Here's a DFL liberal who isn't a coward. If the email from Jason was real, I didn't get it.

I believe in the freedom of speech and the free interchange of ideas and opinions.

I don't see MDE as any kind of dire threat. If the emperor has no clothes, it shouldn't be a problem to say so... whether the emperor is Republican or Democrat.

Now most of the spin coming out of MDE is completely bogus, but some of the residents argue well, and provide insight into the Republican / conservative mindset. I consider that valuable...

Imagine... understanding the other side, and perhaps finding common ground.

"I don’t think this person gets it. MN Publius tends to get Republican leaks (look how the Gaither challenge to Ramstad is being discussed there) - and MDE gets democratic leaks. There’s good reasons for that. "

I agree with you Eva. This is a good thing indeed.

Kyle-

It may have come from pseudo-leftist impulse to strengthen the nanny-state (that many self-labelled conservatives also have - on social issues) but Hatch was anti-free speech on the video game issue, for one, and far short of what is required where the nanny-state might save money for individuals and employers alike with single-payer universal health care...

There was a far better candidate within the DFL in the primary, and in the general election, Hutchinson was the best candidate. He did a great job in the debates that were held.

Anyway, I don't smoke, so I am clearly not stoned... I will admit to being stubborn about my principles, though...

ImpeccableLiberalCredentials, you clearly are stoned if you think Hatch is a centrist on any level. ... well, maybe next to Che Guevara or Joseph Stalin, he's centrist. But by any modern definition, he's a left wing dingbat.

Man you're of the ledge.

Matt-

I think that hewing always towards some artificial center is not pragmatic, but it has been marketed that way.

I would argue that Klobuchar did not win because of her centrist positions, or market tested opinions, but because Ford Bell failed to campaign effectively, as did Cavlan or Kennedy or anyone else on the ballot in November.

If centrism was a sure bet, Hatch also would have one by a similar margin, but he simply did not campaign as hard, or build a real campaign organization like Klobuchar did.

Organization can be be pragmatic. Ideology can be truly based in sincere belief, or it can be cooked up to suit a "professional" opinion of what the public palate will be receptive to... and that can be very wrong.

I sure hope that was not Matt from Publis as they are very far from center of the party! Maybe if we were only polling people in the most liberal parts of Minneapolis they might look center.

I also believe their numbers are higher as I know many people find MDE by pure disgust of what they find on Publis. ;)

Master of None, see above post for your reference of how to get the liberals upset and get yourself entered on Fred's list. :)

Next I guess we could start to discuss what a total fraud Mee Mua is and how she not only should have been fired but arrested for trying to help others commit voter fraud! :)

Maybe we can go to the next flunky Mr. Rybak? Oh wait I think even liberals now have left that one out in the wind.

It truly is just a matter of time before a generation comes to realize how bad liberalism is and we get rid of it once and for all. How many more years can they create the fears they do to try and keep people in line. Global warming, species endangerment, polluted waters, harm to children, the list goes on. Funny how the left claims it is the right that plays to the fears of people yet every example I find is a liberal trying to frighten someone to thinking as they do.
Liberals truly disgust me and unfortunately ignorance is bliss and they do not even realize how bad their policies are.
"Dumbass" is all that comes to mind. ;)

A few things:
1) Soren is right, we're pretty centrist (or maybe more appropriately: pragmatists) over at Publius. We're clearly DFLers, but we are very much towards the moderate side of our party.
2) These traffic numbers are <i>way</i> off. Double our 6,000 and then add some and you have a <i>bad</i> week for us.

Blaa, Blaa, blaa...

Wellstone was a hack and every one of you liberals know it!!

Wellstone voted against the war because he knew we would have the results we do now?? I do not think so. What he did was vote no to ANY war!! Hell he would have let Europe fall because he believed nothing was ever won with war. He followers know I am right about this! Then again just to show what a fraud Wellstone was, notice how quite he was when Clinton bombed Iraq?? Once again proving Wellstone was just another hypocrite but managed to get many liberals to believe he was talking "from the heart". ;)

Something Paul Wellstone practiced much during his life…”Never separate the lives you live from the words you speak.”

Let's see:

Speak of global warming and pollution yet drive around in a green old pollution spewing bus or get hauled around in very large gas guzzling SUV's or fly on private jets. Yep, this is a man of his words alright. ;)

The list goes on and on with Wellstone! He was one giant fraud who the liberal media propped up to be something other than what he truly was. I believe the man to be a bigger liar than Ellison!!

