MN GOP PRESS RELEASE: FRANKEN: CUT OFF FUNDING FOR THE TROOPS
By Michael Brodkorb | June 14, 2007
"With his reckless call to cut off funding for our troops in September, Al Franken insults our brave men and women in uniform and sends a dangerous signal to our enemies. While pandering to the far-left wing may help Franken win the Democrat Party’s nomination, it is an affront to those who risk their lives for our country." – Ron Carey, Chairman of the Republican Party of Minnesota
Franken Calls For Cutting Off Funding For The Troops:
Q: "What do the Democrats do come September in the when they come back to the budget thing again-"
Franken: "I think you make the president, uh, cut off funding for the troops. I mean, I think, I think that uh-"
Q: "There’s definitely a lot of Democrats that are just not willing to bite that bullet, so to speak."
Franken: "I think by then they will be. I think they heard from their constituents, from the people who elected them in 06." (Talking Points Memo Website, June 14, 2007)

June 14, 2007 The day Al Franken disqualified himself from holding public office.
Do you suppose he is looking for a way to get out of the race? Are his poll numbers that bad? I can’t imagine a guy that intelligent saying something that stupid on the air. It just doesn’t make sense.

This is a surprise? All liberals want to surrender to the Islamists. This is nothing new.
But then either Al is incredibly stupid, or he’s playing the usual liberal game of exploiting the ignorance and laziness of Democrat voters.
Doesn’t he know that it’s the Congress that funds the troops, not the President?
On the other hand, if he’s arguing that Congress should cut off funding, well at least he’s advocating within Congress’ Constitutional power. That’s the only power they have with regard to war and war making.
If that’s his purpose, hell it may also be the first time Al Franken has been honest. It may also make him the only Democrat who’s honest about what he’s trying to do.

I don’t see why any DFLer should be shocked that Franken said he would cut off funding to our troops. The DFL thinks the war in Iraq was a mistake, that it is George W. Bush’s war and that the sooner we cut off funding for the troops, the more Iraqi and American lives will be saved.
Franken might actually win his election on that promise.
June 15th, 2007 at 12:21 PM
Lets correct something, the DFL doesnt believe we need to end the war, the American people do as a whole. I am not sure if a majority believe in cutting off funding but by the time this election happens, a majority of people will be for ending the war through cutting off funding, Franken will be ahead of the game and this will only help him in the election.
You GOP’ers absolutely hate this idea but when you think about Minnesota’s constituency, Franken is taking the position he needs to be taking, and probably believes in too.
