MINNESOTA DEMOCRATS POLITICIZE 35-W BRIDGE COLLAPSE – JEFF FECKE

By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 2, 2007

"It's tempting to attack the Republicans for this, and indeed, I will; the GOP in my state, led by Tim Pawlenty, has cheerfully put off funding roads and transit in order to avoid having to raise taxes. And obviously we've poured a ton of money into Iraq with little to show for it." Source: Blog of the Moderate Left

“But the truth is that the Democrats haven’t been much better; they’ve been far too willing to meekly agree that taxes are always inherently evil, and to avoid fully-funding our nation’s infrastructure because…well, I mean, who notices if a bridge is a little bit old?”

Just thought I’d complete the paragraph there for you, Mike.

Probably just a name coincidence but the resurfacing work on the I-35W bridge was being done by “Progressive Contractors!”. Hmm! Probably just a name coincidence!

Why did the contractor pick that company name?

I just posted my thoughts and theories on the collapse at my http://soliah.com and my http://thedailydigital.com or use this link.

Jeff, you are a loathsome troll. The bodies aren’t even cold and you are spewing out political slime. You have no shame, and no ethics. Congrats.

  5. Chris Says:

    Fecke,

You’re blaming the bridge collapse on funding when you don’t even know why the bridge collapsed. Spouting off on a tragedy before you even know what happened is truly pathetic. You’re a leech on the victims of yesterday’s tragedy and you should be ashamed.

  6. Chestnut Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 3:01 PM

Jeff, you are clearly as dumb as you are dishonest.

The state has poured no money in to Iraq. But I’m assuming your readers are as blazing stupid as you are.

Everything you lying, ignorant trolls bitch about is connected to BushHitler and Iraq.

Go get another roll of tin foil, your hat is getting worn. Jackass.

Trueism – the sun always rises in the east. Another trueism that manifested itself as early as today is that i told my wife that within 24 hours liberals would be blaming the bridge collapse on: a) Bush; b) Pawlenty; c) Republicans in general. No surprise, the answer is a, b, and c.
what a bunch of slimy assholes.

Last night I first noticed the partisan attack beginning when KMSP’s TIM BLOTZ started blaming “The current state administration”. What a total creep this guy is ! No concern about the victims — unless they can be used as PROPS to SMEAR a Republican !

  10. CR Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 4:47 PM

I find it interesting that people are jumping to blame the Minnesota government whereas I believe that the responsibility of I-35 is the Federal governments not the states to be responsible for repairing this road. Is this understanding correct?

  11. broadcorp Says:

  13. Chestnut Says:

It’s the state’s job CR. The get federal money to help… but the Democrats withhold road funding… so shit doesn’t get done.

  14. djz Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 6:14 PM

    Hey numbNut,

Can you show where the DFLers withheld any road funding? Because you can bet your ass I can show you where Republicans have voted against roads and bridges. i can also show you two Pawlenty vetos for roads and bridges.

You can’t and we know but, it sounds real good right?

  15. Chestnut Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 6:15 PM

DEMOCRATS LUMP SPECIAL INTEREST BULLSHIT AND RECORD TAX HIKES, AND A SHIT LOAD OF LARD IN WITH EVERY ROADS BUDGET.

YOU GODDAM RIGHT HE VETOES THAT SHIT DJZ.

You dumb, dumb, dumb, piece of pig shit.

  16. Michael B. Brodkorb Says:

    Broadcorp/every republican ever:

Please leave and don’t come back. Your racists comments are not welcomed here.

  17. Chestnut Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 6:27 PM

Here’s what Pawlenty vetoed. It’s not a transportation bill, it’s a goddam socialist bill:

“a transportation bill containing more than $5 billion in tax and fee increases, including adding 7-1/2 cents to the per-gallon gasoline tax, a “wheelage” tax (a tax on vehicles), sales tax increases for transit spending, an excise tax on new car purchases, and increased tab and license fees with a total cost to the average Minnesota family of up to $500 a year.”

FIVE BILLION DOLLARS IN TAX INCREASES…

  18. AlFrankenFraud Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 6:43 PM

The I-35W bridge collapse exposed liberals for who they are, irresponsible, callous, opportunist, hypocritical partisan bastards.

  19. AlFrankenFraud Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 6:45 PM

    DJZ,

You are a sorry piece of DFL crap.

  20. DJZ Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 7:11 PM

Thanks AlFrankenFriend, that puts me just two steps above the Republican hacks.

