He is competing with Michele Bachmann to get on Drudge for bad reasons.

What were Paul Wellstone’s numbers versus that guy in the plaid shirt at this point in the cycle? Maybe Norm should try the “I’m more Jewish” approach.

Well, let’s see–the Rasmussen poll (closer gap) went after ‘likely voters’ while the MPR poll contacted ‘registered voters.’ There’s one clue–if Iraq continues to go poorly, there may be some ‘tweener’ Republicans who stay home on election day in 2008.

But we’re still a good 18 months away. And the MPR poll had Coleman under 50% approval…

My theory is that Franken knew about the poll numbers pre-release (MPR, after all, is a DFL affiliate) and decided, as a result, to skip Norm’s appearance on Monday. Under my theory, Franken (who is media savvy) was concerned that the press would link his appearance to the bad poll numbers, thus generating an even worse story or perhaps two days worth of negative stories.

Franken’s numbers are very Charles Rocket -like.

(Rocket was a regular on Saturday Night Live when the show was at its worst – late 1980′s perhaps.I know it’s pretty sad when I have to explain my attempt at humor…)

    JGMPLS: You’re right.
