FAST-ACTING PAWLENTY CALLS SPECIAL SESSION
By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 10, 2007
Governor Pawlenty called a special session this afternoon starting tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. so the legislature can pass a flood relief aid package. The fast-acting Pawlenty called a special session to address flood damage that occurred less than 30 days ago:
"'It's, I think, the fastest disaster recovery special session that we've had in recent memory,' Pawlenty said. 'I know there has been some concern about timing, but the fact of the matter is that those two other floods, the special session was three months later. We've moved this up for understandable and good reasons and it needs to be moved up.'" Source: MPR, September 10, 2007
Pawlenty is absolutely correct. Back in 1997, Governor Carlson called a special session almost four months after flooding caused major damage in Minnesota. In 2002, Governor Ventura called a special session more than three months after flooding in Roseau and the northwestern part of Minnesota.
Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for coverage of the special session.

“Back in 1997, Governor Carlson called a special session almost four months after flooding caused major damage in Minnesota.”
*And the people of the Red River Valley were none to pleased with Carlson’s performance! As we were being crippled by ice storms and flood waters good ole Carlson was busy bickering about fishing rights. My father, a fairly conservative guy, would have spit in the eye of Carlson rather than talk to him after his actions in 1997.

Oh bang! Facts get in the way of another DFL talking point.

Hmmmm, trying to get some info on the school board election so went to the sec’y of state web site.
Complaint 1: Before Richie gives me voting into, he has a political message bashing the governor. Ass.
Complaint 2: There is no info on what I need (the upcoming election and polling times). It’s early yet so I’ll give him a pass on this one.
Complaint 3: He has the wrong address for my polling place. I can’t believe he’s only been in office for 9 months and he’s already f*cked up the site Kiffmeyer built.

“FAST-ACTING PAWLENTY”
Can you get that over the counter, or prescription only.
We need one of those to fix our bridges that are falling down. Or did you all forget about that already!

Will the democrats be true to their word and keep this session to the pre-agreed agenda and solution?
The cameras are rolling DFL, can you stay to your word?

Pressure from conservatives played a role in narrowing the focus of this overnight special session. The list Tarryl Clark ticked off 48 hours after the bridge fell is nowhere to be found in the expected session agenda.
Watch closely. Question everything. Be vigilant. Government is back in business, if only for a day.

Fisch: if they were honorable they would be true to their word, but I have never been able to equate the word honorable to this group.
Watch your back – there is a knife somewhere.

I recall listening to MPR a few weeks ago during call-ins by flood-stricken people wondering why government hadn’t already fully covered their uninsured losses within days of the deluge and then choked on my lunch as former Gubs Arne C. and Wendell A. reminisced self-servingly about how well things worked during their administrations. I suspect that the poor folks of SE Minnesota have already received more aid and faster than anyone in East Grand Forks or Roseau thanks to under-reported state and FEMA efforts. But just the same, keep your eye on the details of this special session. If the taxpayers are going to be the re-insurers of last resort, then all of us may need to figure out how to lay off future tax-funded loss settlements at Lloyds of London.

Besides passing a bill they new would never become law, what did these DFLers do for transportation last session? NOTHING! It’s only urgent now because they can get their fat faces on TV talking about it. I am so disgusted and fed up with this group of frauds and liars.

Good joke MDE… Our Governor has been talking very fast, but as for his actions they have been slow and ineffective, just like his leadership.