Get real, you’ve never come to this site to spread anything but insults and lies. Seems you continue on the path.

  21. Surly Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 7:48 PM

    DJZ and others:

My company will very likely be involved in the demolition/removal of the 35W bridge. One of our people was speaking with an engineer familiar with its design who laid out a very plausible scenario explaining how the current construction activity could have triggered the collapse. I have no idea if he is in any way correct with his hypothesis, but I am curious – if it turns out that the bridge fell due to current repairs, rather than lack of repairs, will you then blame Governor Pawlenty for having authorized them?

  22. Swiftee Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 7:55 PM

Feckless Jeff is not alone. One of Saint Paul’s gutter dwellers has jumped right into the toilet with him:

    http://restraininorder.blogspot.com/2007/08/fuck-injured-and-deadlets-get-to-gop.html

Close circuit to DJZ: Fuck you asswipe.

    To the rest:

Didn’t we just vote to dedicate funds to Roads only to find that it went to the choo-choo train that your pinheaded ilk are shoving down our throats?

We had to pass a fucking LAW to attempt to make the stinking lefties in the legislature spend OUR tax money where WE wanted it to go…and STILL they found a way to siphon it off to their special projects.

If there is insufficient money going to ROADS and BRIDGES it is because we have a disease called Democrats which causes the billions of dollars the citizens pour into the state’s coffers do dissapear into black holes called “progressive programs”.

The only cure is a thourough purge.

  23. AlFrankenFraud Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 9:20 PM

    DJZ,

Calling you a piece of DFL crap was actually a promotion, you worm-ridden liberal piece of filth.

  24. Chris Says:
    August 2nd, 2007 at 11:28 PM

    DJZ said:

Can you show where the DFLers withheld any road funding?

You better be careful what you ask for, because sometimes you will get it. Governor Pawlenty proposed a bill in the last session, which was carried by Sen. Day that would have built over $1.5 billion in highways (which include bridges where necessary) and the Senate Transportation Committee wouldn’t even consider it.

  25. djz Says:

Well, I’m certainly popular. What’s the matter guys, getting a little nervous?

  26. AlFrankenFraud Says:

    DJZ,

You’re as popular as dog poop on a stick.

  27. Debbie Says:

    AlFrankenFRaud,

Are you going to be selling that from the GOP booth at the State Fair?

  28. The Lady Logician Says:
    August 3rd, 2007 at 10:31 AM

DJZ – WHO had control of the House and the Senate in 1990 when the bridge was first designated “structurally deficent”? WHO was in charge of the House and the Senate in 1997 when the follow up reports were released? WHO was in charge of the House and the Senate in 2000?

Last question, IF Governor Pawlenty HAD signed that Transportation bill, do you think Wednesday’s tragedy would have been prevented?????

    LL

  29. DJZ Says:
    August 3rd, 2007 at 10:54 AM

Lady Logician? When did you crawl out of Andy’s butt to come over here? This is Carey’s neighborhood, you’d better watch your back.

Usually if there is a Democrat in the executive, the buck stops there but, when the Republicans are in charge, it stops somewhere below them. Same story at the federal level. How much money did Pawlenty send back to DC because it was dedicated?

I don’t know if this tragedy could have been avoided, but I posted a link showing that there are 71 more potential ones if structural integrity is the reason. What is anyone going to do about that? Keep promising tax cuts?

  30. Chestnut Says:
    August 3rd, 2007 at 11:03 AM

DJZ, when, ever, has a Democrat taken responsibility for anything? …

  31. The Lady Logician Says:
    August 3rd, 2007 at 12:11 PM

    DJZ – nice duck there…..sweetie…

The problem with your “thinking” is that funding bills don’t come from the Executive branch…they come out of the Legislative branch so once again I ask…

WHO was in charge of the House and the Senate in 1991? 1997? 2000?????

So much for the buck stopping with the Dems….

    LL

  32. DJZ Says:
    August 3rd, 2007 at 1:12 PM

    LL,
The report stated the danger of the bridge in 2001, 2005 and 2006.

The Dems had the purse strings but the Governor as always has the veto pen. Except for 2000, all of the years you and I cite had a Republican Governor.

I guess he had his hands tied behind his back.

  33. Chestnut Says:
    August 3rd, 2007 at 3:01 PM

No DJZ… the reports on the bridge began in 1990.

The Senate has been run by Democrats since 1973. Democrats controlled the house throughout nearly all of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

    Liberals are cowards and liars.
