ATTACK MACHINE AGAINST COLEMAN DIDN’T TAKE A RESPECTFUL PAUSE
By Michael B. Brodkorb | July 30, 2007
I made a personal decision to take the weekend off from posting on the U.S. Senate race, due to the death of Senator Coleman's father. While numerous liberal bloggers posted condolences for Senator Coleman and his family on their blogs, the attack machine against Coleman didn't take a respectful pause.
1. Al Franken goes on Air America AFTER it had been announced that Senator Coleman's father had died and attacks Coleman. Franken, nor the show's host said anything about the passing of Coleman's father.
2. Blogs such as MN Blue and Inside Minnesota Politics continued their attacks on Senator Coleman, while other blog like MN Publius and Centristy posted condolences for Senator Coleman's family.
3. As Senator Coleman and his family is preparing for a funeral today at Arlington National Cemetary for Coleman's father, protesters showed up at Coleman's home yesterday in St. Paul for a protest:
"The rally — during which participants first gathered at Summit Avenue and North Lexington Parkway and then marched about a mile to Coleman's house on Osceola Avenue — came a day before today's burial of Coleman's father, Norman Coleman Sr., at Arlington National Cemetery. He died Thursday of bladder cancer at 82.
Protest organizers discussed whether to change their plans in reaction to the elder Coleman's death, said Alondra Espejel, with the Minnesota Immigrant Freedom Network.
Seeing parallels in the grief felt by Sen. Coleman and that of children who have had parents deported, organizers decided to go ahead." Source: Star Tribune, July 29, 2007
Rarely do I swear on my blog, but this situation deserves it. What a bunch of classless bastards.

I’m sure they discussed whether to change their plans. That discussion probably lasted about 20 seconds with a unanimous “fuck him” vote, followed by 45 minutes or so of making fun of Norm’s dead father.
“Classless bastards” is too polite. These guys are scum sucking assholes.

I just about puked watching the news last night. What a bunch of shameless propagandists!
No one disputes that its a terrible thing that a Mother is separated from her children. Duh! But lets get real about where the responsibility lies. This illegal immigrant Mom signed a court agreement that she would leave by a specified date. She failed to do so and miraculously the U.S. enforced teh law. Now she claims she didn’t understand the court document because it was in English? Sorry. That excuse doesn’t work.
Unless we counter this type of abject nincompoopism (see: twisting the facts to serve the goal of upending immigration law) there’s no way we will get anywhere on illegal immigration.
This Mom had the opportunity to immigrate legally and for whatever reason chose to ignore the law of the land. Now she pays the price.
No disrespect intended to Hispanics. You are welcome here LEGALLY. But if you break the law you will not be allowed to stay. Period.
Norm feels your pain. But he also understands the law and I hope he continues to stand up for the rule of law.
The DFL strategists that assembled this protest in front of Norm’s house while his family is grieving teh death of Norm Sr. are probably the same nincompoops that dropped that sick lit piece in 28B over the weekend.
Classless nincompoops!
July 30th, 2007 at 8:30 am
Does any of this surprise you? Not me. These people are hemorrhoids on the ass of society.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:31 am
What Bobby Kennedy said years ago holds true today: “Nobody hates like a liberal.”
July 30th, 2007 at 8:31 am
To call the people protesting in front of Norm’s place “DFL strategists” is a joke.
The real party members are indeed focused on the 28B race. Sviggy was very nice to offer up a seat for the taking.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:40 am
Agreed, very classless and insensitive.
I hope the house was empty.
In my opinion, an elected official’s home is off limits. This timing makes it much worse.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:46 am
Well, a story I think I told here a while back….I was driving back from Wisc in June 2004 when President Reagan’s death was announced on the radio. Stopped at Hudson to pick up some stuff (last stop before high beer prices in Minnesota) and some dumbfuck Democrat was standing on a busy street corning holding a large sign that said “Burn in Hell, Ronald Reagan”. This was about 1 hour after his death was first announced to the public. As stated above, nobody hates like a liberal.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:47 am
Drew:
“DFL strategists…are probably the same nincompoops that dropped that sick lit piece in 28B over the weekend”???
Michael has already shown us that the DFL Party’s disclaimer is on that lit piece, although there is some debate as to if it was the House Caucus who were behind it and had the Party send it out.
So clearly, you are insinuating that the DFL Party, or House Caucus, is behind this truly distasteful and disrespectful protest (I may be a DFLer, but I do respect a family’s loss, and even I am offended by this protest).
So here is my question.
Got any proof????
I thought not.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:56 am
The party of Humphrey is long dead. These people have no class.
July 30th, 2007 at 8:59 am
I find it hard to believe that nearly six years after the worst terrorist attack in our nation’s history; as individuals from terrorist supporting nations are routinely caught invading our country via the southern border; and as illegal immigrants have been caught planning terrorist attacks in the country, that anyone takes seriously this group of tactless assholes undermining our national sovereignty and security.
It’s time to throw the Minneapolis Sanctuary City Council and its mayor out of office. It’s time to demand that our borders are sealed. It’s time to demand that lawful immigrants be given priority over those who sneak over our boarders. It’s time to deport every illegal immigrant, starting with those who commit even the most minor of crimes.
They don’t have a right to be here. They are invaders and criminals. It’s time to send them home.
July 30th, 2007 at 9:05 am
BTW — the whore that organized this display, is the same whore defending the illegal immigrant sex-slave prostitution ring in Minneapolis.

