MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: FRANKEN SAID IT WOULD BE A “TRAVESTY” IF “EVEN 50 PEOPLE VOTED FOR” HIM

By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 7, 2007

"'So is this a stealth campaign? It looks like a stealth campaign. There are two ways to market. One is to do the Pat Paulsen thing and announce you're running. I didn't want to do that — I don't have time. I'm doing 'Lateline' editing — I've got a real job. And I'm not consistent with the Al Franken in the book who's a depraved fool on the campaign trail.

I take campaigns seriously, and I wouldn't want to inject myself into something I think is kinda sacred. If I put myself on the ballot and even 50 people voted for me it'd be a travesty. So I wrote a book instead.'" Source: The Oregonian, February 22, 1999

On this point, I agree with Al Franken. It would be a "travesty" if "even 50 people voted for" him.

Did Mark Kennedy get 50 votes in the last election?

If so, THAT was the true travesty.

Franken says it would be a shame if 50 people voted for him?

AlF may not have anything to worry about.

If 50 people had voted for him in 1999 it probably would have been a bad thing. Then September 11th happened and Al really got interested in politics and now has a firm grip on what is wrong in the country.

Ask Al how much money is missing from the Coalition Provisional Authority and he knows it’s 8.8 billion.

Norm Coleman was all over the UN anytime he thought it missed the boat, but when it happens with the U.S. and a mere 8 or 9 billion, he’s been quiet.

50 people? That’s 5 times the number of listeners Airhead America Radio has.