Just would have been a lot of fun to watch him and his followers cry like babies when he was well on his way to losing is 2002!! Claim he was winning all you want libs, but the fact was after he broke his 2 term promise many moderate democRats were not going to vote for him.

Hey, breaking that promise would be yet another example of Something Paul Wellstone practiced much during his life…”Never separate the lives you live from the words you speak.” HAHAHA!! "Something Paul Wellstone practiced much during his life…”Never separate the lives you live from the words you speak.”  Something Paul Wellstone practiced much during his life…”Never separate the lives you live from the words you speak.” :)

Like I say there is so much dirt to be seen on Wellstone that if you were to view it all at once you would wonder how he stayed out of jail!

A WWII classic for the Liberal Progressive Demcrats to ponder. Enjoy!

During the Second World War C. J. Auchinleck, Commander-in-Chief of the Middle East Force, wrote the following order, to all commanders and chiefs-of-staff under his authority:

"There exists a real danger that our friend Rommel is becoming a king or magician or bogey-man to our troops, who are talking far too much about him. He is by no means a superman, although he is undoubtedly very energetic and able. Even if he were a superman, it would still be highly undesirable that our men should credit him with supernatural powers.

"I wish you to dispel by all possible means the idea that Rommel represents something more than the ordinary. The more important thing now is to see that we do not always talk of Rommel when we mean the enemy in Libya. We must refer to "the Germans" or "the Axis powers" or "the enemy" and not always be harping.

"Please ensure that this order is put into immediate effect, and impress upon all commanders that, from a psychological point of view, it is a matter of the highest importance.”

Big Kahuna!! Paul Wellstone was one of the few Senators who voted against giving Bush power to stage a pre-emptive war against Iraq. The mess it has become proved his vote was the right one. He spoke of the mess that would ensue on the Senate floor should a war take place. Was he wrong??

Something Paul Wellstone practiced much during his life..."Never seperate the lives you live from the words you speak." Paul Wellstone spoke from the heart passionately about issues, not in anger or hate towards others.

Thus if the words spoken here reflect the lives being lived, then we're all a sorry lot.

Now talk amongst yourselves.

If his attacks are coming from his blog, then find a friendly progressive blogger out there to talk to and let your side out through.

~ Thus we have Fred, John Boy, Roving (AKA Fred), San and I am sure some others I have missed. ;)

Like we did not know you were paid to come here and post your drivel, liberals do little for free. ;)

bomb tossers like Chris, Kyle and Big Kahuna”

I’m kind of ticked I didn’t make Fred’s list. Guess I need to work on my wicked bomb tossing skills.

Master you just need to work on your Wellstone bashing skills and you will be on the list! :)
Should be easy as Wellstone was by far the most worthless waste of skin ever sent to any political position!! Name me one of his favorite issues and I will show you how he was a total hypocrit on the same issue. Ellison is a puke and a crook but still has not shown to be as bad as Wellstone!
See how easy that is Master. :)

I was right... MinnesotaMonitor, the site listed as the most popular, has half (approx 550) of MDEs average visitors. MN Campaign report has 332 on average, but that's not "unique visitors". MN Pubis doesn't have a traffic counter available to see, so my guess is it's numbers are lower than estimated in the DFL email.

According to this site's traffic statistics, MDE is getting, on average, 1170 visitors per day, on average. At a minimum, that's 8190 page views per week. However, since so many visitors visit often, click through to many pages and comment... I'd have to guess MDE's page views come in around 50,000 per week.

Michael would have the best sense though...

In all honesty, however, "page views" are an extremely meaningless statistic as a means of traffic measurement/site popularity... that's why the DFL hack used it.

But using my math backward on the sites listed, each has, at best, a few hundred visitors each week. So, I also recommend Democrats post their messages exclusively on those sites. That way, nobody will see them.

Ken,

That may be true but as soon as the DFL Central Committee told the DFL rank and file that they couldn't post comments on MDE, Fred Garvin was the first to stop posting here and leave.

I would also be curious about MDE's page views. I'm dubious of the claims that MN Campaign Report and MN Publius get 6000 page views each. If those numbers are correct, I would suspect that MDE gets at least twice as many page views as those the "DFL approved" propaganda blogs.

If you haven't figured it out by now the DFL Central Committee represents real Democrats about as well as Alan Quist represents the Republicans.

