I propose a new term for those who wouldn’t give a pause out of respect for the death of Norm Coleman’ father. “Fred Phelps decorats” (or “Fred Phelps progressives”.

It fits, I have never heard of a conservative defending Dan Phelps, it’s always the liberal/progressive ACLU types.

I see no reason why the attack on Coleman have to stop because his father died. He is a big boy, he can handle the critism. Hell, he is a politician in the mold of Bush, critism just slides off his back and is ignored. I doubt he even hears any of the critism. They will all just post their attack posts the next day anyway, why delay inevitable.

Politician’s houses should DEFINITELY be offlimits. I don’t care about having a rally but outside of his house is ridiculous. Have it on the corner of his street or somewhere near his house but in front is a bit much. The fact that people know where they live really scares me. There will always be some psycho who decides to throw a brick through a window.

No one hates like a liberal, how about no one hates like a Christian fundamentalist. The Phelps family protesting at soldier funerals, people protesting at Matthew Shepherd’s funeral saying they are glad he is buring in hell, some psycho Christian witch getting in my face and quoting the bible at me for being indecisive about abortion, puhlease. The idea that that derelict old fool held even a candle to Norm in the Senate debate is about the most insane thing I’ve read lately.

Norm showed class, intelligence and poise. Walter showed us 1970s liberalism gasping its last breath.

I recall this was frequently mentioned on talk radio and on the street (except the street in front of Wellstone campaign headquarters) as evidence that the Wellstone “Super Jumbotron” Memorial was a giant campaign free campaign commercial.

As I recall I turned the car radio on at quarter after nine, more than two hours after the event started and Tom Harkin was just starting his speech.

The GOP in general, and Senator Coleman in particular kept a mile away from the debacle. This was a genuine all Democrat production. The aftermath was genuine public outrage, and you know it.

Rick Kahn was only one part of the pep rally that was supposed to be the Wellstone memorial. Don’t you remember Sen. Tom Harkin saying the Democrats needed to win that seat for Wellstone? Don’t you remember Bill and Hillary Clinton sitting there yucking it all up. Don’t you remember people booing Sen. Trent Lott and other Republicans when they were introduced as being present for the memorial? If you don’t think the speeches were orchastrated for political gain, you’re smoking something illegal.

He came to realize just how awful his policies were and also knew in his heart the race was lost and he would lose. Knowing how this would effect his political party he saw little option but to force the plane down and hopefully become a marter.

Kahn left a gigantic opening, which the GOP exploited for all it’s worth. What is inaccurate to say though, is to say the DFL planned, wrote or approved Kahn’s comments at the memorial.

In light of the 2002 Wellstone aftermath, I’m of the belief that if you stop for even a day your not doing your duty as elections do have consiquences that are much greater then a single persons life. Showing respect does not mean stoping the campaign and nobody should expect that. As far as I can tell nobody mentioned anything the elder Coleman might have been known for other then the positives and that to me shows a great level of respect towards Norm Coleman.

No one disputes that its a terrible thing that a Mother is separated from her children. Duh! But lets get real about where the responsibility lies. This illegal immigrant Mom signed a court agreement that she would leave by a specified date. She failed to do so and miraculously the U.S. enforced teh law. Now she claims she didn’t understand the court document because it was in English? Sorry. That excuse doesn’t work.

Unless we counter this type of abject nincompoopism (see: twisting the facts to serve the goal of upending immigration law) there’s no way we will get anywhere on illegal immigration.

This Mom had the opportunity to immigrate legally and for whatever reason chose to ignore the law of the land. Now she pays the price.
