WELCOME TO THE NEW MINNESOTA DEMOCRATS EXPOSED

By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 7, 2007

As I have promised for the last week, this is the new look of Minnesota Democrats Exposed.

The genius behind the logo and layout design was Derek Brigham and the mechanics was Brian Mason.  Both of these gentlemen are at the top of their craft and they couldn't have done a better job. The reaction to the new design so far is universal: everybody loves it.

Working with professionals like Derek and Brian over the last few days to design the new Minnesota Democrats Exposed has increased my passion about blogging. If you're a Minnesota Democrat who gets exposed in the new few days – blame Derek or Brian (jk).

Again, the compliments go to Derek and Brian for a job well-done. They deserve it.

New features and additional graphics will be added in the weeks to come so please come back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed.

It’s nice to have permalinks back.

Derek, Brian and Michael make a formidable team. Congrats on the new look — go get ‘em, Michael!

    It’s a huge improvement! Congrats!

I think it looks great, with one exception… the banner at the top of the page takes up too much real estate…. that was something of a complaint from the old site design as well. With the center column so narrow, your longer posts will push everything way below the fold, which isn’t the most reader friendly thing…

Otherwise, the new site really pops! Congrats, and nice work!

I do like it. The only odd thing is from the computer I am using at this moment it pushes all the post to the bottom just past the left sidebar. The one I used last night did not. Maybe it is the older version of IE I am currently using or maybe a setting somewhere.

Looks like people with IE 6 and 1024 resolution are having problems. Please list your browser and resolution here so we can help clear up any issues with older machines.

    Thanks!

I’m having the same problem as Sipidation, with the first post pushed way down to the end of the left sidebar. I prefer and use IE6 and 1024.

I see the same problem (first post starts below the left sidebar). I am using IE6 but am at 1280×1024. Only happens on the front/home page. Individual post pages look fine.

Problem only occurs in IE. Looks fine in Firefox.

    It’s not old, it’s retro.

I’m running IE6 (because running an older version is cool) and looking at it in 1280×1024.

The new layout looks terrific, Michael. A good thing just got even better. Congratulations on the outstanding work!

    I like it.

I would turn off the mouse-over bold in the “previous article, home, next article” navigation stuff at the top of single article pages though. It looks cool, but it can change the location of links as you navigate them. This is especially noticeable in the long post titles used here.

    Easy fix Troy. Done.

Still working to resolve IE 6 issues. For those of you who can upgrade to IE 7 or FireFox 2, I recommend it for the better security and tabbed browsing. IE 6 was written over 5 years ago which in technology terms is archaic.

  15. DrJonz Says:
    May 7th, 2007 at 1:04 PM

Think it should look better now for you IE 6 users.

Your missing the goofy spam like Drudge…

I was highly skeptical. I think this is fantastic. Very good establishment of heirarchy throughout the site. Great job, guys.

Ryan: You were highly skeptical. I’m glad you like it.

Much more readable design, Michael. Congratulations. Now, about the words…

Just to make you wrong (“The reaction to the new design so far is universal: everybody loves it.”), I hate it.
