“NONPARTISAN” SECRETARY OF STATE RITCHIE SPEAKS AT EVENT HOSTED BY LEFTIST ORGANIZATION
By Michael B. Brodkorb | February 21, 2007
Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, who promised to be “nonpartisan“, attended a forum hosted by the leftist organization People For the American Way[PFAW].
Speaking at a PFWA event is not a way for Ritchie to earn the trust of Republicans.
A side project of PFWA is “Right Wing Watch Online”:
“A major, ongoing project of the PFAW website is called ‘Right Wing Watch Online,’ which keeps a watchful, critical eye on the organization’s political opponents. The PFAW research department daily compiles headlines concerning ‘right-wing groups and their views on the issues of the day.’ By the estimation of PFAW, Right Wing Watch keeps tabs on over 800 groups and 300 individuals, all of whom seek to promote ‘regressive policies that seek to drive wedges between and among Americans.’
PFAW was instrumental in assembling the coalition of radical front groups and antiwar activists that operates under the banner United For Peace and Justice (UFPJ). In October 2002, PFAW convened a meeting in its offices from which that coalition would emerge. The idea was to portray the radical agendas of UFPJ as more moderate than those of International ANSWER. Leslie Cagan, a veteran of the Communist Party USA with longstanding sympathies for Cuba’s Marxist dictatorship, was tapped to lead UFPJ.” Source: Discover the Network

So, if he can’t talk to democrats, how do you propose he remain non-partisan?

No surprise with this we knew he was a political hack before he won.
The positive side of it is he will only get one term as he will prove himself a fool long before the next election.

Fred your answers here are border line just plain stupid! Obviously you are a student somewhere who gets a few extra bucks coming to conservative blogs and try to swing things so your liberal base does not look like the fools they are.
I wish I could just cuff you upside the head for each stupid response you give but then my hand would get sore.

As an election judge myself, I don’t care for some of Richie’s proposals. I don’t think he honestly believed he would win against Kiffmeyer and that he now has to scramble for ideas. So far, the driver’s license = voter registration is the most egregious. Just like counterfeit money devalues legitimate money, fraudulent voting devalues legitimate votes. You don’t have to be partisan to see that Richie’s ‘drivers license’ proposal leaves open the possibility of massive disenfranchisement – unless all you care about is winning elections. But, if you care about your vote regardless of which side your on, this proposal should make the case for you. It’s bad policy. Period. I’ve called his office to voice my concern as an election judge and a citizen.

Didn’t think he could win? I’ve got it on good authority he couldn’t conceive of how he’d lose! Which was good honest confidence the way things turned out…

Fair enough. The bottom line, though, is Richie won. So far, he’s had at least one really bad idea and shrouded himself in partisanship. Pile on all you want on Kiffmeyer, but Richie has gone way beyond the sacrosanct non-partisan ethos that is the hallmark of the office in just over a month.
Of course, if the extent of your political motivation is just winning elections, then it shouldn’t matter to you what Richie does – right or wrong.
