FRANKEN CLAIMS REPUBLICANS ARE FRABRICATING HIS PAST COMMENTS; I SAY PROVE IT!
By Michael B. Brodkorb | March 8, 2007
"Attempts at twisting his lines — fabricating them, he charged — by state Republicans has both been ineffectual and funny, Franken said." Source: Forest Lake Times, March 7, 2007
###
Fabricating them? Franken's past comments are bad enough – nobody needs to take them out of context or frabricate them to score political points.
But to humor Franken and his campaign, I'm looking for specfic examples of Minnesota Republicans fabricating a Franken quote or taking a Franken out of context. Fabricating a quote or line is a very serious charge. But if Minnesota Republicans are doing it, then it should be easy to prove.
Please post a specific example as a comment.

Does anyone have any polling data out on this race? Either internal DFL polling or candidates vs. Coleman?
From my seat it looks all the world like the real DFL candidates are waiting for Franken to implode, have his past catch up with him, or to get bored. So I’m curious if there is polling data out there to back up the hunch or to show me something else.
Anyone?

Maybe someone fabricated that they believe Franken was ever funny.

Michael, you fabricated a Rukavina quote just last week:
http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2007/03/01/star-tribune-dfl-legislator-admits-he-wasnt-serious-when-he-introduced-bill-doesnt-respond-to-request-for-comments/#comments
Your heading:
“HE WASN’T SERIOUS WHEN HE INTRODUCED BILLâ€
The article notes Rukavina admits “he isn’t serious about moving the bill forward”
Those are two different statements. In the article Rukavina did not make the statement that you accuse him of in the title. This is what we call a fabrication.
March 8th, 2007 at 12:42 PM
I never quoted Rukavina in the post, but I’ll look at the story and review the post. Rukavina introduced a bill and later admitted that he wasn’t serious about moving the bill forward. Therefore, he wasn’t serious about the bill. I used a Star Tribune story and Rukavina was refusing to talk to the Strib – I never quoted Rukavina in this post.
March 8th, 2007 at 3:53 PM
You removed the quote marks from the headline of the post and that was the right thing to do as the quote didn’t match what he had said.

I never quoted Rukavina. How about Franken? Found anything yet?
March 8th, 2007 at 6:21 PM
As I posted earlier, you posted a photo taken before Saturday’s Franken event and implied that it showed the crowd gathered to see Franken which proved crowd estimates to be inflated.

If you never quoted Rukavina, then why were there quotes in the title of your blog entry? And why did they disappear after my post?
Is any of the following a quote:
RUKAVINA CLAIMS HE DIDN’T KNOW FRIEND HE HELPED BY INTRODUCING BILL HE “NEVER INTENDED TO MOVE FORWARD†HAD BEEN CONVICTED OF COCAINE DISTRIBUTION
You’re either quoting or you are not and if you’re not quoting then your titles should have quotes.
March 8th, 2007 at 10:14 PM
I wasn’t quoting Rukavina, but I’ve edited the post. Thanks for the watchful eye.
March 8th, 2007 at 10:31 PM
If you’re not quoting then your titles should not have quotes is what that should have read.

huh?

How is your title not a fabrication:
FRANKEN LASHES OUT, FALSELY ACCUSES GOP OF FABRICATING LINES
http://www.minnesotademocratsexposed.com/2007/03/06/franken-lashes-out-falsely-accuses-gop-of-fabricating-lines/
lash 1 (lsh) n.
1.
a. A stroke or blow with or as if with a whip.
b. A whip.
c. The flexible portion of a whip, such as a plait or thong.
2. Punishment administered with a whip.
3.
a. A lacerating presence or power: the lash of conscience.
b. A caustic verbal attack.
4. An eyelash.
The part you quoted:
“Attempts at twisting his lines — fabricating them, he charged — by state Republicans has both been ineffectual and funny, opined Franken.”
Michael, what part of that statement is ‘lash’ing out? He is being quoted making a statement.
If you wanted to question his comment about ‘fabricating’ that’s fine, but just because you question his comment doesn’t mean that he is lashing out.

Comment # 10 refers to #8 where I left the word ‘not’ out in the last paragraph

Christine – Did you learn how to parse words from the Clintons? Al Franken is a lying liar, just like the title of his book.
March 9th, 2007 at 12:20 PM
Christine,
Your ability to defend anything Franken says never ceases to amaze me. Al Franken is a lying liar and just because he was nominated for a couple of Emmy Awards (he never won) and had some best selling books doesn’t make him qualified to be U.S. Senator despite what you think.

Christine makes Sean seem somewhat less anal. Are you two siblings?

[...] What’s more, they’re actually so arrogant that they issued an open challenge for someone to prove that they fabricated charges against Franken! Well guys, I guess you can put this one up on the big board (I’ve got a few more for you, but we’ll save those for later). I guess the real question is how much egg can Ron Carey get on his face before he apologizes? We’ll just have to wait and see… [...]

Once again, MN Publius is full of hot air. Hartford State Community College was founded in 1947 and merged with the Greater Hartford Community College in 1992. After the merger, the college was re-named Capital-Community Technical College.

See, I can Google too! Now, MN Publius, who has egg on their face?
March 9th, 2007 at 4:22 PM
There is also a transcript with Tim Russert talking about the story of Franken insulting the graduates. Here is the link for that:

Where’s Fred?? He likes to point out who has credibility and who does not so I would assume he is ready to ask MN Publis not to post here anymore as clearly they have zero credibility left and it has become quite obvious that their have hit bottom with their writing skills. It is pretty much false statements or cut and paste work. Their liberal professors must be proud.

Chris can’t even tell the truth when calling Al a liar:
Al Franken is a lying liar and just because he was nominated for a couple of Emmy Awards (he never won)
Nominated for 7, won 4:
Franken, who won four Emmy awards for his work on “Saturday Night Live,” is the author of four previous books
