every 6 hours, no matter how trivial or invented of a contriversy, do you feel that you have, in some way, failed in your noble quest?

Graham: No, not at all. Nothing can stop Franken.
