UPDATE: MN GOP, DFL MAY MOVE CAUCUS DATE BACK TO FEBRUARY; WILL CIRESI STILL ABIDE BY DFL ENDORSEMENT?
By Michael B. Brodkorb | June 25, 2007
I spoke with Mike Ciresi's communications director Leslie Sandberg earlier this evening and she confirmed that Ciresi will still abide by the DFL endorsement. Sandberg said that Ciresi's campaign will have "thousands" of supporters attending precinct caucuses "whether the caucuses are held in February or March."
Mike Ciresi has previously said that he may not abide by the DFL endorsement if the caucus date was changed:
"Franken and Ciresi have both pledged to abide by the DFL endorsement process (if one is endorsed, the other will not run in a primary), although Ciresi hedged his commitment slightly. He said he will reconsider if the calendar for the caucuses and endorsement is changed from its traditional schedule of holding caucuses in March and a convention in June of the election year. The Legislature is considering moving those dates up." Source: Star Tribune, April 18, 2007
I first wrote about this subject earlier today on Minnesota Democrats Exposed. Please check back for updates.
