MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: DFL’S USE OF HITLER/NAZI COMPARISONS IN MINNESOTA
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 16, 2007
Congressman Keith Ellison's comparison of President Bush to Adolf Hitler last week is not the first time a DFLer or even the DFL Party, has compared Republicans to Adolf Hitler and Nazis.
- The Minnesota DFL distributed "Bush/Cheney — Most hated world leaders since Hitler" bumper stickers in 2004.
- The SD 42 DFL website once called the SD 42 Republicans "Goebbelesque" and contained the following message: "They're so SENSITIVE to being called Nazis, but if the boot fits . . ." The Nazi reference was later removed.
- Former State Senator Steve Kelley, the DFL-endorsed candidate for attorney general in 2006, once "compared a Pledge of Allegiance requirement to the rituals of Nazi Germany."
- Former State Senator Becky Lourey, a DFL candidate for governor in 2006, compared DOMAgate to the Nazi persecution of Jews.
- Coleen Rowley's campaign blog published a picture of Congressman John Kline, a decorated U.S. Marine, dressed in a Nazi uniform.

Great quotes, don’t you think?
I especially like the one where Becky Lourey minimizes the tragedy and ugliness of the Holocaust by suggesting that by defining marriage as being between a man and a woman DOMA somehow “went after” gay people.
Oh, and as if gay people have ever been kept down and oppressed! Hello people, have you not SEEN Will and Grace? Please. They run Hollywood.
Them and the Jews. Coincidence? I think not.

The observation Michael is making is an important one for all republicans to fully comprehend. The emotionalism engendered by democrats citing Hitler comparisons is more important to democrats than reasoned civil debate. We are not dealing with the type of rational thiking we need from our opponents to be able to conduct this democracy the way it was intended to be conducted.
Dennis Prager will discuss this topic at length if we get him the details.
Ellison’s mistake will only cost him if somehow we can get the word out. He has no intention of apologizing for his poor choice of comparisons. He apparently has no intention of apologizing for anything, ever.
Above the law and above reproach.
The nincompoop has got to go!

Drew-
I’m sad to say that Ellison won’t feel any heat over this no matter how much we get the word out.
He’s already tried to backtrack on his comments late last week. The Red Star (true to form) has already given him a pass. Read last Saturday’s editorial.
I’ve not heard B’nai B’rith (sp?) complain nor any other Jewish advocacy groups, local or nationwide.
Getting back to the Red Star. Take a look at some of the recent letters to the editor. They fully agree with Ellison’s comments and in fact, were more strident about it than Ellison was.
Expect more of this sort of thing from Keith “Jihad” Ellison. Once he realizes he’s bullet-proof, he’ll unfortunately “expound” on more and more of this. He could quite easily become Minnesota’s version of Cynthia McKinney or Maxine Waters.

Might want to keep FMB off your comment section. It doesn’t help your point when you say the DFL is quick to paint conservatives as Nazis and then the first comment is from a guy who thinks the Jews control the media.

FMB sums up the Republicans viewpoint on this quite accurate to their beleifs.

FMB is a parody….and an idiot

DJZ,
FMB sums up the Republicans viewpoint on this quite accurate to their beleifs.
a) I AM the Republican viewpoint, and you are, to be charitable, wrong.
b) I before E except after C.
c) Screw being charitable. You are an idiot.

Hey want to have some fun, compare Wellstone to Hitler and watch the liberals scream foul!

When I went by the SD42 DFL 4th of July booth their secretary Patti Indre handed me a copy of the Constitution and told “my President” to read it (uh, huh, you’re so funny) and told me she’s supporting Hilary because we need a woman president and because “Men are destroying this world” I said “Are you serious?” staring at the poor guy next to her– “Yes, they are destroying this world”…They are nutjobs….

Bush Derangement Syndrome is alive and well among liberal Democrats. There is no cure.

“In this campaign season, there is seemingly no length to which the Democratic Party, like the National Socialist Party of seventy years ago, will not go.
“Observing today’s Democratic Party raises a deadly serious question: Is it inevitable that a party of hate will become a party of violence?â€

Interesting counterpoints Eva… except in the John Hinderacker case, he was absolutely correct to compare the violence of Democrat “activists” working to intimidate and oppress opposing views to the Nazi brownshirts… they committed the same crimes to achieve the same ends.

With that comment, Chestnut’s credibility exits Stage Left.

Do Republican BPOU leaders say things like “Women are destroying this world”? Google that one and get back to me.

djz, your credibility was never higher than nil. Not when you support an obvious troll like FMB. LOL
July 17th, 2007 at 6:15 am
Explain DJZ. My credibility is wholly truthful and accurate. I’d say it, at a minimum, is near center stage.
Nazi brownshirts beat and intimidated their opposition. Democrats, in the cases cited by Powerline, beat and intimidated their opposition. Both had the same motive, to silence and oppress.
In one case, Democrats smashed in the windows of GOP headquarters, dragged a worker into the hallway and beat him, breaking his arm. In another, Democrats were slashing the tires of GOP get out the vote vans. … these are not isolated incidents.
Those are comparisons to Nazi tactics that hold water.

Come on, DJZ, you know better than that. If you want to read the anti-Semetic comments, go to MNPublius and read everything Chuck and others have written. Anti-Semetism is alive and well today and it’s on the left.
