CHECKS & BALANCES: ENTENZA’S THINK TANK WILL BE CALLED “MINNESOTA 2020″, STAR TRIBUNE REPORTER WILL BE HIRED

By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 18, 2007

"There has been a great deal of speculation on what former DFL House Minority Leader Matt Entenza has been involved in since he departed from the Attorney General’s race last September.  We have spoken with him and learned he is preparing the launch of a new non-profit, non-partisan think tank called Minnesota 2020.  The organization will focus on public policy questions with impact on the future of Minnesota forth coming decade and beyond.

One of the interesting things we learned in our discussion with Entenza was former Star Tribune reporter Conrad DeFiebre will be joining the Minnesota 2020 effort.  DeFiebre was one of the Strib employees that opted for the paper’s buy-out.  Minnesota 2020 is just starting to take shape with Entenza managing the fundraising effort.  Former House DFL Communications Specialist Glen Fladeboe is handling the press and public relations and another DFL House Caucus Communications Specialist Chris Shields handling the technology side of the effort.  We are expecting the announcement of a number of academics who will help provide research and studies to support the goals of Minnesota 2020." Conrad DeFibre going to work with a bunch of liberals at a think tank? But he worked for the Strib, I thought they were non-partisan?

I think “managing the fundraising effort” means he’s asking his wife for a bigger allowance.

    Non-partisan? My butt.

Entenza is former DFL House Minority Leader

Entenza was a DFL candidate for Attorney General last September until he got caught being naughty

Conrad DeFibrilator is an unapologetic liberal’s bleeding heart liberal.

“Former House DFL Communications Specialist Glen Fladeboe is handling the press and public relations and another DFL House Caucus Communications Specialist Chris Shields handling the technology side of the effort.

They must be counting on the academics to balance out this clearly paretisan front operation for a liberal PAC.

Does anyone find it odd that a group of “former” somethings is organizing a think tank to focus on the future of Minnesota?

If these people were any good at what they do, they wouldn’t be “formers”, would they?

    “Former” Minority Leader.
    “Former” Star and Trib reporter.
    “Former” House DFL Communications Specialist”