Get a copy of that news video and air it all through 2008. This might prove to be another “Wellsone memorial” vote switch for a Senator Coleman win. Classless bastards, indeed.
July 30th, 2007 at 10:01 am
Why is anyone surprised?
Moonbats are incapable of showing repect for their own…have you all forgotten the Wellstone “memorial”??

I’ll bet these are some of the same “demcratic activists” who demanded a halt to all campaign activity after the Wellstone crash and then found nothing wrong with the Wellstone “Super Jumboton memorial event.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:22 pm
Swiftee,
Show me one shred of proof that the DFL party wrote or approved the speeches at the Wellstone memorial? I’d love to see it.
July 30th, 2007 at 1:52 pm
Yeah Guffaw, there wasn’t a Dumpocrap anywhere in the vacinity of Wellstone’s parting debacle; it was all done by Haliburton agents….
Pfft.
Will you do one more little turn for us in your pretty, pretty asshat before you leave?
July 30th, 2007 at 1:54 pm
BTW, When I say “moonbats”… it’s nice to know that even a Dem immediately thinks “DFL Party”…
July 30th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Guffaw who needs to know who wrote it, clearly the attending democRats approved as they frantically clapped and cheered.
The Wellstone debacle was just a nice inside look as to who these people really are. What was really refreshing about it is how the local and national public rejected the type of liberalism that was on display there. How many liberals had to cry their eyes dry after that election?
Hmm… was that the same one Daschle lost in? Wellstone and Daschle now gone, who would have thought America could wake up and send these losers home?
(Yes Wellstone was going to lose his race my friendly liberals)
July 30th, 2007 at 2:21 pm
Some of these activities don’t have to be organzied by the DFL party. If the people who behave in this manner are active in the party….it just goes to the whole mentality.
Of course when DFL councilman Thune is one of the primary organizers of next years hate-fest in St Paul…..
July 30th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
Yes, DFLers, you can be your own worst enemy. Daschle would be in office today if it wasn’t for the infamous Michael Moore hug. You hang out with the lowest forms of life, and it will come back to bite you on the ass.
People may not like a lot of the Republican party right now, but they don’t see the far left as a decent alternative.
July 30th, 2007 at 2:30 pm
Exactly, you have no evidence the DFL wrote or approved any of those speeches because they did not. Rick Kahn is a fruitcake, who although he was in shock from losing a close friend, he should have known better then to give a speech like that.
But when tragedy strikes who knows better then to take advantage of it then Republicans. Norm rode the Kahn spin train all the way to DC and he would have never beat Mondale without it, seeing that Mondale cleaned his clock in the debate.
Let’s not forget which party is the real puppet master “Hi, Norm it’s Dick… say I’ve decided your gonna run for Senate now and Timmy is gonna run for Gov. Got that? Good, talk to you later.”
July 30th, 2007 at 2:42 pm
Every Democrat is a fruitcake.
July 30th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
“Rick Kahn is a fruitcake, who although he was in shock from losing a close friend…”
So you agree with us that Wellstone, the Dumpocrap’s substitute for Christ Himself, was surrounded by fruitcakes.
No surprise really. The guy was a fruitcake himself and as we all know, like attracts like.
July 30th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
quick question would you expect the campaign to stall due to the expected death of a family member if there was less then 2 weeks until election day.
In light of the 2002 Wellstone aftermath, I’m of the belief that if you stop for even a day your not doing your duty as elections do have consiquences that are much greater then a single persons life. Showing respect does not mean stoping the campaign and nobody should expect that. As far as I can tell nobody mentioned anything the elder Coleman might have been known for other then the positives and that to me shows a great level of respect towards Norm Coleman.
July 30th, 2007 at 2:56 pm
[...] This weekend, the Minnesota Left turned themselves into the equivalent of Fred Phelps when they decided to picket the home of Senator Norm Coleman — as he and his family prepared to bury his father, Norm Coleman, Sr. Coleman’s presumed opponent for the 2008 Senate Race, Al Franken, couldn’t breathe a word of sympathy for Coleman, and some — not all — of the liberal bloggers here in the state followed his lead: A few hundred protesters crowded together briefly Sunday afternoon on the sidewalk and in the street in front of U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman’s St. Paul home, shouting for an end to immigration policies and enforcement practices that the demonstrators say unfairly divide families. [...]
July 30th, 2007 at 3:24 pm
As I said Kahn’s a fruitcake, he’s shown by his actions at the memorial, but more so afterwards by not apologizing that his comments were inappropriate.
Kahn left a gigantic opening, which the GOP exploited for all it’s worth. What is inaccurate to say though, is to say the DFL planned, wrote or approved Kahn’s comments at the memorial.

