MDE EXCLUSIVE: WEB PAGE LISTS FORMER U.S. SENATOR AND POTENTIAL 6TH DISTRICT CANDIDATE DEAN BARKLEY’S TURN-ONS AS “EROTICA”, “SKINNY DIPPING”, AND “PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF AFFECTION” #2

    By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 18, 2007

Minnesota Monitor spoke with former U.S. Senator Dean Barkley and confirmed what I already knew: this IS Barkley's page on Match.com.  I had some people doubting my research skills today, but I knew it was his page before I posted it.

Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information on this developing story.

      Flags to would-be dates:

      1. His U.S. Senate photo

      2. His body type: “A few extra pounds”

      3. His best features: “Eyes”

      4. Pets he likes: “Gerbils”

      5. His job: “I am going to start my old law practice up because driving a metro mobility bus is not my dream job.”

      6. For fun, the old cut & pasted: “I love holding hands and taking walks with someone special.”

      6. Spelling Led Zeppelin, “Led Zeplin”

      Run. Fast.

a little off topic…but Minnesota Monitor has taken down the Michelle Bachmann post regarding her financial records…good Work MB..you called them on it and they bailed

Michael, I am sure you are proud of your work on this website, but in reality, it’s quite shameful. It’s one thing to talk about relevant political matters, but the joy that you seem to receive in disseminating useless information that only hurts and defames people really seems to speak to your personality. Enjoy it while it lasts.

      June 18th, 2007 at 10:35 pm

Mark does have a bit of a point. Why isnt there one of these devoted to Republicans? I dunno, could it speak to us DFL’ers good nature?

    5. Wade Speaker Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 12:31 am

Gee, Mark and Andrew, is their no specific website because the left has the lamestream media ? Or have neither of you ever heard of Salon or the Daily KOS, or even the Demoncratic Underground?

That so-called Shameful thing cuts both ways.

    6. Honeydog Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 5:15 am

Mark, you need an English lesson.

To defame is attack the good name or reputation of, as by uttering or publishing maliciously or falsely anything injurious; ie slander or libel.

Since this is true, it’s not defamation.

ROFLMAO, however your post accusing Michael of posting information that is false, ie libel, could be considered defamation since what Michael said is true.

As for blobs devoted to bashing Republicans, lol just look at the Liberal links section!

Mark, Andrew… who gives a rat’s ass what you two no-brain losers have to say. BTW — there are about a hundred “good natured” trolls like you online bitching about Republicans. The difference between you and those clowns, and MDE is that Michael does his research and posts facts.

When I first saw this topic, it seemed like a likely fake. It wouldn’t be the first time someone spoofed a politician online.

That it turns out to be true… LOL!

This whole thing makes Republicans look more desperate that Barkley. Nothing in his profile is the least bit strange much less deviant. It is public information so it’s fine to repeat but all it accomplishes is to confirm for many that the Republican faithful are borderline genophobes.

Meanwhile the post about Entenza’a little cabal gets almost no attention.

    10. gopgal Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 8:20 am

Here is the straight dope on this situation folks, Barkley wants to run for the US Congress in the MOST conservative district in the state. He would represent the people of the sixth district in DC, the people of the sixth district are not into erotica.

    11. Kerosene Hat Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 8:30 am

      gopgal,

No, the people in the 6th deny they are into erotica. I doubt the average computer in that district has any less porn on it than anywhere else or that the bachelor parties consist of nothing but bible reading and turning in early.

    12. gld Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 8:49 am

Explain to me how posting a link to a publically available website is out of bounds.

What is out of bounds is people like Andy Aplikowski who viscously attack the State GOP with reckless disregard to the truth and now try to take the moral high ground. Rumor has it that Andy is one of the driving forces behind Repya challenging Coleman.

If people like Andy spent half their time focused on Democrats rather than spending it all tearing down good Republicans, we wouldn’t be in the position we are today.

Great work Michael. This post is completely appropriate and FACTUAL. The Democrats don’t like it because it’s true, but I’m disappointed that your fellow Republicans have been so critical and do not have the will to fight and defeat the Democrats.

    13. Kerosene Hat Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 9:07 am

It’s factual, it’s just pointless because there is nothing even strange about Barkley profile. That being the case it begs the question of why repeat it on this site?

    14. gld Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 9:15 am

BECAUSE HE’S A FORMER US SENATOR AND POTENTIAL 2008 CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS, THAT’S WHY!

You guys need to get over this “let’s be nice to Democrats because then they’ll be nice to us and we can talk about issues only and that’s how we’ll win.”

      Defeatism at it’s best.

By the way, Michael did not draw any conclusions about Barkley’s dating profile, nor was he critical of it — he just posted a link. Draw your own conclusions about the appropriateness of the profile but don’t be critical of Michael for posting it.

Lastly, Barkely made this relevant when he posted his OFFICIAL US SENATE PHOTOGRAPH as well as mentioning that fact that he’s a FORMER US SENATOR. He’s trying to pick up chicks with that resume so it’s clearly fair game.

    15. Lassie Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 9:18 am

That match.com site is so full of typos and cliches, it does make me wonder if it’s a set-up. I viewed his portrait, and the other photos look as though they were taken from the web: one of him with Ventura, Bush, and an old rugby game photo. You’d think he’d have a more updated casual shot.

      MDE: Any comments from “Dbark1300?”

    16. Kerosene Hat Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 10:24 am

      gld,

You still haven’t been able to explain what the underlining issue is. It is fine to post it and comment on it but nobody has been able to explain what on the profile makes him any less qualified for the seat if he decided to run, other than typos I guess.

If you don’t like him on the issues then talk about the issues but that makes his profile meaningless. Otherwise I have to assume the die-hard Republicans are simple concerned with winning and not issues.

    17. Chestnut Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 10:26 am

KH, pull your undies out of your ass. Of course this is pointless. But it’s funny.

    18. Kerosene Hat Says:
      June 19th, 2007 at 10:33 am

      Chestnut,

Believe me I am having fun with it. I admit though I find the foaming reaction of gld’s more entertaining than the original post.

    19. Exclusive_Loser Says:

if it feels good then do it eh Kerosene?..it is relevant in that a potential candidate for CD6 is into porn..it is up to the voters to decide if that is ok or not… MB was only being factual..

    24. Kerosene Hat Says:
      June 20th, 2007 at 7:09 am

      Veritas,

No where did I say anything like “if it feels good do it”, nowhere did I say MB wasn’t being factual (I did actually say that the post was fine because it was factual). Nobody has yet explained why anybody should care that a candidate likes erotica. So if John Kline had a couple Playboys or Seifert had pictures of Paris Hilton on his computer should they resign? I’d like to see that press conference, “I John Kline feel I must resign my seat due to the fact I that saw, and will admit enjoyed, video of between four and five naked adult women while accidentally watching Cinemax television this past Friday night. I regret any pain I may have cause my family, supporters and constituents.”

    25. Mike Grimes Says:
      June 20th, 2007 at 7:44 am

For watever reason whenever I check profiles I don’t think Erotica means they like to sit at home watching lots and lots of porn, instead it seems to mean I’ve had sex in the past and would like to have it again so long as I can find someone thats not a jerk.
