FRANKEN EVENT DRAWS LARGE CROWD IN MANKATO; MN PUBLIUS BLOGGER WORKS FOR FRANKEN’S CAMPAIGN
By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 21, 2007
I went to Mankato tonight to see Al Franken speak at Minnesota State University. The event was well attended, with around 400 people filling two large rooms [no wall divider] to listen to Franken speak for roughly 40 minutes. I left after Franken spoke, but I noticed a large crowd of people around Franken asking him questions, signing autographs and taking pictures. I'll have more comments on Franken's event tomorrow morning.
I ran into Jon-David from MN Publius at the event. He informed me that he is working for Franken's campaign doing IT work. I was in the car on the way back from when it hit me - is this the same blogger who attacked me for not disclosing I received a one-time payment from Michele Bachmann's campaign that was properly and legally disclosed on an FEC report? By golly, he was the same blogger.
I will remind my friends in the conservative and liberal blogosphere that Jon-David is under no legal obligation to disclose a professional business relationship with a campaign on his personal blog. I have written before that the ultimate responsibility lies with each individual blogger to ensure they operate their blog without an inherent conflict of interest. Jon-David is an honest guy and I'm sure he'll get around to announcing he's working for Franken's campaign.
Finally, I know I'm being much more respectful and understanding about this situation than Jon-David and the other liberal bloggers in Minnesota who attacked me. Maybe I'm tired after a long day of blogging and traveling, or maybe I'm just a nice guy.
Now that I think about it, I'm just tired.

Michael, I’ve never heard this story–do you have a link for us?
February 21st, 2007 at 10:55 pm
WHAT AN F’ING FRAUD!!!
This is the same damn kid who relentessly attacked MDE about the VERY SAME ISSUE!
JP was oh-so-indignant last year….post after frigging post.
JP, get some cajones, and stop blogging.
DOWN WITH MN PUBLIUS — one of those twerps is getting paid to blog (and didn’t disclose) and now one of them is getting PAID by FRANKEN FOR SENATE!
Wow.
February 21st, 2007 at 10:55 pm
It will be interesting to watch the Publius boys as they write their commentay as it relates to Ciresi and now Councilman Ralph.
Will they be fair, or will they be guided by Franken’s checkbook?
And will they ever disclose?

Michael–
How many times in the last 20 days has Jon-David posted on the blog, and what were those posts about?
I cant seem to access MNPublius here.
Thanks,
Sean