#### And yet all the DFL in attendance clapped and cheered! I have little doubt you yourself were cheering and thought it was just great until you heard the publics reaction.
But when tragedy strikes who knows better then to take advantage of it then Republicans.
########## Did you happen to notice the thread about Norm Coleman’s father?? Facts are facts and it has always been the liberals who hate the most and have been proven to be the party of vandalism.
Ever notice the polictical yard sign wars? It is always the Republicans whos signs are taken or destroyed. Republicans can beat liberals with ideas and actions, we do not need to stoop to such levels.
Norm rode the Kahn spin train all the way to DC and he would have never beat Mondale without it, seeing that Mondale cleaned his clock in the debate.
############ Wow, is that the new medical pot you are smoking? Mondale never had any momentum at all and was a dead horse coming in. Wellstone himself was slipping in the polls and it was very much looking like he would beat Wellstone! Wellstone had become the joke we all knew he really was. The whole two term thing really hurt him as he absolutly proved that he was the total hypocrit others had called him.
Let’s not forget which party is the real puppet master “Hi, Norm it’s Dick… say I’ve decided your gonna run for Senate now and Timmy is gonna run for Gov. Got that? Good, talk to you later.”
Hehehe!!! let’s see previously you wanted FACTS of who wrote what or said what and here you are just spewing your obvious hatred of Republicans.
So I would assume you have these calls on tape or some other eveidence beside what you read over at Daily Kos?
Guffaw you have been exposed to be a total asshat!
July 30th, 2007 at 3:41 pm
Guffaw i guess I have to dispel your world and let you in on the real conspiracy! Wellstone killed himself!
He came to realize just how awful his policies were and also knew in his heart the race was lost and he would lose. Knowing how this would effect his political party he saw little option but to force the plane down and hopefully become a marter.
Oh I bet that bothers you some.
July 30th, 2007 at 4:04 pm
Guffaw,
Rick Kahn was only one part of the pep rally that was supposed to be the Wellstone memorial. Don’t you remember Sen. Tom Harkin saying the Democrats needed to win that seat for Wellstone? Don’t you remember Bill and Hillary Clinton sitting there yucking it all up. Don’t you remember people booing Sen. Trent Lott and other Republicans when they were introduced as being present for the memorial? If you don’t think the speeches were orchastrated for political gain, you’re smoking something illegal.
July 30th, 2007 at 4:10 pm
“Kahn left a gigantic opening, which the GOP exploited for all it’s worth.”
The GOP in general, and Senator Coleman in particular kept a mile away from the debacle. This was a genuine all Democrat production. The aftermath was genuine public outrage, and you know it.

