STAR TRIBUNE: WALZ HAS TAKEN NO POSITION ON OBERSTAR’S PROPOSAL TO RAISE THE GAS TAX

By Michael Brodkorb | August 13, 2007

"One reason, Keating said, is that Democrats don't want to hand an election-year issue to Republicans. 'The idea of Congress passing higher gas prices on motorists — I don't think anyone's going to be interested," he said. 'And any Democrat in a vulnerable district is going to think 'Please, guys, don't make me vote on this.''

One example is freshman Democrat Tim Walz, whose rural Minnesota constituents could be hit hard by higher gas prices. Walz, considered a top legislative target for Republicans next year, has taken no position on Oberstar's proposal so far." Source: Star Tribune, August 11, 2007

###

Gee, I wonder why Walz hasn't announced his position yet. Remember, Walz still tries to masquerade as an "independent leader" for southern Minnesota.

Nancy Pelosi hasn’t pulled Tim’s string yet.

Let’s see. Had he announced he was in favor of it, your headline would have been that Walz has yet again marched in lockstep with national liberals. But, now that he is possibly given the issue some independent thought, you criticize him for not having announced his position. How can he possibly win on this issue in your twisted little world?

You have to remember, Trompo, that this site denegrades Democrats wether or not they do the right thing by the people. This should be a no-brainer!! Tim can be doing everything right he said he would do and still get lambasted on this site. It’s a no-win situation.

Trouble is, kathy, Walz has done nothing right. And certainly nothing that’s right for the people.

Jumping in Nancy Pelosi’s purse is a cute trick, but bad for Minnesota.

    Yeah right, chesty!!
Whatever you say!! You’re the man.

A slate of his schedule during the August break. Does nothing right by the people.

Tim Walz has done nothing right by the people as chestnut opined. Just went to bat for National Guard benifits that even Michelle Bachmann supports. Does nothing right by the people.

Tim Walz, is using wind turbines in his rural Minnesota district – sustainable energy means jobs. Conservative rural residents are now proud of wind turbines, because it means economic growth. The political combination of rural and urban constituency groups is quite potent. Tim Walz does nothing right by the people.

Did his homework with the Small Farmer, consults with Farmers concerning the Farm Bill. Consulted with the big farner as well. Farm Bill benifits both. Does nothing right by the people.

Goes to bat for the Veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan in getting more financial benifits for their families and seeing that thewir after war care is the best. Does nothing right by the people.

Votes to ensure College loans are at a lower interest rate and votes for a few more bucks in teh Pell Grants. Does nothing right by the people.

Votes to raise the Federal Minimum Wage over a period of 2 years. Does nothng right by the people.

Votes to continue funding Bush’s War thru September. Does nothing right by the people. Understandable where he is coming from.

Votes on FISA, which is alos supported by Pelosi.

Votes to ensure that Medicare negotiates with the Drug Companies for lower Drug Costs. Does nothing right by the people.

Votes to expand on Health Coverage for children. SCHIP. Does nothing right for the people.

Since January has held 25 Open Meetings, forums, etc., where the public is encouraged to attend to voice their concerns. Does nothing right by the people.

So what you are saying chesty is that Tim Walz does not have Veterans, Collefge Students, Low wage earners, farmers, Seniors, Unisured children living in the 1st CD.

The fact of the matter is, the people are getting to know Walz and his style. They are liking what they see and know that for the first time in a long time, they actually know WHO their Representative is and what he is doing for them.

Does nothing right by the people. Yeah right!!

“Votes to raise the Federal Minimum Wage over a period of 2 years. Does nothng right by the people.”

Since the majority of minimum wage earners are teens, this did nothing but to raise prices for the rest of us and probably put some of those teens out of jobs!

By the way kathy, if you say this sight does nothing but denegrate democrats, what are you doing here? Why aren’t you on one of the numerous sites that do nothing but denegrate Republicans?

  8. DEJA VU: STAR TRIBUNE REPORTS AGAIN THAT WALZ HAS TAKEN NO POSITION ON OBERSTAR’S PROPOSAL TO RAISE THE GAS TAX | Minnesota Democrats Exposed Says:
    September 6th, 2007 at 10:39 AM
