FRANKEN CAMPAIGN’S SPIN ON ACCEPTING “BIG TOBACCO” MONEY SOUNDS DESPERATE AND DEFENSIVE

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 19, 2007

This spin from Franken's campaign about accepting money from "big tobacco" sounds desperate and defensive:

"Franken spokeswoman Jess McIntosh said there was no special-interest conflict.

'If they can't tell the difference between taking industry PAC dollars and a fundraiser at the home of a grandson of someone who started a company, they are willfully missing the point,' she said.

The Franken campaign also said that Smith Bagley currently has no tobacco holdings and did not attend the fundraiser, even though the invitation lists him as one of the co-hosts." Source: Star Tribune, September 19, 2007

According to published reports, Smith Bagley worked at one time for R.J. Reynolds.  This book also claims that Bagley owned more than one million shares of R.J. Reynolds stock.

I’d rather vote for someone who has taken money from big oil, big tobacco, big whatever then someone who is heavily supported by big Hollywood or big Manhattan.

How dumb does the Franken campaign think we are??

Money is Money and in accordance with running a fair and clean campaign, funds must be reported to the FEC.

In the interest of fairness, if Sen. Coleman took money from a certain group or organization….and then had the nerve to denounce them and make it a major campaign issue, I’d be just as critical of him as well.

It does say something about Franken’s campaign strategy…I mean, should a guy with all of his Hollywood ties even HAVE to accept money from tobacco hiers??

This condescending response from Jess MacIntosh speaks even louder to the educated voter.

Although, I scratch my head and wonder why anyone with a shred of intellect, aspiration and political wisdom would sacrifice their time (and self respect) for working for someone like Al Franken.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but what really pisses me off in this world is when politicians treat the voting public like idiots.

The truth is that the Franken is counting on the idiot vote, and in MN….that can go far. [Wellstone, Ventura]

That is horrible spin. What business activity created the money so that the “grandson of someone who started a company” could host a fundraiser at his “plantation”?

“Big Manhatten?” Isn’t Rudy from Manhatten?

    Gop Optimist:

You talk way to much. If what you had to say was intelligent, I wouldn’t mind listening.

Please just get to the point.

If you want to write a book, May I recommend Harper-Collins

Senator Coleman does not believe the American people deserve Habeaus Corpus rights????The foundation of our country!!!!

Norm has taken in alittle under 1 million dollars from the drug companies.

I don’t now if your familiar with James Broom Wellstone, but that is the direction where our state and country need to go.

  6. GOP Optimist Says:
    September 19th, 2007 at 2:10 PM

Our country and state needs to move in the direction of James Broom Wellstone?

Yeah—I’m the one who lacks intelligence.

And, when I do write a book, it won’t be based on the hateful vitiol and tired Wellstone rhetoric that we hear from the Moonbat heroes.

Takes a big man with a sharp wit to title a book: “Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot.” Moreover, Franken hardly had his own hand in writing it, a “ghostwriter” essentially penned the whole thing.

Again, “Franken counting on the MN idiot in ’08″

James Broom website regarding mental health:

“I have dealt with tons of psychologists…”

Might I suggest a few more James?

Left Wing kooks like this chump are what give politics and specifically, MN a bad name.

  8. Honeydog Says:
    September 19th, 2007 at 4:46 PM

LOL GOP, yeah, I’m sure he’s been on the ‘couch’ of more than one psychologist trying to sort all the various pathologies that showed up on his MMPI.

  9. Iron Range Says:

I read about this Broom guy in the Washington D.C. press, and he didn’t sound crazy?

He’s been in local papers too.

I heard that Larry King and Michael Moore are intrested in this Wellstone guy?

    Can anyone confirm this?

  10. MNBlueStategal1 Says:
    September 19th, 2007 at 6:22 PM

Yeah-Rush Limbaugh is a big, fat idiot…the other idiots live in the suburbs and are ruining our state with their idiotic votes for GOP candidates…I suppose you think Rotten Rudy is a good candidate…and we all know how TPaw snuck in. Why is the GOP having their convention in a BLUE state? Probably ’cause you could only find outdoor toilets in the red states…too uncomfortable for Sen. Craig.

  11. Honeydog Says:
    September 19th, 2007 at 6:28 PM

ROFLMAO, King and Moore have never heard of psycho McBroom, aka Broom Wellstone. And the only things I’ve read about him is that his stupid tactic of changing his name will backfire on him. We won’t even talk about the need for a tin foil hat because he’s stupid enough to think Paul Wellstone was murdered and claims to have evidence to prove it. Guess he doesn’t know that withholding evidence of a felony is a crime in and of itself.

