DEMMER FOR CONGRESS PRESS RELEASE: “RANDY DEMMER URGES WALZ TO DENOUNCE MOVE ON.ORG”
By Michael B. Brodkorb | September 24, 2007
I received this press release last Friday.
###
Congressional candidate Randy Demmer today called on Congressman Tim Walz to denounce the recent Moveon.org attack on General Petraeus titled "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?"
"Tim Walz knows full well that General Petraeus is an honorable soldier and has the full support of our troops in Iraq" Demmer said. "His silence is an insult to our military and to the work that our brave troops are doing in Iraq."
Tim Walz said when elected that he would bring civility to Washington. "This extreme political organization, [M]oveon.org, works to promote liberal Democrats such as Mr. Walz. His silence on this distasteful, blatantly political ad showsthat he is so beholding to this special interest group that he is unwilling tostand up to them." according to Demmer.
"He is willing to look the other way when these groups attack the brave men and women that defend us." With recent polls showing congressional approval ratings in the teens, the nation is sending them a signal that the partisan rhetoric will not betolerated. Mr. Walz hesitation to speak out on this ad is very disappointing, and not what the residents of the First District look for from their Congressman.
"Tim Walz should join Sen. Klobachar and other democrats in denouncing these distasteful, politically motivated attacks" Demmer insisted. "These types of ads have no place in the debate of the war in Iraq and Tim Walz knows it."

That about nails it. Tim Walz is a goddam coward, beholden to Leftist radicals. He, like all Democrats last election, ran on a platform of independence and conservative thinking. Only to stride in to Washington and heel to Nancy Pelosi and the MoveOn.org America haters.
Tim Walz is a disgrace.
September 24th, 2007 at 9:41 am
You know, Congress extremely low approval rating is in huge party to them not ending the war. I mean the GOP in the country take a good third out of the approval rating, independents take almost another third and then that left 25% of so not accounted for the positive rating are Democrats who want the war ended. And a large percent of those independents would be the same thing. That number sounds so inflated with people being unhappy with Democrats and their liberal policies but in reality, that number is so low because of Democrats and Democrat leaners unhappy with Congress not acting my on more Democratic values, like ending the war.
Maybe Walz is too busy to bother with stupid bullshit like this?

Andrew’s post is the true example of how to use the swag method in defining a poll. One must realize the House did everything in the first 100 hours, so they say, since then they have done nothing else. In the Senate, Reid has done nothing but make excuses for his ineptness and just can’t seem to fulfill his promise of compromise and conciliation. If Peloosi and Reid show any sign of compromise, the KOSKIds pull the reminder string of who put them there.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:05 am
You make a good point Andrew. The low approval stems from two factions: defeatist liberals who want America to lose, for whom Democrats aren’t forcing the surrender fast enough. And the majority of Americans — including Republicans — who want the U.S. to win and are tired of all the anti-American, anti-solider sentiment coming from Democrats in congress.
The majority of Americans want to give Patreaus more time. From a recent Gallup poll:
Fifty-four percent of those surveyed said they believe Petraeus’ plan for removing troops is the right pace or too quick. By contrast, only 33 percent view the withdrawal as moving too slowly.
Pew reports that nationally “57 percent of Americans who read or heard about Petraeus’ testimony approved of his recommendations for Iraq, while only 28 percent of respondents said they disapprove.
US News & World Report’s “Political Bulletin†highlighted polling that found when “[a]sked, ‘If General Petraeus asks for the troop level to remain in place for another nine months, would you approve or disapprove this proposal,’ 54% approve it; 43% disapprove. Independents track the overall response, with 53% approving the proposal and 43% disapproving it. 80% of Republicans back the idea while 67% of Democrats oppose it.â€
The majority of Americans may want an end to the war, but the majority also don’t want to see America surrender unilaterally or precipitously. The majority of Americans also don’t approve of cutting off funds for soldiers in the field. And Democrats cannot Constitutionally dictate strategy or time tables.
Simply put, Democrats are in a tight spot politically, which is why Republicans are kicking their ass legislatively.
Cowards like Tim Walz are simply too chicken shit to move. He’s a deer (or a Pelosi Purse Poodle) caught in the headlights between a public who completely disapproves of the character attack on the General commanding our military, and being “bought and paid for” by the anti-Americans who attacked the General.
If he denounces the ad, he’ll be attacked by the radicals who own him. If he doesn’t, he’ll continue to be attacked by moderates who hate the radicals holding his leash.

