MDE ON THE RADIO: 35-W BRIDGE COLLAPSE
By Michael B. Brodkorb | August 4, 2007

I'll be on the radio for a two-hour program from 3-5 p.m. with King Banaian of SCSU Scholars on AM 1280 The Patriot.
The entire two hour program will be dedicated to the 35-W bridge collapse.
Before you listen to King and me, make sure you listen to the first four hours of the Northern Alliance Radio Network. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. you can hear Power Line's John Hinderaker and Chad and Brian from Fraters Libertas. Mitch Berg and Captain Ed are on the air from 1-3 pm.
I encourage you to all to listen. Broadcasts can be heard on AM 1280 The Patriot, which has an Internet stream for those outside the Twin Cities. Brave Democrats can join the conversation at 651-289-4488.
UPDATE: Congresswoman Bachmann was a guest starting at 3:00 p.m. to talk about the 35-W bridge collapse. Bachmann traveled to Minnesota from Washington D.C. with President Bush, Senators Coleman and Klobuchar, and Congressman Kline and Congressman Ellison to tour the aftermath of the 35-W bridge collapse.

Whatever happened to the presidential candidate of the week. Also when are we going to here more about the scope? And when will we be hearing more about David Stroms future in the city of Lakes?

Also are we gonna get to the bottom of why my spendaholic governor will use any excuse to break his no new taxes pledge. The feds are responsible for rebuilding the bridge. Unplanned inspections should be able to come out of a rainy day fund, now if they find the need to recunstruct multiple major bridges we may need a teporary revenue stream.
It’s about priorites not revenues. Transportation, education, public saftey, and the enviorment are the only things tax payer dollars should ever touch.

What about $12,0000,000 for the Shubert theater?

Minnesota’s revenue streams are just fine as they are. Mike’s got a good point about a potential temporary revenue stream in the case of a sudden, exceptional need for major bridge work. However, there’s no such thing as a temporary revenue stream in this state.
I remember when the state sales tax was raised to 6.5 percent to pay for the Metrodome. … Yeah, that’s been paid for now for 3+ years… The tax is still here… alongside talk of raising it even further.
Bonding is probably the right answer. And eliminating ridiculous expenses (e.g. the Shubert theater, Trollwood performing arts theater, more stadiums, and hundreds of other socialist feel-good b.s.).