A link to MN Publius is provided on the right side bar. I don’t know how many times JD has posted, nor do I know what the subjects have been.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:03 am
If you take notice you’ll see that Jon-David has posted zero, that’s right, zero times since the 14th. Coincidence? No, maybe, just maybe, Jon-David has consciously stopped blogging so as to avoid a conflict of interest but couldn’t announce anything because he hadn’t been hired until today!
Thanks for calling to ask though Michael. Real stand-up of you.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:31 am
Matt: I did call you and left a message. I spoke with JD and he told me that he was working for the campaign. He didn’t say he was just hired today - in fact he said he’d been working on projects for Franken. IT related stuff. Matt, you have never called me before you posted material about me.
I spoke with JD tonight so your comments while appreciated really don’t mean much. As I wrote, JD is an honest guy.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:40 am
Matt: You exposed yourself in the comments you made on MDE. Read your comments again and let me know if you want to clarify your statements.
Again, I did call you and leave a message. I can’t make you call me. I spoke with JD, he confirmed he was working for Franken and that’s all I needed. The story is about him…
Was this statement you wrote on your blog based on information from JD:
“By the way, how hot is his site!? This is not meant to be a political statement, just a comment on beautiful web-design, but wow.”
According to JD, he’s doing IT work for Franken. Did you know then he would be working/or was working for Franken?
When did you find out he was working for Franken? Think about your answer Matt and remember, you started this game.
February 22nd, 2007 at 8:28 am
Michael,
Get off your high horse. John-David and Matt never hid behind the mask of anonymous smear blogging like you did until you were forced to disclose your identity.
What payrolls were you on while anonymous? I know you were being paid to smear Chris Coleman during that time. Who else?
February 22nd, 2007 at 8:37 am
I wouldn’t get into a pissing match with Matt. You should be glad that Franken, or Alan Barr, picked up such a dim wit. They will soon see that there is not much substance or intelligence behind the young gun pseudo exterior. I have met him at some young, fun political events, and he can’t even complete a grammatically complete sentence, he bumbles, and is quite awkward when talking with the opposite sex. Poor thing.
I compare JD to Eva, they have their set agenda and think they make such a difference, and in reality hurt their cause more than help.
February 22nd, 2007 at 8:41 am
And isn’t part of the responsibility of ethical blogging to ask questions like “How long have you been working for Franken?” and “Will you keep blogging as well?”
Michael, as per his usual, got a half-truth and ran with it.
I would like to say I am surprised….
February 22nd, 2007 at 8:44 am
Silly liberals…..
The same guy who relentlessly attacked Michael for receiving a one-time payment from Bachmann is a FULL TIME STAFF MEMBER for Al “I hate gays” Franken!
Does IT work mean he’s doing network administration or does that include blogging on behalf of Franken too?
Why didn’t Mr. Martin disclose this cozy relationship between his blog and Franken before he appeared on Almanac last week?
The gals over an MN Publius are quickly fading into obscurity.
February 22nd, 2007 at 8:47 am
I think Matt is just mad at you because you scooped him yesterday on that city councilman story.
The guys that run MN Publius like to think they are your equivalent on the other side of the aisle. When the fact is, you are in a different league all together.

‘A link to MN Publius is provided on the right side bar. I don’t know how many times JD has posted, nor do I know what the subjects have been.’
–Mike B Brodkorb
Because the facts don’t really matter when you get to play drama queen.
The truth is, the facts are (since we know what a premium you place on truth and facts) is that JonDavid has posted twice since February 1st.
http://www.mnpublius.com/2007/02/01/mndaily-listserv-sparks-debate/
A post with no judgement to it, just a link to a Daily article about the HHH School flap.
and
http://www.mnpublius.com/2007/02/10/melendezcassutt-unanimously-re-electedso-say-we-all/
A post about Brian Melendez and the rest of the DFL officers re-election.
But why let the truth and facts get in the way when you can get all teary-eyed and whimper.
Awwww you poor little puppy.