I don't think this person gets it. MN Publius tends to get Republican leaks (look how the Gaither challenge to Ramstad is being discussed there) - and MDE gets democratic leaks. There's good reasons for that.

Michael,
I believe your dates of employment with the Republican Party are wrong - should be 2006 not 2007.
"I was a part-time consultant to the Republican Party of Minnesota from October 30, 2007 to November 7, 2007.

Odd. The timing of this is odd, but I was reaching out to you on a non-partisan basis, about a non-partisan project, which requires some insight into the MN-GOP caucus and convention process... I have reached out to Greens and Independence Party people in the same way, and will have to continue to do so.

Also, I am just a volunteer on this project. I would probably have to bring a more responsible party, a paid staff person at that organization along with on the radio...

I think most DFL State Central Committee members should know by know that I resigned my official DFL party officer postions (Precinct Chair, Delegate to the Affirmative Action committee) out of frustration with the State DFL party's inabililty to defend its own process, by-laws, etc. after the Beltrami Co. delegate dispute, the primary, and making a decision to support Peter Hutchinson, who was maybe a better Democrat and definately a better Minnesotan on the issues than the muddled-centrist party offering for Governor.

Amy Klobuchar's campaign, in the person of Jake Spano, refused any responsibility to do party building, and the party itself refused to take responsibility to correct deviatuions from the Call and the Constitution & Bylaws so the alternative is non-profit, non-partisan, and maybe some traditional DFL constituencies need to at least consider a multi-prong approach, e.g. running candidates from their communities in multiple, simultaneous party endorsement battles. To be truly non-profit & non-partisan, I think you have to be willing to cross party boundaries, and honestly I have very little knowledge of the MN-GOP process and I have to correct that, or find expert opinion to tap.

The risk for the DFL of course is maybe losing some progressives to the GOP, the IP, or the Greens, but there are probably very few trueprogressives on the DFL State Central Committee, so I find the e-mail's language odd, and MN Publius bloggers will admit they are centrists, not liberals or progressives.

Hopefully, there won't be too much bad blood with DFLers when they understand all of this, I will eventually be back, but I am not afraid to face criticism, to the extent that some of the truly guilty parties in the original incidents I am seekling redress for, are.

So, are we going to do this radio thing?

"If a story needs to get out there, there are plenty of high-traffic progressive blogs that should be used for any Democratic talking points"

Holy Crap! I didn't catch that on my first reading. I guess that does blow a huge hole in that "Center for Independent Media" bull shit.

I have noticed how many threads on this blog are mostly about "Angry" Al.

The jury is still out about him as a Senate candidate as far as I am concerned. It is still too early yet in the Senate race. Whoever is the DFL endorsed candidate in 2008, I will more than likely support.

If it's MDE what's tomorrow? Jason Lewis' show?
Will we only be allowed to debate on Air America?
Minnesota Public Radio?

If their ideas are so superior which is their theory for winning last year's election they shouldn't be afaid to debate.

The only explanation is that they're afraid people will wake up. How many state lawmakers are currently holding seats that should be Republican seats. If they're confronted how silly their party behaves they might start behaving on some critical votes like real tax cuts in fear of being voted out of office in 2008 despite Hillary or a great Democrat on the top of the ticket.

This site once was populated by people who could argue rationally and coherently with people who shared differing opinions. But a lot of those people have been chased off and been replaced by bomb tossers like Chris, Kyle and Big Kahuna who are more interested in volume than in discourse. And so as more and more rational voices leave, it will become an even more deafening echo chamber where Michael will spend his days calling Al Franken angry and even his loyal followers will tire of having to tell him how cool he is for thinking that.

I encourage the few remaining lefties to join me in typing the following three letters.

Chris: You are correct...I think the bloggers behind the blogs mentioned in the email might not appreciate that designation.

What's so funny is the writer is admitting that the blogs of MN Campaign Report and MN Publius are just propaganda arms of the left. If MDE doesn't have any credibility, why does it keep getting mentions in the Star Tribune?

Not just cowards. They are also either liars or too incompetent to research their claims (e.g. the claim that Michael is "a paid operative of the MN Republican party"). Furthermore, they are hypocrites, too, as they're actually the ones that have "no interest in listening or debating issues," and if Michael or anyone else had said that they "should never be responded to directly" by our side, they'd be beside themselves with outrage.

Shows again that liberals are absolute cowards. Why engage in debate or dialog, when you can hop on and talk exclusively to the unhinged echo-chamber?
