MORE NEWS ABOUT FAILED CONGRESSIONAL CANDIDATE TINKLENBERG BREAKING WORD TO RUN FOR CONGRESS
By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 17, 2007
"Former state transportation commissioner and Blaine Mayor Elwyn Tinklenberg said Friday that he's reconsidering his decision in May not to seek the DFL endorsement in a 2008 6th Congressional District race.
'My intentions are to do an assessment of where things are in the district,' he told the Times. 'I wanted to talk with (announced DFL candidates) Bob Olson and Bob Hill. They've put in a lot of time and effort and they deserve a great deal of respect.'" Source: St. Cloud Times, September 15, 2007

Why does Tinklenberg need to talk with Olson and Hill? Does he want them to get out of the race for him? I was on Andy Barnett's radio show and I said that it appears Tinklenberg's candidacy is going over like a lead balloon.
I continue to believe that Democrats won’t be excited about helping a candidate who is pro-life, anti-gay marriage, and who supported the war in Iraq.

I find it ironic that the same guy who complained about Patty Wetterinling breaking her word is now breaking his.

In other words, the kind of Democrat who might have a decent chance in the 6th district…

Jeff – this works both ways. Remember that Janet Robert was pro-life – she lost her base – she only got 35% of the vote. Losing base, means losing volunteers who tell their friends to vote for a candidate. Patty Wetterling got 10 points more. Then with Bachmann vs Binkowski vs Wetterling – pro-choice, pro-gay candidates got nearly 50% of the vote.
Do you really think Bachmann’s base – who are really worried about the “homosexual agenda” and whatnot – are going to defect to a Democrat?
Wetterling ran a very weak campaign in 2006. She deserved to lose.