… loose tag…
September 24th, 2007 at 10:08 am
This was a press release from last week? The Demmer campaign can’t be too encouraged that his press release didn’t get picked up by any papers. I live in the district and didn’t see it anywhere.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:47 am
Andew, it is the same with Republicans. One of the reasons they have rated low (including President Bush) is that they are governing like Democrats. I don’t want more entitlement programs that cost 100’s of billions of dollars.
September 24th, 2007 at 11:08 am
The Republicans sure can get together in a hurry to denounce an ad to take the heat off their pathetic party, but they lock step with the Nut Job Prez to keep the war going…The Republicans are the ones in a “tight spot.” The majority of Americans can’t stand the GOP because they’ve ruined America and are too dumb and proud to admit it…if at least your party would own up to its mistakes…THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OWES THE NATION A BIG APOLOGY…NOW QUIT STANDING IN A WIDE STANCE AND START THINKING MICRO INSTEAD OF MACRO–YA NARROW, GREEDY BIGOTS!!! OUR ONLY SAVING GRACE IS WE ARE RUNNING LOW ON ANGRY WHITE MEN!!!
September 24th, 2007 at 11:14 am
The majority of Americans agree with Republican positions. When Democrats run as liberals, they lose. When the govern as liberals, they lose big.
Looking forward to a good 2008 for the GOP.
DFL: Nothing but hate.
September 24th, 2007 at 11:21 am
Chestnut–and who owns you? After all the crap W has pulled, to ask a question is smart, not anti-american. That’s one of the real differences between the GOP and the Democratic Party–we are not afraid to question…you just go along with whatever you are told. It takes much more courage to be like a Democrat than a Republican. Walz is a Statesman, not a coward (something you’ll never figure out ’cause you are so removed from civility)…gosh, why do I waste my time on you?
September 24th, 2007 at 11:31 am
DFL: Big tent of caring, smart, “big picture” thinking people who want what is best for their nation (and YES, that includes corporations but we will not tolerate poor working conditions and being taken advantage of). I think the Dems feel better about themselves because we are not araid to take on issues and be taken advantage of…gotta go shopping–hope I find something made in the USA.

It is really gratifing to read these posts from LieTeller. He thoroughly demonstrates was a mean-spirited LIBERAL BIGOT he is !
September 24th, 2007 at 11:59 am
Truth teller – or that is what you call yourself.
Seems there is still one angry white man still out there. YOU!! Not to mention your guy for Senate – Angry Al Franken.
Once again we have a liberal whiner who thinks the answer is easy and all we have to do is vote democRat and all will be good in the world again.
Let’s see what you side has done with the White house the last couple times you had it jackass.
Clinton: Probably the weakest president we have had in many, many years. He did what ever he could to not make any waves and keep his poll numbers up. He was so wishy-washy and let’s face it, he is the one who let Bin Laden run off free to deal with years later. The only thing Clinton will be known and famous for is getting caught screwing ugly chicks in the White House.
Then of course who can forget Carter!! Without doubt already considered one of the worst presidents in US history!1 Yes, the worst! Not president Bush, but former President Carter who sent this country into a debt and financial hole it took years to dig out of. Thank God people were smart enoughto put Reagan in after that bozo so we could build a strong economy again.
Truth, you fools who like to play like all Republicans bad and all democrats are good gets old and sounds like junior high school type stuff. Does Mom know you are not in school today?
September 24th, 2007 at 12:04 pm
Walz is to statesman as Attila the Hun is to pacifism.
You want to ask questions? Ask about the communist, literally anti-American backgrounds of the financiers of MoveOn, ANSWER and Code Pink.
You want to ask questions? Ask about the millions John Murtha, Diane Fienstein, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats have siphoned off of defense spending for their family members.
You want to ask questions? Ask why Bill Clinton did nothing to prevent terrorists from carrying out multiple attacks on the U.S. during his Presidency. Ask why, if Al Queda was even on his radar, neither Janet Reno nor anyone else from his administration briefed any member of the incoming Bush administration on the threat, or strategies employed to counter it. Ask why, when people in this country illegally carried out the terrorist attacks of 9/11, and when people in this country continue to be arrested for attempting and planning attacks on this country, as well as committing violent crimes, Democrats are obstructing every measure to secure our borders, and enforce immigration laws.
Try asking a few of those asshole.