It would be interesting to dig up Nick Colemans’ Pioneer Press column about the Wellstone “Super Jumbotron” Memorial Event. As I recall Nick Colemon praised it as a “godd old fasioned racious demcratic political ralley” or something to that effect.
I recall this was frequently mentioned on talk radio and on the street (except the street in front of Wellstone campaign headquarters) as evidence that the Wellstone “Super Jumbotron” Memorial was a giant campaign free campaign commercial.
As I recall I turned the car radio on at quarter after nine, more than two hours after the event started and Tom Harkin was just starting his speech.
July 30th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
You know what is really discouraging about all of this. Despite all of the stupid behavior people voted for the Democrats in 2006 in a large enough margin to give majorties in the Minnesota state house let alone Congress to a party that doesn’t deserve it.
Why will people vote them despite knowing what they do. It’s something else. Free money? Attacking people who do much better than they do?
How do we overcome that?

“seeing that Mondale cleaned his clock in the debate.”
ROFLMAO, and just what were you smoking before you watched this debate Guffaw? What I watched Mondale say during the debate surely sealed the election for Coleman.
July 31st, 2007 at 6:50 am
Norm wiped up the debate floor with Mondale, who himself looked embalmed and ready for a casket. Walter Mondale is so out of touch, and at that time out of political practice, he was shredded by Coleman.
The idea that that derelict old fool held even a candle to Norm in the Senate debate is about the most insane thing I’ve read lately.
Norm showed class, intelligence and poise. Walter showed us 1970s liberalism gasping its last breath.
July 31st, 2007 at 10:39 am
Walter, here is how you guys can overcome your losses, stop fucking up our country and pissnig everyone off. Stop interfering in people’s lives with your bullshit moral superiority and stop recklessly attacking countries. Oh, and actually follow the cut taxes cut spending philosophy so you dont ruin the economy would help a bit too.
Daschle lost in 04.
I see no reason why the attack on Coleman have to stop because his father died. He is a big boy, he can handle the critism. Hell, he is a politician in the mold of Bush, critism just slides off his back and is ignored. I doubt he even hears any of the critism. They will all just post their attack posts the next day anyway, why delay inevitable.
Politician’s houses should DEFINITELY be offlimits. I don’t care about having a rally but outside of his house is ridiculous. Have it on the corner of his street or somewhere near his house but in front is a bit much. The fact that people know where they live really scares me. There will always be some psycho who decides to throw a brick through a window.
No one hates like a liberal, how about no one hates like a Christian fundamentalist. The Phelps family protesting at soldier funerals, people protesting at Matthew Shepherd’s funeral saying they are glad he is buring in hell, some psycho Christian witch getting in my face and quoting the bible at me for being indecisive about abortion, puhlease. Both sides have their psychos.
July 31st, 2007 at 11:33 am
Andrew, you’re a hoot.
1) Moral superiority? Check your liberal amoral buddies. We only seem superior because we actually have morals.
2) The country is fucked up thanks to 60 years of liberal control. Thank them. We were only just making headway at setting things right.
3) It’s called national security. If liberals would stop enabling terrorists, we wouldn’t have to attack other countries.
4) Bush tax cuts… largest tax cuts in history… also led to the largest government revenues in history… and the strongest economy in history.
The Bush economy is rock fucking solid. We’ve never seen such growth and vitality in the U.S. economy. What the hell are you talking about.
… and actually, nobody hates like a Muslim. At least Fred Phelps is an extreme minority, shunned and marginalized by Christians.
Speaking of psychos… ever watched the part of the PRIDE parade that the media doesn’t cover? That trash needs to be thrown out.

It fits, I have never heard of a conservative defending Dan Phelps, it’s always the liberal/progressive ACLU types.

August 1st, 2007 at 8:09 am
Good points Honeydog. Of course, Al Gore put his bitch in her place once he had ambitions for higher office. Once he needed the Hollywood money, she shut her pie hole about record labeling.
That’s what liberal men do. They shut their women up when it becomes inconvenient.
