“FRANKEN FLUNKY” BEHIND COMPLAINT AGAINST MN GOP
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 17, 2007
"State GOP spokesman Mark Drake said on Monday that the party is confident it's taking all necessary steps to comply with FEC regulations.
Drake also accused Sloan of being a shill for Al Franken, a DFL candidate for the seat held by U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman, a Republican. 'This is obviously a politically motivated attack from a left-wing Al Franken flunky who is trying to silence the Republican Party of Minnesota,' Drake said in an e-mail.
'CREW executive director Melanie Sloan is a former Democratic counsel for the House Judiciary Committee and a longtime Al Franken crony who has appeared on his show repeatedly to attack Republicans,' Drake wrote. 'Sloan was such a lackey on Franken's radio show that she was given her own theme music set to 'Bad to the Bone.'" Source: Star Tribune, July 16, 2007

Gotta watch out for them flunky shills. They’re nothing but trouble. Who would stoop so low as to blur the line between political operative and campaign worker?
Gosh, it’s just unthinkable. Leave it to the DFL!

I talked to Dianne Girth, who lives in St Paul and signed on to this complaint. CREW asked her to sign on. She doesn’t sign onto things such as this lightly. She said she believes that Minnesota has a “tradition of openess and honesty”, and believes the the problem raised by CREW require an audit. She also said she’d sign on to a similar complaint against the DFL, should they have similar problems, and that she “would have been embarrassed had this been the democrats.”

Michael, are you saying that this complaint has no merit?

“She also said she’d sign on to a similar complaint against the DFL,”
CREW will never file that complaint. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, CREW is supposed to be non-partisan, but of the 61 “legal actions” that crew has undertaken, 60 of them have targeted Republicans. The lone Democrat is William Jefferson, and that was after the DOJ had taken action.
Dianne Girth is a democratic activist, and this lawsuit is politically motivated by a group who is legally required by IRS regulation to avoid political activity.