  12. Iron Range Says:
    September 19th, 2007 at 11:26 PM

You all ask why the GOP is holding their convention in a blue state?

For the world to witness the Wellstone showdown.
    Why else. WAKE UP.

This Honeydog seems very resentful about losing repeated debates with Wellstone.

You say Broom should be charged with a crime for witholding evidence? Why don’t you have the F.B.I. arrest him?

    I’ll tell you why:
The F.B.I. One of our most respected organizations is sitting back on this matter saying shiiiiiiiiiiiit. Do to the fact Broom is tellin the truth.

  13. Honeydog Says:
    September 20th, 2007 at 3:26 AM

    ROFLMAO

First off Iron Range, it’s obvious you are actually the Broom Wellstone person. First, you’re posting at the same time as Broom on the YouTube site. Second, you aren’t bright enough to change your writing style.

Second, I haven’t lost a debate to him. Everytime he gets behind an 8 ball and can’t defend his position, he breaks into swearing and bringing up straw man arguments.

And the reason they haven’t arrested him is because he has no evidence. His delusions aren’t proof of anything other his pyschotic disorder.

  14. Iron Range Says:
    September 20th, 2007 at 1:54 PM

Wow! You have truly lost your mind honeydog.

Am I the 20th person you’ve accused of being Broom?

I can’t wait til Broom and I happen to be posting at the same time.

At that point though we’ll just have wireless laptops though huh?

You speak of delusions quite a bit.

    Look in the mirror

  15. Big Kahuna Says:
    September 20th, 2007 at 4:53 PM

Yeah-Al Franken is a big, fat idiot…the other idiots live in the inner-cities and are ruining our state with their idiotic votes for DFL candidates!!

MN Blue you could not be more right. ;)

  16. Big Kahuna Says:
    September 20th, 2007 at 4:57 PM

McBroom Wellstone is such a flipping joke not even honest Wellstone supporters can back that looney!

I can sat for a fact Broom-Wellstone will not even net 10% of the vote! :)

Besides, not too many want taxes raised so he can give $100,000,000.00 to the Wellstone boys. Like their Dad did not steal enough tax money for the boys to live on.

I kid you not that looney believes we Minnesotan’s owe the Wellstones this money! ;)

Broom is as crazy as Paul Wellstone, but even more dishonest. I guess that is a perfect person for today’s DFL. :)

  17. Honeydog Says:
    September 20th, 2007 at 5:27 PM

Actually Iron Range, aka Broom, all you have to do is have two windows open to the thread. Have something typed in in both windows, then very quickly hit the submit comment in both windows. LOL, I take it you’re a bit of web neophite huh.

Two posts, two different names, both at the same time………….

  19. Honeydog Says:

    Well almost the same thing…………..

Gee your a regular rocket scientist Honeydog?

    Obviously I’m having fun.

Speaking of fun, I had quite a bit of fun with the hush money checks ALL TRACKABLE that were delivered to me a couple days after the Wellstone crash.

Does anyone find it odd that 5minutes after hearing on CNN that Wellstone’s flight went down
    I yelled into my phone-

“If you cockroaches can take down a Senator’s plane, is there any money left in the budget to send me some checks or credit cards?”

Does anyone find it odd that checks then arrived Immediately?

Thousands upon thousands were spent. The 1st thing I paid was a phone bill for $8,000 bucks(phone bill was under the name of Gonzales)

So as I did this TRACKABLE move with the checks I said to myself, If this is what it is then nobody will complain about thousands leaving this account.

If not surely I’m in trouble. I mean would anyone not find it odd having thousands gone from their account????

Wouldn’t they call their bank?? Or the cops?….

    UNLESS IT WAS HUSH MONEY.

    We haven’t even started yet.

Does anyone have a logical explanation why someone would not care about thousands leaving their account?

I know who gave the order.

Broom Kenneth Starr Wellstone could solve Broom’s own case. With the blessing of congress.

I would like to dedicate this post to the future Queen of Beers Paris Hilton and Anheuser-Busch
That’s Cold! I’ll drink to that.

  21. Honeydog Says:
    September 24th, 2007 at 4:08 AM

First off, you weren’t having fun, that’s just your excuse because you got caught.

Second, you haven’t given details on anything yet, this last crap you’ve posted is nothing more that BS that lacks any substance.

Congress, the FBI, and the CIA would do nothing but laugh at you.
