SIEFERT CALLS JANUARY ‘07 “THE WORST OPENING MONTH OF A SESSION IN LEGISLATIVE HISTORY”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 5, 2007
"ST. PAUL — Rep. Marty Seifert, known for his colorful, if unflattering, descriptions of DFL activity in the House, turned to classic TV analogies Thursday in declaring January 2007 as possibly 'the worst opening month of a session in legislative history.'
Seifert, the House Minority Leader, cited Jackie Gleason and the 'Honeymooners,' as well as the Maytag Repairman and the Energizer Bunny in presenting a list of 71 critiques of the DFL’s handling of the House during January.
'The honeymoon between me and Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher continues, but even Jackie Gleason had to give a frank assessment periodically,' Seifert said on the floor of the House." Source: New Ulm Journal, February 5, 2007

Methinks Marty Seifert should have done a better job of selling the Republican vision in before November if he wanted things to be different in January.

He’s just speaking truth to power, Fred.

It is a cold day in February when we see the words “thinks” and “Fred Gavin” in the same sentence.

Finally, the party that hates all minorities has become one.
The irony is too good for words.

This is the farthest Rep. Siefert will ever advance in politics so it’s nice to see him enjoying himself.

I have never heard Rep. Seifert suggest he wants higher office. This is a Dem. thought. All I have ever heard him say is he likes being the State Rep from 21A. Had he wanted to be in the State Senate he could have moved up in 2000. He did not.
I am sure he would rather be Speaker than Minority Leader, but I have never heard him aspire to higher office.

Maybe instead of trying to come up with his little sound bites, Seifert should show us HIS worth? One month in and I am already tired of Marty and his mouth. Keep quiet and get to work man!!!
