LIVE-BLOGGING CONGRESSMAN KLINE’S TOWN HALL MEETING
By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 3, 2007
8:57 p.m.: The town hall meeting is ending as the last question was just asked. Congressman Kline did a wonderful job of fielding questions and listening to his constituents. Tonight was an example of how democracy works. Kline hit a grand slam! I'll have more comments and pictures posted later tonight.
8:22 p.m.: Robin Marty over at Minnesota Monitor is complaining that I am live-blogging at Congressman Kline's town hall meeting. I have a copy of the rules and there nothing that prohibits blogging. I am sitting in the last row with my laptop and I accessing the web via my Verizon Wireless card. Again, no rules violations, no favoritism. Hey Robin, I can send you and Fecke directions to a Verizon Wireless store where you can buy a wireless card. BTW: As noted on my disclosure page, I am the former chair of the SD 38 GOP. I had previously said I would serve one-term and a new chairman was elected on March 24. But once again, why would Minnesota Monitor be concerned with facts?
8:07 p.m.: Kline is fielding questions, walking back and forth across the stage.
7:59 p.m.: Some made a comment that Coleen Rowley had a campaign event with Congressman John Murtha and people were not allowed to ask questions. Kline stands up in front of a crowded auditorium and answer questions, Rowley refuses to take question. One is a member of Congress, another is a disgruntled candidate for Congress.
7:55 p.m.: We're now on to questions.
7:48 p.m.: A Gold Star mom just stood up and gave an amazing speech about her son. After she was done speaking, the vast majority of the audience stood up and applauded her bravery. But a large number of the protesters refused to stand or clap.
7:33 p.m.: Some woman just stood up and complained about the format of the meeting. I think it's great that Kline is allowing other people to speak and voice their questions or concerns.
7:30 p.m.: Congressman Kline is doing a great job of listening to the comments and questions. What a great statesman.
7:23 p.m.: Joe Tucci is live-blogging Kline's meeting over at Kool Aid Report.
7:19 p.m.: The first section of the town hall meeting is for people to make comments.
7:11 p.m.: First question comment is on No Child Left Behind.
7:01 p.m.: Congressman Kline has walked on stage to begin the town hall meeting.
6:15 p.m.: I am at Lakeville South High School waiting for the start of Congressman John Kline's town hall meeting. There is a large crowd of protesters outside the entrance to the school, some of which are hurling insults at people walking in to the school who refuse to take their literature. Classy.

Why are you allowed to live blog but other bloggers are not? Classy.

I have a copy of the rules…there is nothing that prevents live blogging.

That MiniMoni crew is dense. Is that website some kind of special ed. program? It would explain a lot.

Why are you allowed to live blog but other bloggers are not?
Why is this citizen so “concerned” about restricting MDE’s free speech?

[...] Ok that’s a summary of the highlights….to read some of the live blogging that went on (because there were no restrictions on it), feel free to check them out. For the PG-13 version, try MDE. For the R-rated version (it would have been X, but I convinced Tucci to keep his pants on), check out KAR. Also got to finally meet Joe Repya, good guy, very personable, but didn’t get much time to talk as he wanted to seek out the Gold Star Mother before she left and get a chance to talk to her. Um … Michael, you went out Lakeville High School to blog about the meeting. But you wrote nothing about what the Congressman said about any issue. You cracked on Colleen Rowley, made fun of a miscommunication about internet access, and called Kline a statesman. What did he say?

Did you or anyone here catch the name of the Iraqi gentleman who spoke at the end of the Question session last night at the Kline Town Hall meeting?
I can’t recall what the moonbats reaction was to him, but I am sure it made them uncomfortable since it didn’t fit their script, talking points, and marching orders from the local chapter of moveon.org.
I was blown away by that Iraqi guy and his words!
I also loved Joe Repya’s comments last night!
Feel free to email me at I2bjacob@earthlink.net with the answers to my questions above…
