COLEMAN FOR U.S. SENATE PRESS RELEASE: “COLEMAN SUPPORTS BI-PARTISAN MEASURE CONDEMNING MOVEON’S PERSONAL ATTACK ON GENERAL PETRAEUS”

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 20, 2007

St. Paul – Joining a bipartisan coalition including 71 of his colleagues from both sides of the aisle, Senator Coleman today voted for a measure condemning MoveOn’s vicious personal attack. The measure expresses the sense of the Senate that Petraeus "deserves the full support of the Senate," and goes on to "strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the Unite States armed forces."

Earlier this week, Senator Coleman called on both DFL candidates opposing him to refute MoveOn’s attack, and repeated the call today:

"It’s unfortunate that neither Al Franken nor Mike Ciresi can summon the courage to reject MoveOn’s deliberate smear attack on General Petraeus. The Senate did the right thing and moved forward in a bipartisan way to condemn the attacks – Franken and Ciresi need to do the right thing and repudiate them as well."

Franken has long been a supporter of MoveOn, supporting them financially, and helping them fundraise. Ciresi seemed to have condemned the ad in a statement issued last week, but then retracted it.

"Al Franken can continue to call for cutting off financial support for American troops in Iraq, and Mike Ciresi can continue his support for beginning an immediate withdrawal of American troops, but they should join me and an overwhelming bipartisan majority in the Senate in repudiating the attacks of groups like MoveOn, which devalue the crucial debate over Iraq."

I’m very pleased about Norm’s vote on this amendment. However, will he do the same and condemn and vote against the Dream Act Amnesty Amendment providing “in state” tuition, among other things, to illegal immigrants?

If military leaders don’t want to be criticized for their politics, maybe they should stay out of them. The senators who voted for this are a bunch of push-over hacks.

This just goes to show you, the loonie lefties, aka Demoncrats, don’t really mean it when they say “we support the troops, but not the war.”

They attack a military member, aka one of the troops, before he even issued his report.

By the Mark, you fool. The commanding general of any operation does have to report his findings to political figures all the time. That doesn’t make him ‘political’, it just means he’s doing his job.

Yes, but he’s not to shill for the administration.

Mark you are another prime example of the abject stupidity dominant on the Left. Congress asked Petraeus for a report. He developed one. He both the good and the bad. The anti-American lunatics in the Democrat party didn’t want to hear any of it, especially the good.

There’s nothing politic in the General’s testimony. Personally I’d feel better if Democrats shut the fuck up, particularly ignorant assholes like you.

The Democrats who sanctioned personal attacks on the unassailable service of this honorable man are pushover hacks bought and paid for by the radical, anti-American group MoveOn.org.

Funny thing is, I wish MoveOn would “move on”… what a bunch of losers.

The general in no way, shape or form “shilled for the administration” you moron. Worse, the attacks from anti-American liberal groups started before he even issues his report.

Liberalism is a mental disorder. There’s nothing so astonishing as the dishonesty and willful stupidity on display today by Democrats. Unbelievable.
