MyDD: “IF FRANKEN’S FAVORABLES REMAIN IN NEGATIVE TERRITORY, THERE IS NO WAY HE CAN WIN THIS RACE”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | May 31, 2007

"Minnesota. Al Franken's entry into the race, along with his strong fundraising, appears to have scared off other Democrats from challenging highly vulnerable Republican incumbent Norm Coleman. However, as much as many of us might like Al, there are reasons to be worried about this. Polling has consistently shown Coleman hovering either just above or just below 50%. At the same time, it has also shown a fairly name recognition for Al Franken, who trails Coleman by 10-20%, depending on the poll. More worrisome are Franken's favorable numbers, which are actually slightly negative according to both Rasmussen and the Mason-Dixon. That is not a formula for making up ground on a right-wing Senator in a bluish state would is very beatable. If Franken's favorables remain in negative territory, there is no way he can win this race." Source: MyDD, May 29, 2007

This post also appears on Blogs for Norm!, an online community and blog covering the 2008 U.S. Senate campaign in Minnesota. The primary goal of Blogs for Norm! is to organize bloggers who support U.S. Senator Norm Coleman.

Norm…a “..right-wing Senator’?! I believe the last one we had was R/ Grams..no? Al Franken, I believe, will continue to be gift for Norm. i used to be huge Norm fan…until lately. Sure, I will vote for him, but am not that excited.

The Dems will continue to try to paint Norm as a far right candidate. It will not stick simply because Norm is a Rino and Minnesotans know it.

I wouldnt call Norm a RINO. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, definite RINO’s. Norm votes to support the war, is pro-life, will not support any pro-gay legislation regardless of how minimal it is, anti-stem cell research etc. The only RINO vote I can think of is the minimum wage increase. I believe he is more moderate when it comes to the environment.

But a RINO, meh. I believe that is a slight stretch to his moderacy. I’d put him inbetween a RINO and a solid conservative .

Andrew..you forgot his very critical vote on ANWAR….

If Norm is right wing, then what is Jason Lewis?

I have posted this question here many times: Will people really vote for Franken?
    I guess I finally have my answer…No!

As for Norm, He’s somewhere between Rightwing and RINO. He will get my vote but will have to swing more right to get my time/money.

there is one way Norm can lose a lot of votes. That is if he votes for final passage of Ted Kennedy’s free amensty and Democrat vote getting bill on imigration that does nothing to protect our borders. That is Franken’s let alone any other Democrat’s hope next year.

Actually Walter, the immigration bill is sponsored by McCain and Kennedy.
