MDE FROM THE ARCHIVES: FRANKEN’S LONG-TIME COMEDY PARTNER SAID FRANKEN WAS ONCE “PRO-LIFE”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 23, 2007
This is the second post in a series I like to call "What Every Democrat Needs to Know About Al Franken." Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information about Franken's pro-life, pro-war positions.

"Moreover, even though Franken practically brags about helping his brother to dodge the draft, he toured for the USO the last two holiday seasons. And as his old partner Tom Davis observes, 'He does have a conservative streak in him. When I first met him, he was actually pro-life.'
Davis and Franken had a falling out ten years ago, and have not spoken since, but certainly they once were close. They had hitchhiked together from their homes in Minnesota to Los Angeles, where they worked as a comedy team in clubs. In 1975, they were hired, sight unseen, for 'Saturday Night Live,' then a fledging comedy show set to begin production in New York. It was a success almost immediately, and Franken was one of the reasons." Source: The American Spectator, May, 2001

Al Who?
Broom/Wellstone was spotted just the other day at a Holiday gas station passing out free Pepsi, shirts, and stickers, delicious looking Hooters girls were in full uniform w/Broom, The only thing he could’ve did better would be to have free brats next time.
You heard it here 1st MDE- Hollywood will be supporting Broom next year.
Its also been rumored, that after Broom’s statewide tour this year, he will be holding “pre-celebration” bashes.
When I asked Broom why he wasn’t on MDE lately, he replied Mike B. has a very special place in my heart and is welcome to all Broom sponsored events

Broom has also assured me that in the near future there will be video’s of himself on the site addressing the state of Minnesota and the Country. Speaking of Pro-life matters, BROOM IS NOT A BUTCHER!

Eventually even the most cynical wake up to the sanctity of life. It’s a fundamental truth that can’t be denied.
To own that truth and then dismiss it in order to accepted in Leftyland is a devastating testimonial about what price a man is willing to charge for his soul.

I’m surprised that Al Franken was ever pro-life. I wonder what changed his mind. What’s his position now? Did his former pro-life beliefs hold him to a moderate pro-choice view? Does he support The Partial Birth Abortion Ban that was just recently upheld as constitutional by the Supreme Court? I doubt it. He seems to me to be an all or nothing type of guy.
Also, I really wonder what he thinks it takes to be U.S. Senator. The man is a talented entertainer and has had a long prestigious career and he is very popular with many liberals. But, he is also a very polarizing figure, to say the least! I know he won’t do well with middle of the road Democrats and Independents at the ballot box if he indeed makes it on the ticket.
Why is he so bent on becoming U.S. Senator Franken? I think as an entertainer and comedian he may tend to see life too much as a stage. I don’t hold this against him, when he is not in the political realm and doing what he likes and does best, such as Comedy and non political satire, he is rather likeable. But people I think should go with what they are naturally good at and choose endeavors that stoke their fiery passion, not ones that deaden the body’s soul causing frantic gasping to hold on to what bit of oxygen is commanding its way out!
I don’t see Al Franken as a person who is suited for political office and I don’t even think he enjoys running for office. I don’t think he is really fully grasps yet the magnitude of his decisions. The world isn’t show business. There aren’t retakes in reality. Being in the arts one can be loose and playful, but that doesn’t work in politics. He knows this of course; He is a very bright man. I think his ego has jumped far ahead of his common sense.
Now if he were on the ballot running in the 4th, 5th or 7th Minnesota Congressional districts he would win hands down! Assuming of course he won the nomination!
My gut feeling is that if Franken is the nominee for the Democrats then Senator Coleman would have a very decisive win come November 2008.
Now, when we all gather on election night (on possibly a bone chilly November first Tuesday) it would good to not to be forced to sweat out the senate race inside in the warmth. If Hilary Clinton is running for president their will be enough sweating! We wouldn’t want to go out in the cold in that condition, we might catch a cold.

I would not go and bet the farm on that assertion pj!!! If Franken ends up being the DFL endorsed candidate, he will give ole Norm a hell of a fight and it will not be pretty. Al will be after accountability with Norm on the issues, not what happened 30 or so years ago.
Pro-Life is a misnomer. It’s Anti-Abortion. Many who are opposed to Abortion support the Death Peanalty in all or most caases.
