3RD CD: STANEK NOT OUT

By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 24, 2007

I spoke with someone close to Hennepin County Sheriff Rich Stanek and they confirmed that Stanek has not decided against running for Congress in the 3rd CD.  Stanek continues to meet with activists in the 3rd CD about a potential run for Congress in 2008.

Please check back to Minnesota Democrats Exposed for more information.

[...] …but Brodkorb says Henco sheriff Rich Stanek might be. [...]

Stanek is a jerk and unfit for this race. I would be shocked if he won the nomination or even got close.

    Oh brother.

While I hope he doesn’t run because we need him as our sheriff here, he’s hardly a jerk. The only people who think that are those he’s arrested. What were the charges, T-Rex?

Oh not much… just making multiple racist comments, beating up people, being a control freak, dragging people out of their cars and threatening their life… you know, just little stuff like that.

Oh, TRex, Stanek’s received forgiveness for using the N word and for beating up people. All that is so yesterday. He’s cool with the brothers now.

So he beat you up? What were you arrested for, T-Rex?

The beating people up while in uniform bothers me. The racist comments much less so. This wasn’t a single isolated incident with Stanek – there were 3 lawsuits – all settled by the city on this issue.

There’s also the matter of the unqualified Financial person he hired – Julianne Ortmann. Remember how challenged she was about filling out her time cards?

I’ve reposted the Spokesman Recorder article that documents Stanek’s troubling history. The problem is NOT racist statements. The problem is beating up black motorists while in uniform.

Again pretending to know everything about everything and because you say it is so then it is.
“unqualified financial person” I beg to differ. Who is more qualified and has done a better job than Julianne Ortman. The media was on a witch hunt because – oh my republicans hold jobs while serving in the legislature instead of being on the public dole like the dems. She missed a committee meeting on the Vikings stadium – oh yawn how many of those can a person sit through.

What kind of qualifications does she have in the financial area? Tom Lyden did a great story about this – where he showed her resume. She has no background in finance.

And double dipping is a problem. She was claiming she was working for Hennepin County while she was down at the state legislature.

  11. rudy Says:
    September 25th, 2007 at 7:35 AM

Again Not True. Ortman was a County Commissioner – I believe they are in charge of large budgets? She has been a member of the Senate and served on the tax committee for 5 years,I do believe they handle the states budget? That is a pretty good financial resume. As far as the time cards, the senate takes role at the beginning of a session, everyone is marked present whether they are there or not. They are excused at the end of the session which the media did not check. Ortman’s record was correct. Why do you think they dropped the story so fast. It simply was a witch hunt that didn’t work.

  12. Chestnut Says:
    September 25th, 2007 at 8:31 AM

So Eva would me more comfortable with a candidate who beat up black drivers while wearing street clothes?

  13. Rumba Says:
    September 25th, 2007 at 9:28 AM

Rudy the Tax Committee deals with taxes (ie raising money) the Finance Committee deals with spending money. She would like you to think she’s an expert in Finance, but she has a weak background.

  14. doctor dre Says:
    September 25th, 2007 at 9:31 AM

Yeah, Ortman is totally qualified. Remember when she cited her bookeeping job while in High School to defend her bona fides?

Serving on a legislative finance committee is not “handling” a budget. Oversight, yes. Management, no.

It’s no secret that I opposed Rich Stanek’s run for sheriff. But he’s been consistently, as far as I can tell, doing a very good job. While I think that bodes well for him doing a good job as a Congressman — if he can run and win — I’d rather he stay on as sheriff.