September 24th, 2007 at 12:18 pm
Big K: Don’t you have a KKK meeting to go to? I’m self employed, fatty, so I come and go as I please…you are one ignorant, sweaty faced moron…(there, playing the game like you)…What was wrong with the Clinton years?–too much peace and prosperity for ya, eh? You like a war so you can watch people get killed–turns ya on, eh? Makes you feel like a tough guy…Dr. Allen Greenspan (if you even know who that is) bashed Bush in his new book. On the Macro level, the economy is good…good for all those rich people who sold our country out. On the Micro level, people are feeling the squeeze. I’m not feeling it, but I still give a damn about those who are…be careful what you wish for, zit man…we had a taste of it these past 8 years and it was/is horrendous…of course, they pay you to type all is fuzzy and warm…We lost thousands of weapons again, this time in Iraq…another Iran/Contra-type scandal??? Hmmm…eat your BBQ and chew on that awhile…
September 24th, 2007 at 12:31 pm
Uh…we were attacked on 9/11 under Republican watch. Oh, but it only happened once!!! See ya, I’m off to some REAL blog sites–all dem and independent ones…
September 24th, 2007 at 1:23 pm
TheTruthTeller, are those “REAL blog” sites the ones that delete any message that doe not reflect their political leanings (unlike this site)?
September 24th, 2007 at 1:28 pm
To make it simple for your small brain TruthBoy, you are a clown and your ramblings on this site as a representative of the Left just proves how messed up you and your kind are.
September 24th, 2007 at 1:30 pm
Hey dipshit, here’s a brief list of the Islamic terrorist attacks against the U.S. during Bill Clinton’s presidency. “Peace and Prosperity” so long as your head is stuck in the sand (or Monica’s throat).
Oct. 12, 2000 – A terrorist bomb damages the destroyer USS Cole in the port of Aden, Yemen, killing 17 sailors and injuring 39.
Aug. 7, 1998 – Terrorist bombs destroy the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. In Nairobi, 12 Americans are among the 291 killed, and over 5,000 are wounded, including 6 Americans. In Dar es Salaam, one U.S. citizen is wounded among the 10 killed and 77 injured.
June 21, 1998 – Rocket-propelled grenades explode near the U.S. embassy in Beirut.
June 25, 1996 – A bomb aboard a fuel truck explodes outside a U.S. air force installation in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. 19 U.S. military personnel are killed in the Khubar Towers housing facility, and 515 are wounded, including 240 Americans.
Nov. 13, 1995 – A car-bomb in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia kills seven people, five of them American military and civilian advisers for National Guard training. The “Tigers of the Gulf,” “Islamist Movement for Change,” and “Fighting Advocates of God” claim responsibility.
February 1993 – A bomb in a van explodes in the underground parking garage in New York’s World Trade Center, killing six people and wounding 1,042.
September 24th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
… and then, 8 months in to a Republican administration, the attacks that had been planned during the Democrat administration were carried out.
Democrats talk about the importance of law enforcement in the war on terror. Sure, it is important. But you cannot count on Democrats to do it.
Fucking liars.
September 24th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
“…we had a taste of it these past 8 years…”
Glad to see you’re including 1999, 2000 & 2001
when your traitor president was the WH resident,
who IGNORED numerous attacks on his “watch” and
chose NOT to capture Bin Laden when he had the chance.
I noted you were trying to “buy American”. Now just which country is it, that is supplying all of these shoddy imports to the US, also bought and paid for their own American President?
Irony bites, doesn’t it?
September 24th, 2007 at 2:20 pm
Oh poor Truth, where do I start with you my boy.
Let’s see, now that you have made it and have financial freedom you are with those would would keep others from making it on their own by taxing them into dependancy on the government. Typical fucking pussy liberal who cannot admit their own greed. If you worry so much about others than be a man and give up your fortune for those others. I would bet you are a typicl sissy Lexus liberal.
You figure you make it to your local Lifetime Fitness or maybe even over to the local McDojo between expresso breaks and you think you are a tough guy?
Your boy Clinton took ecomonic prosperity and managed to bring it full circle to a resession in his time in office. Managed to toss a few bombs killing the innocent while you cry baby liberals looked the other way because you could not condem one of your own. The same god damn sissy who turned tail during the first attack and did nothing about it.
Did you read any of Greenspan’s book yet you asshat or are you just sounding off what you heard on your favorite liberal talk show? I have not had the chance to read it for myself but I also heard Greenspan said the tax cuts were the right thing to do, so I would guess you now support that.
Any other whining you need to do little man? Truth you will find I very much like to taunt wanna be tough guys like yourself, because judging by your post, you had a lot of issues with bullies growing up. My guess is one to many times stuffed in the locker room garbage?
September 24th, 2007 at 2:52 pm
Greenspan quotes…
“With George Bush came the tax cuts, unmatched by decreased spending, and, in the wake of September 11, still more open-handed spending,” something he brands “a major mistake”.”
