FACT CHECK ON STAR TRIBUNE’S STORY ON COLEMAN’S POLL NUMBERS
By Michael B. Brodkorb | April 25, 2007
This is from today's Star Tribune:
"Polling data show that the approval ratings for Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., dropped in March. Coleman's approval rating has declined each month this year while Sen. Amy Klobuchar's numbers have remained somewhat steady.
According to Survey USA, Coleman started the 110th Congress with an approval rating of 55 percent. In February, he dropped to 49 percent and in March to 47 percent." Source: Star Tribune, April 24, 2007

The reality is Senator Coleman's approval number for April went up to 53% and his disapproval number went down to 41%. The statement from today's Star Tribune that "Coleman's approval rating has declined each month this year…" is dead wrong. I'm not sure why the Star Tribune reported on the March poll numbers when the April poll numbers (which show higher approval ratings) were available from Survey USA. But I do know this isn't some big "left-wing media" conspiracy. Reporters are human and mistakes happen.

They wouldn’t be trying to downplay Norm’s popularity because of their giddy support for Angry Al would they?
How is it that Franken can tell a pork chop joke about a Muslim and not get summarily decapitated by the left? (figuratively, of course)

Michael’s right, Brady Averill didn’t do this because she is a liberal (which she admittedly is) she did this because the Star Tribune’s new publishing company is too cheap to keep D.C. reporters who know their a-hole from a hole in the ground (i.e. Diaz, Smith).

Since when is the Star-Tribune ever known to be accurate?
BTW the Red Star has been shut-out from the Pulitzer for the last 17 years. This is a great example of the poor journalism coming from this sorry excuse of a tabloid

Check again, they’ve changed the article. Very interesting….
“WASHINGTON – Although Minnesota’s senators saw their approval ratings drop in March, they both enjoyed a boost in April.
According to Survey USA, Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., jumped 6 percentage points from March to April – from 47 percent to an approval rating of 53 percent.”

Anyone who believes this blog does not make a difference is sadly mistaken.
Don’t you wonder how many reporters, editors, and the like read this as well?
Nice job MDE.