Meredith, it’s pretty obvious that you haven’t, in fact, ever met Jon-David. But how brave of you to come on a GOP attack blog and insult a true patriot like Jon-David while hiding behind an anonymous comment. Wait to go, that takes a lot of character to pull off!
February 22nd, 2007 at 9:53 am
What makes Jon-David a patriot?
The hyphen?
February 22nd, 2007 at 10:22 am
If J-D hadn’t quit blogging, Mike, I’d actually be right there with you. It’s wrong to work for a campaign and blog at the same time if you’re not disclosing it–and certainly, anything you write while on a campaign’s payroll must be met with a jaundiced eye.
The fact that J-D quit blogging, though, when he went to work for Franken is…how can I put this…absolutely the right thing to do. And the fact that you are trying to take a shot at him because he did what you wouldn’t is just further evidence of your moral bankruptcy.
February 22nd, 2007 at 10:44 am
Jeff: JD hasn’t quit blogging and Matt is blogging about Franken’s campaign.
February 22nd, 2007 at 10:52 am
MNPubic gets nailed as yet another silent, paid partner of some moonbat candidate and BAM…Feckless Jeff, anti-American Soros Sock Puppet comes to the rescue.
Pfft….now we KNOW there is collusion.
Why do Democrats have such a hard time disclosing their puppet masters? Is JD ashamed to be have it known publicly that he is bought and paid for by angry Al Franken?
He should be.
Is he ashamed to know that some of the money Al paid him to shill may well have come from the bank account meant for disadvantaged kids and elderly (Gloria Wise)?
I can’t blame him for that.
It should be said that he didn’t have to take that blood money in the first place, but that would ignore the fact that living off the labor of others is a central part of any lefty’s epigeal life.
February 22nd, 2007 at 11:17 am
Sweet bouncing baby Budda, Matt is a Soros Sock Puppet too!
“Disclaimers
General: This site is not owned, operated, or funded by any party or candidate.”
Well we know that is bullshit don’t we?
“New Journalist Program: Matt Martin (and only Matt Martin; Jon-David is not a participant) is a participant in the Center for Independent Media New Journalism Pilot Program.”
So JD pockets the Angry Al cash and Matt takes his from George Soros, Inc.
Now THAT is what I call an “independant” source of unbiased information…if you’re a brainless moonbat.
Pfft.
Honestly, these guys are real pieces of work.
February 22nd, 2007 at 11:36 am
I have met JD and Meredith is not far off the mark with him. I have yet to meet Matt but I have certiantly heard about him and his super sized ego. JD reminds me of the classic keyboard worrior as he can write a mean post but when you speak with him and question him he becomes flustered very easy and alomst makes you not want to continue the argument as you start to feel bad for the guy. Nice enough kid but just does not get it at all. I would guess when he grows up much of the mush some liberal put in his head will start to change and he will be a reasonable guy.
February 22nd, 2007 at 11:39 am
I’m strictly volunteer in all matters political.
How about the rest of you?
Anyone else here employed specifically to post on this or other sites?
Any state, county or municipal workers want to disclose?
Transperancy is a good thing.
February 22nd, 2007 at 11:41 am
Out of the 9 posts on Pubic’s opening page, 4 of them are about Angry Al Franken…oh, and one of THOSE has been updated 4 times.
Since we know that the Heckle & Jeckle tag team that produce that site cannot be counted on to be truthful about WHO is PAYING THEM for their services, how are we to know WHO posted WHAT or WHEN?
Let’s see…a guy takes a check from a candidate and suddenly that candidate gets 60% of the guy’s website space.
Who do you morons think you’re kidding?
======================
BTW Matt, was the “Name the Presidential assassination attempts” call in contest you hosted on Air Scamerica MN to celebrate President’s Day Angry Al’s idea, or did you come up with that jewel all on your own?
It really seems like something Al might have come up with…who knows, maybe Al believes that Abraham Lincoln was homosexual.
Never mind, we couldn’t believe you if you answered.
February 22nd, 2007 at 12:18 pm
Nice work as always Swiftee!
Nice work MDE!
Wow.
Drew, I’m not under contract or benefiting in any way by any blog effort. I also run http://www.trollsexposed.com, not affiliated with MDE, and other blogs.
Everyone, email me the handles of internet trolls you’d like exposed to jd@tcinternet.net. I’ll do my best. Write ‘troll’ somewhere in the subject.
Thanks,
Jamie Delton

I have no political association other than being a frequent donor to various Republican candidates.
I was asked to run the website for a state-wide candidate, but I declined because I didn’t think I could do a very good job.

[...] I should add that I spoke with Matt Martin this morning and he confirmed, contrary to his comments on my blog, that I did call him last evening before I wrote my post. posted by Michael B. Brodkorb at 1:32 pm [...]
February 22nd, 2007 at 2:32 pm
By the way Matty, I met JD many times. I met him at MPR on election night, at the DFL convention and Party in Rochester, and other political events.
Tell him he needs to wash his hair. 20 something girls love politicians with great hair like JFK, Pawlenty, and John Edwards. And he doesn’t have anything to back up his pseudo cockiness, and I mean that in every way.
February 22nd, 2007 at 7:33 pm
JP is like that f’ing kook, Triple A-hole….both are tough guys behind the keyboard but hairpies in public!