“My biggest frustration remained the president’s unwillingness to wield his veto against out-of-control spending,” he writes. “‘Deficits don’t matter,’ to my chagrin, became part of the Republicans’ rhetoric. The Republicans in Congress lost their way. They swapped principle for power. They ended up with neither. They deserved to lose.”
He also observes: “I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.”
He praises Clinton for his “consistent, disciplined focus on long-term economic growth” whose decision to cut deficits was “an act of political courage”
All I can say is ouch, Kahuna
September 24th, 2007 at 3:05 pm
“My biggest frustration remained the president’s unwillingness to wield his veto against out-of-control spending,â€
I think every Republican agrees with Alan Greenspan. And the idea that Democrats will do anything but raise spending more, while at the same time raising economy killing taxes, is a joke.
BTW — thanks to those tax cuts, the U.S. economy has added more jobs than all industrialized nations combined since 2003. The U.S. government is taking in more tax revenues than ever before in history. And the deficit, as a percentage of GDP, this year is down to 1.5%, which is well below its historical average over the past four decades.
Let’s look at some other facts about the strength and perseverance of the Bush economy:
President Bush has steadily reduced the annual rate of growth in non-security discretionary spending. That area of government was increased a staggering 15 percent by the last Clinton/Gore budget. President Bush has held that spending lower than inflation the last 4 years running.
And on increased spending, President Bush was forced to grow spending to rebuild our military after the draw-downs of the 1990s. Additionally, the post-9/11 world demands more spending to improve intelligence gathering, law enforcement and homeland security.
Spending is indeed too high. But only a Republican could deliver tax cuts, record increases in revenue, and the strongest economy this nation has ever seen, after having been handed a recession, and through major national challenges.
Democrats are fucking liars, thieves and idiots.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:06 pm
What, another guy exposing his true political colors. Not really an ouch as I know the tax cuts were the right thing. I also have to agree the republicans did let spending get out of control! Conservatives have been saying that for some time now.
To try and claim the Iraq war was for oil is a bit much. Do we have a stake in making sure the US is kept in oil from the region, I would say yes. The United States cannot function with that oil and any liberal who tries to claim otherwise is not being even slightly honest.
Now another point I find a bit funny is if President Bush had vetoed all that spending how you liberals would be crying about how President Bush will not spend on basic needs. No matter which way the guy goes the libs will try to make an issue of it.
So, today Greenspan is a liberal hero but only as long as you can use him to bash President Bush.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:08 pm
Say, going forward now, are there any on the democRat side who are looking to cut taxes and reduce spending?? Or will their answer be to INCREASE spending and TAXES?
Gee, when it comes to the democRats one thing you can bet on is larger government and higher taxes.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:15 pm
And let’s make sure Alan Greenspan’s comments on Iraq and oil are accurately represented:
“I was not saying that that’s the administration’s motive,” Greenspan said in the interview conducted on Saturday. “I’m just saying that if somebody asked me, ‘Are we fortunate in taking out Saddam?’ I would say it was essential.”
He also said that securing global oil supplies was “not the administration’s motive.”
September 24th, 2007 at 3:17 pm
So are you calling Greenspan a Democrat and/or a “fucking liar”?
That’s interesting since he proclaims himself a lifelong Republican and has served 6 Presidents.
September 24th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
Neither. Democrats are fucking liars. Greenspan is articulating things Republicans would agree with.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:04 pm
[...] The press release, it should be noted, was picked up by no one (that I can find via Google, anyway) other than Hal and Michael Brodkorb over at MDE. Must be that evil liberally controlled media… [...]
September 25th, 2007 at 9:32 am
I am glad to hear you agree that the Iraq war really is about oil.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:55 am
Gipper you dumb ass, what do you think would happen if oil supplies dropped off?
Something tells me you do not ride your bike to work and I would also bet you enjoy heating your hme in the winter.
Oil supplies must be protected. the worlds economy would be in very big trouble without a steady supply of that Texas tea.
Liberals though are not really interested in any of that. All that matters to them is that they try to bash President Bush at every turn and that is what is really behind the cry that the war is about oil.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:57 am
The Iraq war is not about oil. It is, and has never been, the motive for that war.
Just another bumper sticker lie the anti-American left uses to coddle and defend murderous, terrorist supporting regimes.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
I bought Greenspan’s book at the airport a couple of days ago and am 3/4 of the way through it.
He does indeed express disagreement with Bush….specifically he says that Bush was wrong not to have vetoed all of the Democrat pork barrel spending.
He also chides the GOP legislators from straying away from Grover Norquist’s ultimate truth.
These are things that any conservative would agree with 100%.
As to Moron.com, weell let’s just say that I love it when moonbats pay the tab for their own burials, so I’m sending big ups to George Soros & Co.!
